It is Xal'atath speaking. It is the final battle for her, she has been raid prepping for like a 100,000 years, now she is at her final boss.
I’m getting Infinity War vibes we are going to lose and do some time travel shit to defeat void on midnight expansion.

The War Within - We learn about Xalatath's plan to deliver Azeroth to the Void
We face off against the final old gods and her and win.
We learn about Sargeras' motivation to create the legion to face off Amanthul
Midnight - Sargeras is redeemed and alongside Illidan which becomes his apprentice we go on to deliver the final strike to the Void lords.
We learn from them about Amanthul's plan to brainwash us to do the dirty work for the Titans, after Sargeras does a heroic stand to end the void lords. Azeroth awakens as an entity, so basically we are leaving the planet at that point ( yes Star Wars )
The last one - With the info about the Titan's plan to take control over reality and after they used us to get rid of the Void, we become a nuissance to them.
Alongside Illidan and other heroes we face them off with the ending we should have had with Zooval. Neither side wins, but we get to reset the reality with us becoming the First Ones.
The First Ones were always hinted as an unknown entity prior to the Titans, which ran an experiment of chaos vs order to see who comes out on top.
We deliver that experiment thus becoming the new First Ones resetting WoW to 2.0
Xaryu is so gullible... the term *final battle* has been used about a hundred times through WoW's history lmfao
The revolution of WOW is mandatory, its 20 years old game. Blizz said that they plan for 20 yrs more, so its not the final trilogy of the game. After the trilogy maybe they'll do huge revamp to the game or WOW 2, who knows...
"The final battle" this coming from xal ataths perspective, so all of her plans come to fruition here and this will be the final battle of her plans (or herself). Thats the way i hear that.
The 'final battle' here probably just means that we're going into a 3 expansion long battle that will be the end of wow as we know it. Maybe wow2, maybe wc4, maybe something much smaller, but they said that this 3 expansion would lead us into next 20 years of story telling, so I think this is just going to be a big cosmic battle, lasting 3 expansion and then something a bit newer.

When people don't understand WOW has always been other worlds, dimensions, races, magics and space. If you just don't know the lore just tell us. "WOW is orc vs human and no space goats" NO WRONG SORRY.
Depends, from a meta-perspective they're actually right as much as the current lore ones, they just decided to remain loyal with the first lore that came up (this happens mostly with retcons, you can deny them but they will still be there).

”The final battle draws near” does not mean ”the final battle is here”, she’s not saying the final battle has come yet. Soubds to me like she’s getting all the chips in a row for the final battle - whatever that even actually means

I think "the final battle" is the final batlle for Azeroth, or the final battle for the world-soul. Not the end of wow, or the end of war and battle in this universe.
Legion was the “final battle” for Azeroth and somehow we saved it so it can start another “final battle” again

Next time? TBC, WOD and Legion already did that, it's nothing new to WoW

I have yet to have a good answer as to what wow2 would be. People bang on about it constantly for the past 10+ years without actually saying what would be different. People who say 'A new engine' don't understand how game engines or coding works. The 'engine' we have now is so far detached of where it was 10 years ago. It is constantly improved and sections replaced over and over. There is no WoW2, this is already WoW15+. A new MMO perhaps, but WoW 2 would be like Overwatch 2.
Yes Xaryu, retail is clearly becoming WoW 2. WoW Classic would be WoW 1. "Final Battle" would be to seguay into official WoW 2 transformation =)
I have a strong feeling these are going to be the final three expansions.
The newer expansions just feel so foreign to me. Like even in MoP, I feel the game was still Warcraft. Now looking at The War Within, It almost feels like another game.

I don't get why yall want classic like crap over and over and over. They need to evolve, move on, move to new areas, azeroth is spent, next stop after underground is space or different timeliness and multiverse
For that just make a new name and game. Let wow die. Its lived a full and long life. Emulators will always be around for people to play the older versions.

Otherwise, you then have wow 1, wow2, wow3, wow4 etc etc. wow has evolved into something different I agree, it’s not the same as the classic raiding and dungeon experience, but every other aspect is the same. It’s still do dungeons, do M+, do raids (IF you WANT to) and farm old content for mounts, transmog, pets. You can even do chromie time to go back and do old content while levelling through it like you used to. People relish in classic because “this is what the game was back when it was released” but even now classic cata has released, people are saying “it’s not classic anymore.” But obviously it isn’t, the graphics changed, mechanics changed, everything changed from 2005-2010, just like EVERY OTHER game in the universe does.
You don’t need another game and “let wow die” it’s still world of Warcraft. Whatever you say, it’s still using core mechanisms, still doing dungeons and raids, still farming old content. I do agree, story writing and other things have become excessive so to speak, but it’s still wow. There’s no need for another game.
You need change, every expansion needs change because if we were still doing the same content to this day, still doing old raids, old content as current content, still playing molten core over and over again, the game would have died back in MOP era.
I feel the same. Classic has Bad class designs, Bad graphics, small world, Dumb pvp, no mechanics.
Simply because Retail isn’t as good as Classic. If they made Retail Fun, engaging, challenging & worth playing we’d play it. However, Retail is utter garbage… They need to make SO many changes to Retail to make it even remotely viable for people to come back. At least Classic is still WoW & were able to enjoy the game we enjoyed before WoD killed it. The War Within will struggle on launch as people won’t preorder it & they’ll wait to hear people’s feedback. If it’s positive, people will start playing during the second patch if it’s poor people will stay on Cata/MoP.

Get your facts straight, The WW are hitting subscriptions records nowdays, more than shadowlands. Those 2 new characters from the end sure do not look like sometyhing from wow... The evil lady from the end, she s wow, the other two, wtf...
The new black character's get up just doesn't say WoW. It kind of looks like Destiny? I think the Avatar lady looks like WoW, but the ritualistic dance was just different, which is not a bad thing, just different.
I wasn't a fan of either of those things. They both do not look like they belong in WoW. It would be different if it was a side character, but it looks like Blizzard has made her/he/it (?) a main character.
This is easily the worst cinematic of all expansions. They just used done material from past expansions, slam it into this one while showing this art that does look cool, but has nothing to do with WoW.
Even here they decided to save a few bucks, first half of the video anyone could do it with a simple program, it's just lazy.
Relax its just a date announcement trailer buddy.

Sure, if you don't engage with it at all. Xal'atath offering a recap for us is an allusion to the fact she's been around and pulling strings from the beginning. It also shows a little bit of respect she has for mortals, which is interesting.
Yeah, it's also a nostalgia push, but try going a little deeper than surface level.
yeah so, i don't think they have ever made an actual cinematic to announce a release date for an expansion, if you remember the official cinematic for war within was shown at blizzcon in november, so this is in no way meant to compete with official expansion cinematics, in fact this is the first time they do a full rendered cinematic to simply announce a release date, and there you are, complaining.
