  • Alien Gear Rapid Force Duty Holster. I have been using the Alien Gear Rapid Force Duty Holster on duty for about 3 months now. It's a holster and it does it's job. The rapid force holster does provide a more ergonomic draw stroke depending on the structure of your hand.
    You definitely don't need to run out and buy the rapid force because its a newer shiny object, unless you have a reason to. That reason can also be "because I can" which is cool.

    The loud holstering hasn’t been too bad. Honestly the audible noise of a gun coming out from a partners holster on a traffic stop does the same for me when he’s trying to warn me of something hazardous he sees.

    I ran a safariland for 5 years and switched to the rapid force 2 years ago. I recently threw on my old belt for one day with the safariland and I’ll never do that again. The rapid force is great once you get over the initial learning curve.

    Agree with training over using different gear mindset. As a retired military special agent, we wore both OWB holsters and drop-leg holsters (when deployed) and I’d have my guys (prior to deploying) wear the drop-legs and practice drawing daily…….to as best as possible create new muscle memory. I’d heard once that it takes repeating an action 300 times to create muscle memory tendencies. So I believe 100% in train, train, train!
    Stay safe out there gents!
    Appreciate your video. 🤙

    Maybe if they lined the holster with felt that would help quite the draw.

    Make sure you keep it clean. Sand can gum up the works. That being said I have carried it for nearly 4 years, and that issue happened once.

    Yeah you’re right it is a noisy holster. So far I’m also really enjoying it. I’ve had it for about two weeks and my draw has never been so fast. I feel like the retention is awesome as well. Overall, I am very impressed with it.

      Nice! Recently the thumb release became loose on mine. Which is the downside of all the screws. I also don’t use the quick detach because I don’t like how far out it makes the holster sit so I have to remove all the screws to tighten it.

    • @chrisbeal5349
      @chrisbeal5349 Před 7 měsíci

      @@Forward_Concepts ahh you have the quick release one? Mine isn’t QD. You’re totally right about all the screws though. I went and locktited all of them down. I just ran it in a pistol match yesterday and it held up very well. I found out also you can adjust the tightness on the pistol with the tensioning screw. It made a difference with how loud it holstered and wore inside of it.

    I purchased an Alien Gear holster a few years ago. We use Gen5 G19 MOSs with Trijicon RMOs. I added a Viridian Weapon Technologies X5Lcam Gen 3 w/ Light, Green Laser, and HD Camera . The laser, light, and camera options limited my holster options to the Rapid Force. After working with the combo for a while, I like it. It isn't quiet. Reholstering is my biggest problem, mainly due to the X5LCam's wide oval shape. Reholstering requires straight insertion, or it isn't going in. The X5lCam and Alien Gear holster was a pricey (My expense) decision, but I am happy with it.

Its equipped with a holoson scs 320 & a Olight PL-3R, it fits fine however i can remove the firearm from my holster after just pressing only the hood release and not pushing down on the retention release lever. I sent them another email regarding this so lets see what there responce is.

    You better take a retention course. Bad guys train to defeat holster retention. I’ve used all sorts of gear lvl 0-2,3. Duty as Military, MP City Officer and Fed LEO. Bianchi, safari, Blackhawk and nylon crap. You made the most important observation. How does the gear work for you! Training and more importantly training. Great insight! Thank you.

    Just started carrying my duty G17 in this holster. No complaints as of yet. Two weeks ago, a co-worker got into a scuffle with a mentally incapacitated individual who tried pulling his gun out of his holster. LEO’s need a Level lll. Sometime in your carrier a bad guy will go for your firearm!

    I was an armed officer with a couple of private security companies back in the mid-2000s. I wore a Level II Safariland Raptor holster.....it was okay, but I didn't like the draw technique you had to use to draw it. If I were to go back into security work today, I'm gonna use either Dara holsters or Alien Gear. I'm done with Safariland. And they're made in Mexico anyways....Dara and Alien are made right here in the USA.

    I tested one for my department during our transition to glock model 22s to glock model 45 mos and i had the same complaints. The holsters quick release mechanism also rattled much more than the safarilands and drove me crazy. We ended up staying with safarilands after the transition.

    • @Forward_Concepts
      @Forward_Concepts  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Ah, that’s not something I heard being an issue. Someone did bring up the fact that you can fit your finger into the trigger guard but I also found out the safariland is the same way. My only complaint is the material. I know “Kydex” can be made however …but if there was a holster with the material of the safariland and the release mechanism of the alien gear that would be nice

  • @AngePears
    @AngePears Před 7 měsíci +2

    The Rapid Force Duty Holster shell is made of Boltaron not Kydex which is a better quality of material.

    Good to know! I’ve been waiting for a tear now for this holster to come out for my P226. I want to upgrade to a red dot but Safariland basically only makes duty holsters for Glocks and the Sig P320. Also, while I want the holster to be red dot compatible, I do NOT want a weapon light cutout. This holster will fit the bill if Aliengear ever releases it!

      Man the alien gear rapid force is like the best features of Blackhawk and Safariland to make what they have which is really nice. I’ve run level 3 Blackhawk and 2 and 3 Safariland. The alien gear does take some adjusting as would be for any transition to a new platform but I sold all my other gear and just run alien gear at this time. Currently it fits my needs the best but you have to do your research and make the best decision to fit your needs.

    After 1.5 yrs mine no longer has level 2 retention. I am able to remove my pistol without the depressing the release. It takes minimal force to remove it. A warranty request was submitted to Aliengear and I have yet to receive a response. Just giving folks a heads up.
