As horde, this is now a druid weapon lol. They completly ruined 2h spec for shamans. In doing so they ruined the entire class.

Honsetly after trying this strat as well i have to agree with Asmon. Doging attacks from bosses in the dlc is absolut ASS. You have to doge a bosses attacks 4-6 times because of how crazy their combos are. So yeah blocking seems the way to go in the dlc. I mean to be fair Elden Ring is the spiritual successor to Dark Souls and in Dark Souls blocking was everything.

The downside is it's not great in the main game because a lot of enemies (Maliketh, Malenia, Mohg, for example) have means of circumventing a shield. It's GOAT'ed in the DLC because none of the DLC bosses have apparently ever faced a shield lol.

I made a shield build after watching Asmon and it’s actually really fun. Using a bleed spear though. All you do is hold shield and spam R1 lol.

I hate it when people dont be creativ ... he actually google for "easy Tank build" and use it. This is the first tank build that pops up.He also use always the Same Weapon like WTF... Its so much fun using new content, new weapons etc ...

I had the same experience with ER, just got bored grinding bosses, never felt satisfying beating em. I miss the exploration and feeling of surprise never knowing what's around the next corner like in the old souls games.

I played Demon Souls, Dark Souls 1 2 and 3 and Demon Souls remake all with shield and pokey stick builds. So I got pretty tired of that tbph. Sekiro and Bloodbourne helped get me out of that spear and shield mindset. But its always. Always. Always. Been powerful in the Souls genre to go heavy armor + shield + pokey or smashy thing. This really isn't new.

I started my souls journey with bloodborne. Its why ive always gone with dex builds and dodging. The main downside to this build is that it removes the fun. It removes the effort. It removes the ability to actually improve at the game

Wake up ppl. It was a scam. Asmongold just watched the screen, while someone else did all the run. Do you really BELIEVE, Asmon killed LAST BOSS, at 2nd try? C'mon... Best ER streamers, and every one of them, died OVER 20 times, until to beat Radahn. Even with such massive tank build, no way in a million years Asmon could kill Radahn that easy at 2nd attempt.

Who woulda guessed that there’s a way to play the game that’s not the way everyone says you need to play it to be “good”

As someone who played the entire base game I will explain the downsides. 1. If you hold block and attack with a spear you keep your guard up but do less damage. If you drop your guard you are vulnerable but do more damage. 2. Blocking only protects from the front so it’s all about spacing and positioning. 3. It only blocks about 80% of the attacks in the game so you still have to play around the other attacks. 4. All blocking does is the damage first goes to your stamina bar and overflow damage goes to your health. Attacking and dodging also costs stamina and you have to drop your guard to refill your stamina. Basically it’s a stamina managment plus spacing game where you attack and block until you are low on stamina then you have to back off to rest without getting hit. It’s actually the most fun way to play the game.

To be fair the 90/10 wouldn’t be as skewed if the PvP felt better. I dunno if you’ve played as a caster in retail arena but it’s a horrible experience. Not only are you susceptible to all the CCs but all the micro ccs/kicks are specifically designed to shut you down too. Kicks don’t bother melee so all the CC in the game can be zeroed in on you to shut you down. It’s an extremely frustrating experience.
