OHHH PULEASE!----the majority of basement apartments,do NOT look anything like that, before you post such malarkey, do your research FIRST!
of course, they do what are you talking about? I mean having a basement in the first place is a luxury anyway.
Majority of basements do not good light, an easy opening to garden. Basements are used for dumping goods not in much use.
I lived in basement appartement during university, no light, humidity odors, no counter top to cook, minuscule bathroom, à nightmare and Too expensive
How is this a basement apartment? It is 'not' underground and it is sitting level with the house next door which is clearly 'above' ground.
Half of the apartment is underground and half is not. It is walk-out basement. You can google it.
Typically, most basements are underground. So the phrase "basement apartment" is understood to be a separate living place other than the main floor of a Canadian home. So she was correct in identifying it as one.
Clearly you don’t live in Canada because nobody who’s from here would ever ask this since every house has this
It is called a raised basement
I'm writing this in November 2019 and have lived in Toronto for nearly 60 years - this is the most luxurious basement apt. I have ever seen - don't be fooled for all those people coming to Canada - the rents are at least $900 for a cold dark basement apt. - prices are out of control - do your research before coming so you won't be shocked - cheers
We live here for 9 years and we’ve seen basements even better.
Yes, lots of better basement apartments but at what cost and was it in a safe location is my question - I don't want people who see this youtube video, thinking all people in Toronto live so nicely - the rents are a minimum of $1500 for a 1 bedroom - I know because I have been looking - cheers
@KV MCU Can't give you a price because there is such a range and it all depends on the location - maybe $1600 is my guess for a decent location for a one bedroom but you would really need to speak with a real estate agent who could help you out - cheers
@KV MCU Just to correct you, I am not a bro, but a young lady - all the best
I felt cut of from the world when living in a basement ..Very cold in winters
Yes basements could be pretty cold 🥶
If you want to make money on crypto I will here you, if you want to learn or invest I have classes for clients who wants to learn crypto
Dont be fooled not all basements look like this!!!! I have spent about 4 years in 2 basements and it was horrible!!! No natural light no privacy you cannot adjust the AC or heater etc it was aweful
Indeed
These are the new modenized houses i guess but real basement is hell
true
Based on the outside, their area must be in Vaughn or outside Toronto.
It's always fucking colddddddd
My two cents to landlord: if you have a mortgage, you declared to have a single family residence on the property. Bank can take back the mortgage immediately (no more than 35 days) if they find out. Tenant in basement, ask landlord to show their driver lic and property tax bill before giving your deposit. This is the only to protest yourself from the illegal lease
Can i get good basement in Waterloo
problem with basements are 2 things
1- people upstairs controls the heater so in summer days they might feel the heat of the sun but down there we are freezing
2- ceiling tiles in those houses are paper thin , you can hear noises 247
Yes, agreed but the price is reflecting this and no complaints after all ;)
And people can hear the neighbors even in the condo or townhouse
Not necessarily if you get zoned a/c or c/a
This is a walkout basement in a better off neighbourhood north of Toronto proper, very misleading video.
I lived in a nice basement apartment for 15 years. I had two windows in each room (except kitchen). It wasn't an above ground basement apartment. It has a lot natural lighting and separate entrance. It's outside of Toronto. Unfortunately, my landlord wants the apartment for his son. I am moving into a smaller apartment with one large window in the bedroom and a small window in the living room its a nice place but all basement apartments are different. This was a lovely video but may be show a variety of basement apartments!

Take a look here. hope It will help u the best.

Don’t be fooled. The majority of basements do not look like this. Besides there’s no sunlight and gets very cold in winter. Not to forget, you’re always under the watchful eye of the landlord.
Yes, it’s not perfect, but you pay much less money for the basement then for one bedroom condo in Toronto area.
@@LifeInCanada for a reason. I'm from Ottawa, live in the falls and have friends in Toronto. This is not how many basements look.
@bou path hey cockroches, realllyy🤯😱, in canada alsoo
Our landlord rents out the main floor and basement. We have lived in the basement for 13 years now. The tenant upstairs has been here even longer. It’s been fine. I wish our windows were big like this one in the video but we do have a nice big window in our front door that lets in a lot of light. We have electric baseboard heaters so it’s never cold in the winter. It can at times get quite hot in the summer without AC. No central air and the windows are too small for window units and the windows are too high up for portable ACs. So when the weather isn’t as hot in the summer we open the windows to cool the place and get fresh air and when we have a heatwave we close the windows and run fans. We run a dehumidifier during the summer to keep things from getting damp and we run a humidifier during winter as the heaters make things dry. We have made it work well for us.
Great one
This is a great basement you've found 👍. Rent is also quite reasonable if it is in GTA. Can you please confirm which area is this and how can I find similar layout basement? Would really appreciate
Wow!! This is the opposite of my basement apartment!! Mine is underground with hardly any light!! But probably cheaper than this lovely place!! This must be a newer home!
Maxine love you more baby
Hello can u tell me how much is cost of basement in canada one room???
@@samirasaadat6409 600 Canadian dollars
@@samirasaadat6409 are you interested to learn or invest on crypto
@@hudsongomez4257 yh too much
This basement apartment is the best I've seen thus far, the others I've been seeing either has the windows rather too small and high so that u have little or no light coming into the house or there are no windows at all.
In Richmond Hill area there are a lot of walk-out basements - very bright and big. Most of the basements in downtown is underground
It is all about how much you are willing to spend within any given market. That is a fairly nice place. Noise from the traffic in the main floor can be an issue, specially if the folks upstairs have pets and kids. It is a great option, but beware of noise and issues not typically expected from regular apartments.
Any typical apartment could be noisy as well as condo. Depending on the neighbours you have above you in the building. They're many pros and cons of living in the basement but in some cases it could be better than living in old apartment building.
@@LifeInCanada Very true. I have had my share of good experiences in basement apartments, and I would definitely recommend it. Those old houses can definitely be worst than most basement apartments out there. Main floor traffic noise have typically been some kind of issue in my experience, but there is no doubt that that goes for any attached housing situation. I am currently living in the top floor of a building, and the construction on the rooftop is often an issue for me, so it is definitely a common problem.
This is a main floor, ground level...not a basement suite. A walkout basement is dug out of the ground.
This is exactly the walk-out basement.
@@LifeInCanada You are mistaken. This might be the lower level of a 3 storey row house condominium. A basement has a concrete foundation, is partially underground, with patio doors often leading to the back yard. That is the walkout part!
This is how a language barrier can be harmful...
Just google what walk-out basements look like for a start.
This is not true. The majority of basement apartments in Toronto are small, damp and dark. And overpriced.
wih little or mo daylight
Hi! Thanks for making this sort of video. Cause it will help me a lot. I would like to move to Canada for study purpose. Thank you once more. Love you.❤️
Nice
Seems quite well appointed and convenient.
This one is good. I love the windows and the dining area.
Hi
@@David_Enwerem hello
How are you?
I've seen basements in toronto and it's rare to find a good basement that looks like this ... and for a good price... and by the looks of this video this seems like the outskirts of Toronto... maybe Scarborough or etobicoke? Not down town for sure... i saw the comments and it says 1200 $ month... you wont find something like this in Toronto down town at least... very very rare
Lol just looking at the comments and the price in responses from you of monthly cost is 1200, 1300 and 1330 in some comments...
This basement is in Richmond Hill. This basement was rented out a year or so ago for I believe 1,200 so now it is safe to say that cost would be 1,300 :)
And this is the walk-out basement.
Oh okay makes sense!! Richmond hill is a good area but far from toronto! Good video though!
Thanks.
Thank you for this video. What about price, what about kids? Can you compare it with your appartment and explain a differences a little?
On our other channel we showed our house so you can see the difference ;)
Canada’s Explorer
@@LifeInCanada :) Thanks for the video, very informative as all your videos. But now I am jealous of your other channel ( Canada’s Explorer ) :P ... It has more videos than this channel (Life in Canada) . But really lot of thank for the efforts you make to share your experiences in canada with us... All the best :)
This is more like a Boys quarters ( BQ). Nice space!
I lived in a basement apartment long time ago even I did have my own house. Only one thing I can say, no to basement apartment, your movement is limited.
This one shown is luxury. Not all BA are like this.
This is nice no down stairs and it's quite bright though bed room is quite small but I really like it
Don't be fooled majority of them are nothing like that they turn on the light so you can see the minute you move in the landlord will remove some of the light bulbs to keep you in the dark because electricity in this country energy in this country is very expensive
I live it the basement apartment too. Its not actually the same but at least any rooms have a window and closet.
Can you please tell the location of this house. I am also looking for house in Toronto
Is it common for these type of basements have control of internal temperature?
Im in looooveeeee with Canada 🥺🥰
That's a very good country to live in.
Take pictures of this apartment in the winter😁snow covering all the windows hahaha good luck seeing sunlight for 8 months ohhhhhhhh
Why didn’t you film the little river, I wanted to see that
That's actually a beautiful apartment but not all look like this one thank you for sharing 👍
you did not mention how much is the rent for basement and what about utility cost
This one was $1,200 monthly all included
This basement was done by the property brothers
Hi illmuneco
Where are u form
And you forgot to tell how much is this one for a month? Ohh, this type of basement can be found in the new neighborhood. Toronto has lots of very old houses with very different basement apartments.
This one was rented for $1,300 per month. Yes there are lots of different kind of basements, sometimes even without the windows. This is the walk-out basement.
Thanks for your afford. its really nice from your side to do such a video. and share it with us . we planning to move to canada next year.
Thank you. Good luck with the moving.
@J OneLife why not?
Very nice and not to expensive either...
Thank you 🙏🏻
Its really a good one, Please tell about the price, utilities facilities of the .
Are you in Toronto? If yes then go to www.kijiji.ca and look for the walkout basement, otherwise basements are too dark n horrible, very cold in winter, rent is definitely higher than a normal basement
Hi Biplob
Where are you from ?
This is not what most Canadians consider a basement. Looks more like first floor apartment.
Hi, nice video. Please I'm in currently in Toronto looking for a basement apartment for rent. Is this one available? Where can I get one like this?
No, this is one is happily occupied by our friends ;)
But you can look for some in Richmond hill area at realtor.ca
How much is the walkout basement rental price?and which neighborhood or street is suitable for basement rental?
hoo god bless you mom my wish goto Canada😢😢😢
Thank you for the Video. What is the estimated cost per month for this basement?
This one was rented for $1,300 Canadian dollars per month.
@@LifeInCanada Thank you
Hey.... It's pretty good and compact...
How much is the rent usually for such basements?
This particular one is $1200 Canadian dollars per month with all utilities included.
@@LifeInCanada Thank you. I wish you the best. If I am a si gle without famil, can I find a bit smaller for 800$? a bedroom and a living room without sharing. Are there owners who rent only for females? Thank you again.
@@bartooma yea u can get it..but forget about the rents are getting up..i live in a basement and i am paying 1400 that too that basement did not have windows and laundry and internet
2015 our rent was only 700 for everything! Down in Bathurst Toronto. Now it's sad everything is really very expensive esp. Toronto
@@bartooma sad to say $800 is about the lower end number on rooms in Tdot, yrs ago u could get an apt for that total. smdh.
This is great, 1200 Canadian with all utilities included!
Yes. This is a very good price
haha in montreal 800 cad apartment 2 rooms 450 meters walk to metro subway . toronto is overpriced.
i'm betting the rent is$1700 plus hydro. lol
It was $1,200 now it would be about $1,300 all included.
@@LifeInCanada your basement is amazing your lucky.
I suspect this is miles out of Toronto, 6 mile out but 30mins from union is more expensive than that there only that cheap for a reason.

Hardly a basement...
It's cozy and above ground
Nice video! Very informative. Do more of these.
Will do. Thanks 🙏🏻
Ohh look nice n commentry also nice its compact but big lighted area nice one
You didn't the price of the basement pat
And true you should show different types of basement apts as all of them aren't so nice
You t.v. Showed the best way abt the worst of with no windows
P!s show with prices and different areas of TORONTO,like any in Richmond hill
Are u Ukrainian?
could u speak a little hungarian?
could u show for us the new houses inside also ?
That's a really good walkthrough 😀 but what's the average rent for these kind of accommodation??
This one was rented for $1,300 Canadian dollars per month.
Yes thats a potential price but not the norm, it must be a high end neighborhood, its renovated and has laundry machines. Without all those things mentioned, you could find as low as $900 for a one bedroom. Mine was in new neighborhood but on the far end of my city, I rented for $850 including all utilities, but that was a rarity and unheard of even 5 years ago when I rented that basement (in Toronto area, Canada)
5 years ago were different prices for rent in Toronto area.
Nice! Is this in Richmond Hill? I need a 2 br for sept 1
@@LifeInCanada hey plz what about ottawa . Are the prices lower than toronto ??
I am planning on moving to Toronto as an international student . I am trying to get information about how much rent do i need to get a bedroom furnished apartment and are basements a convenient place to stay in??
Bahahahahaha!! Most of basement suites in Canada look like the serial killer's basement in "Silence Of The Lambs" - and cost more than the average person makes in a month.
They USED to be cheaper than a regular apartment, up until about 1995....
How much the cost to rent basement apartment?

Just make sure to look for a walkout basement apartment.
Basement Very Cold In Winter
It depends on the basement quality but yes it could be a problem, especially in older houses.
Wow still looks better than average apartment from my country 😂😂😂

Oh the pwopity! Real Canadian here!
Renee Moore I’m renting a 2 bedroom basement for $1500 which is a pretty good looking basement but not as bright as this one
yikes! the rent. this place is insane

Def not a typical basement in Toronto
Typical walk-out basement.
It is growing level. It's not a basement !
I plan to move in Toronto. As of now, I'm looking for rent for single bed apartment or basement near in Noth York area. Someone can help me.
Nice video..thank you...
Thank you for watching )
Not all basement apartments look like this. This video is very misleading. Alot of basement apartments you have to share washroom and laundry and entrance.
Very good and informative video and thanks for posting.
As you can see, she is only showing people the rich area of Toronto. Most house in Canada DON'T have nice basements like this. Only big expensive houses have nice basements. So this woman is very misleading and dishonest. Typical for someone trying to show off rentals. As well, she is not from Canada, nor is she use to these type of nice homes.
The rents are insane!! Forget it
I'm in search of a nice, reasonable apartment in London Ontario. I am attending Fanshawe College for September 2022. My budget is $800-$1200 . Can you assist?
Thank for sharing .keep uploading . Kisses
So helpful video.. Thanks for sharing. Really happy to watch your channel
Thank you for watching
I love Canada I would live there
Wow, how much is rental cost? Which part of Canada?
This basement was rented out for $1,300 Canadian dollars monthly. It is in Toronto area, Ontario.
Not too long ago, basements went for under $1000, thanks to the shortage of rentals now the rents have reached so high. For a place that has just one tiny window, which barely lets any sunlight in, this is very overpriced.

How much is rent in this place?
Hello. Beautiful
How much does this apartment cost? Very nice!
This particular one is $1,330 Canadian dollars monthly, all included.
Please help a bro....my mom is sick
Really good job my friend......
Thank you.
Which is this location and what's the rent of this basement
Richmond Hill, Ontario. $1,200 per month for this one.
This is walkout basement, very rare here in Canada, otherwise basements are very dark, humid n cold, but rent is cheaper than an apartment so newcomers mostly rent it in the beginning, after a year or so lots of people change it, usually get a good job, actually basement apartments are blessing for new people
That is a semirised basement in a nice neighborhood, that's why the besement is nice, but the majority of it are dark, cold, damp and ugly.
That’s why we are showed this one so people will see the difference and will be able find something better than dark basement

How much per month it's furnished to everything big
How much does it coast to rent basement per month

HELLO beautiful Queen How are you
This is my true horrific experience that happened to me renting apartments in Montreal, i had to look for a new apartment to rent due to having to leave my apartment i was at due to fire damages that was caused by another tentant in apartment complex, anyhow i soon there after found a new apartment, this new apartment was renting for $1100.00 it had just been renovated and really nice and clean, however my horrific experience was just about to get much worse, just at the time the covid19 outbreak came around i was settling into my new apartment and really happy i had found a new place,so i thought...i soon began feeling very sick in this apartment and i kept trying to figure out why i was feeling this way, well to keep this short,i found out after 5 months and becoming really sick that drug dealers had rented and set up a crystal meth lab in an apartment agent to my mine and the fumes from cooking or making this crystal meth drug had been seeping into my apartment and getting me very very sick, still today i have lingering bad symptoms do to the meth poisoning, i have seen doctors and explained to them about my bad experience,i have persistance symptoms of lung problems, sinuses and bad migrains,i found out the chemical these drug dealers were using to make or cook this crystal meth was called Ether,Ether is a mix of sulfuric acid and alcohol along with other very toxic dangerous chemicals, however the Ether chemical mix has a very deceiving sweet smell not a bad smell which makes it deceiving to the sense of smell leaving you thinking how wounderful the air smells around one, because Ether is very difficult to detect in the air because it blends well with other smells, chances are one becomes poisoned before figuring out, if you`ve rented apartments before you know you will have all kinds of new smells around, how i found out there was a crystal meth lab next to my apartment is another story,by that time i had found out i had been poisoned really bad, but what was just as bad as getting poisoned sick is that when meth contamination seeps into apartments, everything becomes contaminated,i mean everything, from cloths to furniture,tv bed, frigo ect ect to the smallest objects, everything nothing escapes,i couldn`t take anything with me due to meth residue contamination, these meth lab residue spores are really really bad, they will linger in everything for years and continue making one very sick, it is very very hard to wash or get rid of,i had to dispose of everything i had, thousands of dollars lost, all my belongings,it was horrible so horrible, the land lord of the building had no idea this was going on and only later to find out, from what i have found out, these dangerous meth lab apartments are quite common, real scary,i rent from a friend now and will never again rent from strangers,i still feel sick with lasting bad symptoms and fearing for my health over time, please i would like to know if any readers reading this had similar experience, please feel free to reply, the Ether mix is of sulfuric acid and alcohol making it very toxic and poisonous, very hard to detect it`s fumes in the air because of it`s sweet smell plus these fumes and spores could travel long distance if in buildings, buildings where meth labs were set up are health risks for all tenants in building, other chemicals also used are ammonia and acetone in the making of crystal meth,Renters beware.
This is suitable for a college student or a single individual
Yes. It’s good for a couple as well.
