If holley doesn’t overnight you a new ecu along with a couple of spares they need their heads examined. Talk about cheap effective advertising. Your effort is appreciated as always. 👍
I don't know what we're going to do with ourselves when you stop making daily videos.
then I shouldn't stop
@@richardholdener1727 no you really shouldn't stop lol
@@richardholdener1727 TWSS!
I had issues with my 770 truck avenger and I heard a guy say Holley had issues with shavings in passages so I disassembled mine to find 3 drill type shavings in the bowls and got smaller pieces to come out of the one jet hole every since then It ran like a grizzly hope it helps if not was worth a mention👍. Twin blown bbc?🤔
Richard: Hey, guys! Did you miss me?!
Me: *wiping away single small tear* ...yes.
Shed no tears. I'm always here for you guys
Me: "I wonder how Richard is doing. Hopefully he's not going too stir-crazy..."
Richard: *shows engine* *imitates engine revving*
Dude, I love your videos. There is so much information here. They're so entertaining, and informative. I can honestly say I've paid good money to watch things that weren't this good.
I have a torqstorm also. 5.3 bored out to a 3.905, 80lb injectors and twin 450 pumps. 4l80 with an unlocked converter made 579 with a hot converter. Awesome blowers
This is the best channel so far for car content! Love how your personality comes through the videos and how real the data is you give. Its helped me so much for my build
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for showing the top down view of the brackets. I really couldn't see the stand offs for the brackets in the other video. It's nice to see new stuff as well.
Man let's all call Holley and plug their phone line until they get this guy up and running again!
He might plug in the toothpick to that one too lol
Carburetor works perfectly, just need proper sized carburetor.
@@internationaldynoauthority693 true but he might want the Holley for the 4.8 ss2 cam testing.
@@internationaldynoauthority693 Same thing I was thinking...
Kevin from CSU brought over a blow through E85 carb
Wow! I was just thinking, man I hope Richard gets some testing done soon so we can have some more content. Great timing, love the videos Richard!
You need your own TV Show!!! Thanks Richard
Been there on my blow through big block with the quick fuel , mine ran awesome until . You’ve reached the limit of single needle and seat , I had 99 jets in all four corners spraying 50/50 water and meth and on the ragged edge of lean . I switched from the Procharger to twin turbos cranking up the power and one of Kevin’s twin needle and seat carbs from CSU with boost referenced power valves and runs like a dream , huge power as rich as I want it with 74 jets in it letting the power valve channel restrictors do the heavy lifting . Running on E85 made your fuel problem show up earlier than on race gas . That’s why I haven’t switched to EFI yet as no one where I live that can diagnose them when there is a difficult problem .
CSU = only way to go ;-)
13:1 on E? Yikes! What was the Lambda value?
I sent my quick fuel metering blocks out to scs Performance and they modified them and now my single needle and seat all of a sudden supplies enough fuel. Its not the needle and seat
You had me worried! I’m really curious about that SS2 VS. the world test. I hope Holley will help you out with your issue. Great video as always. Keep them coming!
It's good to see you again buddy. I tell you what after watching the 1st 2 minutes I thought straight away not enough fuel lol but we all have blank moments from time to time. Keep it up bro.
We all struggle at times with our engine's Richard thank you for keeping it real.
I'm addicted to your channel, I got a 6.0 lq4 82 el Camino project and and civic with a b18 about to be built. Love how I have a better idea what parts to run
Thanks Richard. Please keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
God yes I missed you man long time aka not 10 a day to keep me entertained but it's always good seeing you man stay safe mr motor god
Best and most informative videos on the internet!
Glad you think so!
I'm amazed that you were able to get all that done in such a short amount of time...
Keep it up Richard Holdener! Love the videos and delivery!
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for making it happen richard
Great Video, straight forward. Keep them coming
Get a new Holley Overnite Please or I and 100's of others will go into withdrawal 😝🦘🤘🏼 All hail King Richard
Stellar work and explanations as always. I’m smarter every time I finish one of your videos. Thanks for the quick reply to my email about Z06 cams the other day. I’m grateful.
Glad to help
Thanks for posting, Richard!
My pleasure!
Had me a bit worried buddy!! Right on!
All good
Thank you again Richard !! You are the man!! Thank you for working your ass off to educate me!! HOLY COW !! Hey what about holley ECU and blow through ? That would be a mess .. LOL
My savoir...Bald Dyno Jesus!!! Thanks for the daily uploads during this tribulation.
Well. Your a beast Richard. Been there done that. Lol. Don’t you just love unseen problems that hide from you. Always the funnest
My daily fix! Keep it up.
I noticed in the first video that you only had two bolts holding the right side supercharger bracket to the engine. I was wondering how that was going to work out. Glad you figured out how to address it.
Richard, I’m wondering how many of those special lemonades you’ve had. 😂 glad you’re keeping busy during these crazy times.
Awesome work once again
thnx-no drinks at work-til after work
You mentioned you had 160lbs injectors and were running E85. I tried that combo with Holley brand injectors and have a few of them seize up after sitting for just a week. Take wires from a car battery and touch them to the leads of the injector and you can tell if it clicks open or not. I smacked them with a wrench and that broke them free. I've since replaced those injectors with SD220s, but I know a lot of people that have good luck with the Bosch 220s too.
I feel ya on the can't get the EFI to run right, I thought you might have forgotten about the injectors until you figured out the EFI drivers were at fault, I was running the stock TBI on an 8 valve 1.6 Sidekick with a turbo and 4 x19 pph injectors driven by a Megasquirt, chasing a lean condition at 10 psi boost, kept increasing the PW, until I figured out I was out of fuel, swapped in some turbo T-bird 35 pph ones and they about drowned the motor, too bad E85 wasn't available at the time, would have been perfect. Because of these videos, I'm inspired to get the 16v head on the sidekick and push 15psi on E85, I'm figuring about 250 HP in a 2500 Lb. vehicle, should be a fast ride, kinda like a trophy truck with 750 to 800 HP 🙂, Thanks Richard for the inspiration to get back to building my sidekick
Sounds familiar... throw every sensor at it cause it's cheap and quick(ish) to change, still didn't find the root cause of the problem. Ironically I had a new fuel pump on hand, just didn't want to drop the tank to change it. Wait so you don't keep a shelf full of Holley ECU's on hand?? sounds like they need to step up their game... Great vids! Keep them coming!!
Somebody's been drinking a few mikes hard... still love the content
Yep hopefully 540 comes this month. Yes cross ram and twins in 78 C-3 slug. Fun soon...hoping.
Heck yeah, been tracking this company for years! From the very beginning
Well I'm not particularly happy with the outcome on this one but I appreciate your efforts, you know how it goes you can't please all of the people all of the time, but you got your thumb up keep on reaching.
we tried again today with Kevin from CSU
first minute and i feel human again
Great video
Thanks!
Definitely hit the limit of single needle and seat bowls on E85!
The quarantine seems to be affecting Richard. I think he donned a Ninja outfit and snuck out to play with the dyno at night. ; )
And he found a few mikes hard in the fridge... lol something has got to him!
who wouldn't do this?
we had the same problem, big jets and smaller bleed srews and differend powervalve and bigger second 50cc pump but since the n it has run perfect, dont leave the e85 over the winter on those... lot of trouble comes from it.
Alot of guys that run eledbrocks will be really interested and it would definitely be a different setup
You maxed out the carb remember a 1000hp blower is another, I'm guessing 300 hp on top, not bad from a single needle and seat.. if you can keep fuel bowls full I think vent tube extensions really help too force fuel through as well.... great vid👍
Excellent video need the efi on it.
So at the beginning of your video not enough fuel. Towards the end of your video again not enough fuel. You poor guy! Thank you Richard for not stopping till you made TorqStorm 6.OL make P O W A. That setup is quite the high caliber.
Water Meth with E85 works amazing. IAC under 120 all day long
Can you do a test between 2.5" and 3" intercooler piping on a turbo 5.3? 🥺
2.5
@@Kincentc I have 2.5" now. I'm just wondering if 3" will gain much power
@@BLITZERKING1 you'll gain lag and that's about it
Yes 3” makes more power. Use a 3 “
@@internationaldynoauthority693 yeah but how much more? I have 2.5 and probably won't upgrade. I'm just curious and there isn't much info out there about it
Looking forward to the retest. With more fuel.
Straight up bad assery.🍻 sounds like Holley should help a guy out? 😬
This had me thinking. Can you run both carb and injection? Have the injection fill in we’re the carb can’t and as a safety backup for fuel. Since it’s all set up already. Lol. Thank man! Keep it going.
I have a video idea for you: Do a video comparison of different displacement twin screw superchargers at the same boost level.
What if there was a splitter coming off the intercooler, using 2 carbs????
Honestly 11:30 is early for you Richard, I'm used to a 2 am upload from you.
I noticed that carburetor only had a single needle and seat. I think it's trending lean at the top of the rpm simply because you're running out of fuel in the bowls. try changing to a dual setup and see if the problem persists. I do like the idea of supplementing it with a plate NOS system that sprays fuel only!
I'd love to see some tests showing the benefits (or not) of running vacuum/smog pumps on the crankcase ventilation.
No F’s no and, no Butts... Vacuum pump on the crankcase makes horsepower every single time the more vacuum the more power simple as that
International Dyno Authority The phrase is “no ifs, ands or buts.” Also, too much vacuum will cost your power, and destroy your engine. There are a lot of ways to control the amount of vacuum for a reason...
Well a smog pump just pumps air into the exhaust to pass emissions during the smog era... Hence the name. A vacuum pump can be situational. Some engines make power some don't. It takes several HP to mechanical run the pump. So if it makes 8 hp and it takes 8hp your gain is obviously zero.
Adam R Absolutely not, on all of our engines we run four stages of vacuum on the oil pump and then we run an extra vacuum pump and just before the engine goes on the track we turn on another electric vacuum pump the more vacuum you can run in your crank case the more power you make 100% every time there is no question about that anything else that you say is just a uneducated point at this point because you haven’t tried it. All we do is test engines and every time we had another pound of mercury every time we pull more vacuum we make more power every time
Adam R Yes if you’re going to correct someone Learn........ No ifs, ands or buts. *shakes head*
I would like to see a video on spark plugs, how different heat ranges and types effect performance. Then match it up with a detailed video of timing vs boost. Keep the boost levels constant and show the effects of what a 1/2 degree of timing will do when boost climbs.
I could definitely see one of your weird setups in my c10
Richard I would like to see you run a eledbrock avs2 blowthru to see if it can be done.
All the extra parts but no spare ecm.....Dam those vendors to hell for not giving more free stuff
I see a lot of issues with qft BAN carbs on biger power engines.. they need flow and boost activated PV and lots of PVRC.
What Would Sloppy Do? Run a batch fire wasted spark microsquirt! (If you happen to have one, but probably wait for your ECU.)
Richard you need to make a LS combo cook book.
How about getting a 2nd carb? Making 1000+ from and single 4 barrel is good. Dual Quads would be fantastic!
have you done a video where you have Twin charged an engine, where you feed a twin screw or roots blower with a pair of really big turbos, if you want to see torq monster thats where its at.
Can you get those Holley ECU's repaired? Or are they just a throw away item?
Pretty expensive to replace.
Sounds like the boosters in the carb have too small of passage, or it had the wrong needle and seats restricting fuel flow..
What killed the Holley Injector driver? Low impedance injectors with Holley software set to High Z ?
If you run e85, do the combustion chamber get cooler? If you use carb it evaporate and cools the intake but if you run e85 on injectors. Does e85 cool the chamber temperature?
Do you what happened to the Holley ECU? As in, do have any idea why it stopped working? How did you burn it up? Inquiring minds want to know!
looks cool as shit for sure great job
Don't give up. How about an external indexed (EV kit motor n speed controller) motor to drive those blowers and compare power output per lb of boost
Q: "Whats better than two superchargers?"
A: "Uhh, Three superchargers?"
Wow I was just about to buy a Holly terminator X to run on the street now I have second thoughts why did yours burn up?
Could a splash of race gas fixed the lean issue considering how much more E85 it takes to make the same power with say a 110?
That engine would be great for offroad, especially mud trucks.
hey richard ,first question is when is the m122 on a 5.3 ls video comeing,,ill send pics of mine when i finish or better a video. that carb is bad ass bro.so i am tring to find a btr blower cam for that motor to can you give some sugestions i need low endto mid.so i wanna get ur book but man i really am trying to get into thisindustry i dont wanna get into my dirty laundry online butlife sucks all i got is motors. so you need a helper around shop i need a relocate anyways in mid michigan, but hey what would be awesome is a ls electric water pump vsvmanual and high flow tests on turbo ,suercharge .also running the different melling oil pumps with boost and supercharge to see dyno differences, noone ever talks about high flow vs high volume.hey i hand ported my injector hats and am useing them on the bottom with ls3 short injectors and tbss intake, its the last stand before the m122 lands on it ,also im putting gen 4 knock sensors in the block, its gen3 ya getting wild now.but back to porting i am doing heads enlarged valves myself porting and building flow bech..so hope to see some more awesome videos,i would help with the holley ecu but had to pick up a mig welder and spool gun for my custom eaton m122 supercharger intake with custom intercooler
Try a crutch style brpv. I had this issue back when I ran blow through carbs. Crutch style basically uses an outside source of air pressure to open the power valve. I used a small air pump from one of those cigarette lighter portable tire inflators. You wire that in using an adjustable Hobbs switch so you can set at what psi you want it to open. Then extensive modifications are required to the metering block and the power valve itself. You must drill a channel in the metering block through to the power valve and also modify the power valve so it opens with boost rather than vacuum. You can also run an air regulator before the power valve so you can adjust it slightly higher than your boost pressure ( if it's the same or lower it won't open at all). This system is rather complex but it works perfectly. Another small trick you can try is vent tube extensions. Basically run a hose from the vent tubes on the carburetor into the carb hat and up into the intercooler piping. Usually 12-18" does the trick. I would try this first before the crutch style power valve.
Totally agree with you Richard I'd rather have a more reliable supercharger than a Chinese turbo even if it makes a little less power
How much air flow drop do you get with the 90 degree carby hat on? It would be interesting to see if this design zaps the power from the engine?
I’m tryna do a turbo build for a daily motor just street truck races etc for fun right now I have a 4.8 year 2000 what’s better for my type of build a 4.8 a 5.3 or a 6.0 and what year from those motors cause I’ve heard gen IV motors are better etc ?
Hotrod sleeper that red Silverado man!
Can you run it NA but with the belt for the SCs installed I would love to see how much HP is given up to the SCs
I would like to find out what killed that ecu.
I think the no intercooler with carb topic needs a closer look. I'll start a thread on the sloppy page if you care to chime in Richard. Long story short, injected or carbureted, the fuel does atomize before it burns. Is the difference in intake temp more to do with where it's measured? It would be near impossible to measure temps after the fuel injectors on a normal port injected layout.
You the man.....
Crazy awesome......
I am somewhat sceptical. When that engine was idling, it sure sounded like a "Turbo Cam". 😉
Question how much can a sbe LS3 take with un gapped rings? I’ve been wondering this for a while. I’m also curious about how much the block would hold also @richardholdener
Dat .060" ring gap though lmao.. be funny to throw on a holley hi ram and use the twin carb adapter top and run 2 e85 carbs just to see.
You can show your shrouding valves video
Sounds like you need a bigger carb than the passages in the carb aren't large enough to support the blowers
My biggest question is, how were the injector drivers damaged. I'm about to install my Terminator system and I don't want to hurt it by accident
the whole vacuum pump conversation, isn't it's main job is to control aeriation to the oil? Also controls oil-fuel/moisture vapors? and brakes if using vacuum booster.
How can I fit this combo in my 4th gen f body ?
Boost reference power valve for the secondaries.
I thought you should be able to see fueling problem during dyno run by looking at wideband O2 data?
