The Barge Viking might just be the strongest, baddest M-----f----r on the 7 Seas. That is one strong. Kickass Deep water anchor handler. Imagine being the captain of that boat. "What? You need that you coastal town moved? Not a problem!

I was on the Barge Viking 2014 doing anchor work in the Kara Sea.
First time ever in that region.
If you don’t know Google Kara Sea.
It was load hitting & breaking ice as we road through

    - Horizon Arctic - environmentally friendly + huge bollard pull
    - ALP Striker - X-bow + huge bollard pull
    - Brage Viking - icebreaking capability
    - ESVAGT Innovator - the ugliest and the coolest of the bunch.

Can't even get the first vessel right.
It's an PSV, not an AHTS vessel

But the Laney Chouest AHV (it’s older) but has 30,000hp. The beast of the seas….

The philippine coastguard should buy atleast 5-10 of this type of ships to patrol west ph sea and conduct resupply mission without the need to avoid collision against chinese coastguard ships and militia vessels.

Not all of those ships are anchor handling ships, some are just supply boats

He SAID some of them were supply vessels, Scooter. Listen next time.

    • @terrymoore1830

@@maxsdad538 There is a difference between a "tug supply vessel" and a "supply vessel". Supply vessels are not designed to work as tugs / towing vessel, so I have to agree with Mike Troup that some of the vessels shown were just straight forward supply vessels without the capability to perform anchor handling or tug operations. Not Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels as per the video title.
You appear rather defensive in your replies to other comments regarding the lack of knowledge of the video maker and I'm trying to work out why this is. Is it to do with your lack of knowledge of the difference between an AHTS and a PSV?
And no, I have not made a video, but I have worked at sea for 43 years with 32 years spent on PSV's and 23 years as Master.

  • @runic3706

  • @mf-hd1cf

    Please do some research.
Firstly, you are mixing vessels types here.
Secondly, gross tonnage is not the right value to compare. Gross tonnage measures the vessel's internal volume and NOT the weight or displacement of the vessel!
Sorry to say, this was done clearly by someone who doesn't understand shipping, e.g. "Netherlands flag".... it is either "Dutch Flag" or "flying the flag of the Netherlands".

    • @maxsdad538
      @maxsdad538 Před rokem +1

Show us YOUR videos, Slick. And 'gross tonnage" is the only WAY to compare vessels of different external dimensions.

    • @mf-hd1cf

@@maxsdad538 Why are you defensive? I just gave you some constructive criticism on where OP could improve in the future. I have been working in the maritime industry for 13+ years, so I dare say I know what I am talking about.
Regarding your comment of GT: sorry to say but you are wrong. Ever heard of deadweight for instance? It really depends on what you want to compare. And since GT is a measurement of volume, it might be a good idea for comparison of cruise ships. But when looking at cargo vessels deadweight is much, much more important. With AHTS GT is absolutely unimportant as nobody cares about the volume of the vessel. The work scope of AHTS is looking at things as bollard pull, installed engine power, deck space, cargo tanks (types and volume), people on board, draught.
Use the right tool for the job ;-)
