Really really informative tutorial. Thank you. I have just bought the mini 2 as my Hubsan Zino is now limited in where you can fly. Follow me and active track were features on the Zino, despite no obstacle collision and I never had any problems because I always kept the drone at a height that it couldn't crash into things. Mini 2 arrives today with the fly more combo. Can't wait to try it out and I will give the Litchi App a go. Would probably only use it to follow transmitter though
Thank you for taking the time, patience and especially the passion to share your experiences with us. Be 7 * Gavin ! 👍
You're most welcome! Thank you for watching
The Dynamic Home Point sold me! Very useful!
Something ive noticed with my Air 2S is when it disconnects the drone turns about 15-20 degrees before raising to RTH altitude. I think it depends on which direction Home is because sometimes it turns further. I assume this is a safety feature for the sensors to check the area in the direction of Home. You guys noticed that?
A really well explained guide to Litchi - I bought it on the strength of this and like it a lot. Perhaps it's worth pointing out to viewers that running a battery down to less than 15% before landing is somewhat risky flying!
I like to be near home around 24%, and then use landing approach to burn battery and capture anything cinematic around the launch point. I got spooked in the desert though, because I kept pushing the limit and wanting to see a little more. RTH is a lifesaver.
Just a quick reminder - Flying any drone using litchi with no obstacle avoidance is no different to using Quickshots on the DJI Fly app - Take note of your surroundings - fly carefully just as you would using quickshots and the risk is exactly the same 😀
I think it works great. I have to say drone's with obstacle avoidance still crash as well lol this is all about how you fly etc, I would be comfortable using this app. Good Job Gavin 👍
Nice one mate, I'm in the middle of putting something similar together, any ideas on what the keys are about
They do indeed, DC rainmaker is a prime example, he tested the Mavic 3 which has full avoidance and it crashed, air 2s has no side sensors and can crash not to mention the next DJI mini will likely have avoidance sensors but not full so again same scenario.
Those are for the FN button Martin :)
@@GAVINHR , ok I'll investigate further as I think that's just behaving the same as in the fly app at the moment
Another reason I like Litchi is the ability to create a straight line waypoint mission and setting the heading mode in setups to user defined, and the gimbal pitch mode to disabled. Using this technique, you can fly a line path and pretty much accomplish a course lock, which for the life of me I've always wondered why this is not available on the DJI Fly app. Being able to not worry about the right stick to maintain speed and just focus on heading and gimbal pitch is a great thing.
That was like TapFly in GO4 right? Where you would click on the screen and then the drone would just head in that direction indefinitely, allowing you to gimble and rotate the drone as you wanted. I also cannot understand why DJI have not included that in the Fly app.
Can you set the speed to very slow flying?
Even the old Hubsan zino app have the waypoint capability
Thanks. Like you I flew for about a year with my original Mini and then bought a Mini2 but with the delay in DJI releasing the sdk I have more or less forgotten the Litchi App features. Now that I can use Litchi again your video was the best explained of the several I watched to remind me of them.
You're more welcome ! Glad it was helpful
Just got it because of this post. Thanks. Was worth it just to get follow mode on my mini 2.
Been using the Litchi app for a few weeks and it's transformed my Mavic Mini the extra features available are great ...
Brilliant news! Thanks for watching
Great video Gav. It's amazing what a little bit of software tuning can actually achieve. Pitty dji didn't want to do this themselves. So does it run its own app to fly or does it run alongside with the fly app ? As you mentioned about having the latest upto to date app and drone firmware to date. I've seen alot of people running older software as they are afraid of upgrading because of the recent updates from dji not being great. Keep up the good work Gav 👏
Hi Richard 😀 so yes it runs as its own app - but because a lot of the settings are actually saved on the drone any RTH / gimbal / FN buttons just remain as they are, basically meaning you could happily fly on the DJI fly app then switch to litchi to perform a shot using one of the smart modes and back again if needed - I would only advise one of them open at a time to avoid conflict, yes well the SDK's are based on the up to date firmware basically that is why it is important 👌 thanks for your support as always
Hi mate, beaut videos love your work. Just a question and I can’t seem to get a simple answer. My Mavic Mini, if I lose signal with the remote, will it RTH of continue the mission. Some people say one thing and others something else. Regards Wayne, Sydney Australia.
Hi Wayne, it will return to home if you lose connection during a waypoint mission this is because litchi constantly sends the commands to the drone as the waypoints don’t store on the drone directly
Hope this helps :)
Great video Gavin, as usual. I have Litchi for my Mavic Mini but have never used it so far. Time to give it a go I think. Cheers
Cheers for making the video, explained a lot of features for me
Great series on Litchi software. I would also say that Litchi is a pleasure to work with. Any time I've had questions for their support organization they've been very responsive and super helpful. Imagine that. And if you ask them about future plans they will generally give you an honest straightforward answer..."yes we plan to" or "no we don't have any plans to..." rather than a robotic "we have no information about that at this time" crap you get from another TLA company.
They have been brilliant throughout this process and always been happy to help and give me their plans and timeframes, glad you've enjoyed the series - last one I will cover waypoints and that should wrap up the series ! Hope you have had a good start to the year 🙂
@@GAVINHR Happy New Year. Hope all is well with and yours as well. Thanks. I look forward to it. Yes, I'm doing well. Just been busy doing other things so not much time for YT. It looks like you are off to a good start this year. Keep the great content coming.
I got the same impression from studying their replies to Litchi feedback on the Playstore. 1. No copy and paste replies. 2. They even replied to problems mentioned in high star rating reviews, like they read ALL reviews? 3. They take responsibility and give a straightforward answer. 4. They don't reply to every single review with some stupid "We glad you like us!" I've never seen such appropriate replies to product reviews.
Sincerely, the new fanboy.
Hello Jet Martin
How can I contact litchi ??
merci super explications j'ai découvert des choses que ne n'avait pas vu
Again another great video Gavin. Very informative. Looking forward to the official release of the lichi app. With your videos, I will hit the ground running.
I certainly hope so! Thanks for watching ☺️
Cheers for the upload. I just purchased the app and came across your tutorial.
Thank you for the awesome review of the software. Until now the whole thing was a mystery. Its seems clean and uncluttered. 👍
Awesome vid! Made me comfortable with trying follow me mode.
Good information Gavin 👍👍👍👍
I like the waypoints and using interpolate in options, makes things a bit more fluid and interesting with the camera with POI.
Used it on the old mavic pro and loved it
Waypoints I'll cover next and should be a good one! Thanks for your feedback and watching as always
@@GAVINHR maybe you will make a scenario when you will land the drone before finishing all way-points.
For example: you have 8 points on 8KM. For sure you can't fly so much. So at the waypoints 3 and 5 you need to land. How will you resume the flight from the points 3 and 5 in a way that the recorded video to be like it was recorded in just one flight shooting?
The 8KM distance was just an example to not receive a reply telling me to not land at point 3 or 5.
When reaching point 3 maybe it can return home but for point 5 is needed to start from point 3.
Sorry about my english, I hope you understand the idea.
Great start of going through Litchi in detail
I would like you to go through the way-point settings especially the heading modes - it seems as the Manual(UC) mode will allow you to rotate the drone as if flies along the way-point route. My thought is that as mini 2 does not have obstacle sensors - creating a route avoiding obstacles allows me to freely look around without any risk of running into something.
Yes waypoints will be my final video in the series
Looks like a very nice layout, with also more beneficial control of camera settings. I like it. Great preview, thank you.
Thank you for watching 🙂
Outstanding!! Great Video and Good Info...👍😷
Thank you kindly
Great video. I think the waypoint mode is amazing.
Looks like I am going to have to get my head screwed back on for Litchi. I use to use Litchi way back on the Mavic and Phantom days. In generating a waypoint flight I remember that you can also see the altitude of each waypoint you have chosen to make sure you don't crash say into a hillside. And this is generating your flight at home on you home computer and when you open the litchi app the flight that you generated to shown, select the flight and fly. So looks like back to the books....
Good man Gav, cracking review in good simple speak for thickies like me. Cheers buddy 👍
Most welcome :) thanks for watching!
Great some tips mini2 always wacthing here 😍
Glad you like them!
Thanks for your efforts in explaining all these updates. I have just a question that needs some clarification.
I have purchased the Litchi and already activated my mini se but it's not connecting with the error of signal lost popping up. I tried to get the updated version of the Litchi but can't find it on Google play store. Please assist advise how I can get the update and connect with Litchi. App connects phone and controller but with this error the screen remains black. Appreciate your responses.
Thanks for the video Gavin, it answer some of my previous questions. You are doing an amazing job discovering all these functionalities of Litchi. Also, I drop an idea for your future videos: combine Litchi missions and an open source photogrammetry software to create 3D models with the Mini 2.
That would be great if it can accomplish that
@@frederickgordon6703 Yes it can.I have done it. With mission with 57 photos and Maps Made Easy I could create a kmz file and see it in Google Earth. Thank you for this video.
@@rogeriotojeiro2884 thank you. Keep safe
Dronelink is better for doing this.
Yeah, but you need to buy then that app too 😅
An excellent video Gavin, helping debunk some of the scare stories that other people are putting about warning against using 3rd party apps. I first used Litchi many years ago with my Phantom 2 VP, then went onto the DJI Go4 app when I bought my Phantom 4 Pro and for whatever reason never tried Litchi with that or the Saprk that joined the fleet later.. Recently I've become unhappy with DJIs 'Fly' on my Mini 2, mainly because newer versions crash regularly on my Galaxy A71 phone. DJIs response was that I should buy a new phone, not very helpful! I eventually found out that v1.4.2 was a stable version for me. I've been testing the Litchi Beta now for a couple of weeks with no issues, although it took me a while to work out the settings required to shoot the 360 panoramas that I like to feature in my photo wesite. Of course you have to be careful of any 'autoflight' modes in a drone with no collision avoidance systems, but that's just common sense. Keep up the good work!
It's quite baffling myself, it's quite amazing some those that warn against yet it's quite clear they have not used the app plus clearly don't have the knowledge that the base software and controls is still DJI so I don't know where they think the risk is coming from, just like quickshots you have to be careful but aside from that if you are not using the additional smart features it just behaves as a screen for your camera and all the safety features still work as they should with all the same features, I don't really understand their point quite frankly but each to their own eh! I have always found litchi to be stable also like yourself it's never crashed on me and if there is anything that doesn't work - such as the gimbal in waypoints this is down to the SDK provided by DJI ! Plus as litchi are a software developer they continue to improve which is always good. Thank you for watching
Highly recommended and a must have App
I just got the IOS version and did some testing with the follow mode using a Mini 2. Worked great and planning to make some cycling videos using that feature.
Fantastic easy to understand video. Looks familiar area your in. Looks like around the grove hill road area
Good Video, Thanks
Top Notch content Gavz!! Thanks man..
Thanks Kevin, Its not for everybody of course but i wanted to give a full rundown for those that may want to purchase it. Hope you're well

Thankyou great video very useful
And helpful :)
Thanks Man! Will use your footage in a new video as discussed in an upcoming video :)
@@GAVINHR as and when mate it must take loads of time up bad enough me trying to do 1 lol. Keep up tbe great work Gavin :)
I haven't had any problems with litchi on my mini se. I like this app
Fantastic video thanks for this, could you tell me if with this app and AEB you can take 5 bracketed photos? 3 just aint cutting it on the fly app, thank you! :D
I know a Hull accent when I hear one lol love the videos mate,I've had my mavic mini a few months now and still learning new tricks 👍
Great drone still in the right hands!
I always use litchi to fly my mini se. I have never had a problem. The app is feature-packed & I find it absolutely reliable. I am constantly walking when flying the drone so the Dynamic Home point for me is very useful and saves me having to manually do it as with the DJI app. Well worth the money spent I think
I completely agree! Glad you're happy with it
Do you use the app on an android device? I am trying to determine if the functionality would vary based on OS.
@@joshuachavez9086 yes. Android
Do the contrast / sharpness / saturation settings work on video footage on your SE?
Great information in this video. I have been using Litchi since 2016, and have had no problems what so ever. I mostly use the DJI app when flying FPV mode, but use Litchi for orbit and waypoints. It's a well tested and established alternative to the DJI Fly app. I like the feature of auto zooming the map, since it's a pain to have to take your hands off the sticks to pinch on the DJI map. Thanks for making a Litchi tutorial.. it's well done.
Thank you very kindly for the support, completely agree I have never had an issue with litchi at any stage and established as you rightly say
"I mostly use the DJI app when flying FPV mode"
Because it's better for FPV?
Does Litchi add lag or something?
Which "version" is it (latest update) ?
Thanks
Is there monthly subscription? Or just one time fee
woow very nice dji mavic mini
Great video... I'm subbing
Many thanks for your very informative video. I know there is a setting for compass calibration, but I did not see an option to calibrate the IMU. Is there one for that?
I used the APK version (free😊) for Android just for now, will buy it later, after my test for Vr Mode,.another helpful video from you man. Thank you so much 🙏
Hi Gavin I wonder are you covered with DJI Cover refresh if you crash your drone using the litchi app if you are covered it would be a brilliant app to use
Fantastic video thank you so much. My question is is there a way you can record your voice explaining what your drone is doing while flying the drone.
Well every day is a school day cheers Gav didn't know about those other features spot on mate.
No worries man! It's not just about the extra features like tracking or follow it's still a perfectly usable app in its own right :)
@@GAVINHR be honest i used it mainly for waypoints dodgy 5 mile round trips i no longer do now i stick to the drone code.
Yep me too! Keeping drones within the code is quite a challenge and limiting but all part of the challenge! Cheers Johnny
@@GAVINHR was a while back new gear no idea lol all switched on now.
Well done. Really good educational video. The dynamic homepoint justifies the price, if it works reliably. Apologies if you mentioned this but if you are flying with DYNAMIC homepoint, how does the RTH work if it loses connection to the controller. It cannot see the controller and therefore cannot return to it.
The drone returns to the last dynamic home point it received.
Sorry cliff i missed this one, the previous answer is correct , G P thanks for that 🙂
Great video, I am a new mini 2 owner and newb to flying drones.
Question about Litchi, does it have geo restrictions that will block take off, limit flight etc.. like the DJI fly app?
Gavin, great video! Love your channel. Any chance you will test out the FPV functionality of Litchi with the Mini 2?
It's something I can look into yes 🙂
Great video. "Of course" :)
Hey Gaving. Great video!!!
Question….it says to make sure you are using the latest DJI firmware. I really do not wanna upgrade to DJI 1.04 as you can not go backwards to an older firmware if you choose. Will this impact Litchi if I stick with 1.03???
No it will have no impact at all and you can continue on 01.03.0000 no problem at all
Nice detailed video buddy 👍
Thanks man! Hope you're Well! When's the next upload?
Nice detailed video👍👌
Thanks man ! Hope you enjoyed it
After about 5 minutes I was already convinced that Litchi is way better than DJI Fly app. Both apps are good, I see them both as complementary, DJI Fly comes free with the drone, and for Litchi you pay extra, for me worth every euro. Good review m8!
Thanks. That was a great video. I like Litchi, I've had this app for years............. Problem is, I sell my older drones for a newer one every year. So I haven't been able to use the Litchi app very much. This year (2023), I decided to buy a Mini 2 just so that I can use the Litchi app.
Well you just sold that to me... I only want it for the follow and tracking features so brilliant cheers
Great video , I once tried Litchi years ago on the phantom 2 but did not like it. But will try it out with this. Thanks for the cover I have just paid £72 for covering my drone ( mini 2 £600 ) and 1000,000 for a year and thats amazing. I did not know you could cover your drone, £72 is worth it for the drone alone. I am not bothered for the £1000,000 as I am already covered for £5000,000 for £19.00 a year. I hope this covers using Litchi, Thanks for sharing, Ray K UK YNWA.
wtf is 1000,000? Speak English. You're from Britain, aren't you? lol
Thanks for the video, it covered a lot. One question, is it part of the SDK for the voom control on a Mini 2 or it that part of the Fly app that will not be on the Litchi app? Or is it there and I just haven't found it yet?
Damn! I knew I forgot something! Hold the FN button and scroll wheel and you can zoom in or out. Apologies for the oversight
@@GAVINHR Thank you.
Great video and safety test, well done!! my open questions are: 1. in the litchi app, the last item is keys...I have looked into that, but can't figure out what is means and how to use (Mini 2). ...My second question is to the followme in litchi...have noticed that although I am flying slowly, the video still looks a little jerky (no wind). Not sure how to handle this better and next I am very confused how to best set the follow me so that the drone either follows from the back, east, west, front.
Hey. that follow function will always be jerky. Its the software trying to track the subject. One solution I tried is to film in 60fps then slow down to 24fps or 30fps in editing. This MIGHT give you a few seconds of usable footage between “jerks”. It’s worked for me. It’s trial and error. But that jerkiness will always be there.
Gavin, thanks for making this video. I noticed you didn't show the actual RTH landing in either instance. Do you prefer to manually take over to complete this task at the end, is it a confidence thing? Second, can you confirm if Litchi does the RTH in real time battery reserve calculations like DJI fly, by this I mean if the drone understands it is at risk to return to home under battery given the distance it is (e.g. range test).
Good question my friend
My apologies I completely thought I answered this one? Yes I always take over manual landing, I treat RTH as just that as safety feature and as soon as the drone is home I just manually land but I have excecuted a full RTH and performed fine - as for the second question yes just like the fly app it has low battery RTH - I show this on my full app review video based on your question which is why I thought I answered it.
@@GAVINHR I saw the low battery RTH when you went low (
That's a great video, very well explained, so much so that I'm quite keen to pay for it and give it a shot. Litchi seems to do everything I need it to do that the DJI app doesn't do for me. I'll check out those other videos you've done on the trackings and way points as that's what I'm needing!
It's a decent piece of kit, it's still in beta mode and will only get better of course !
@@GAVINHR I'll hang tight till it comes out after Beta, I'm still brand new I to drones so I've got heaps to learn!
Absolutely, it's actually a lot more in-depth than people realise this hobby but take it steady and learn the ropes and what you can achieve is amazing ! Thanks for watching
@@GAVINHR Absolutely! I flew choppers for 10 years and this is TOTALLY different, love having so much to learn & master! I've got some plans for the drone with my CZcams channel and motorcycling so the Litchi app will do everything I'm hoping! Should be a great adventure for sure! Have subscribed for sure!
Thanks for the sub! Enjoy 🙂
I just got the Mini 2 SE. One thing you didn't show is that goggle icon. Can I fly my Mini 2 SE using my phone inserted into a set of VR goggles? Will the Litchi app split the viewing screen? If so that'd be great and would make me a buyer.
Ty GAVINHR for once again doing a great srervice to the drone community once again you explained everything well and precise. Its good to know that we we now have a option to using a 3rd party app such as litchi and it works. Which brings me to the next thing savings in money. The litchi app just gave us the features that dji should allrdy have and just for the price of the app big savings now i dont have to buy another drone with these features. So now i can do pretty much do almost everything the mini 3 pro can do of course we all know the camera on the 3 is better still for the money the mini and mini 2 with the features of litchi gives us some more power to get those great shots without having to buy thext great drone. As for me and my mini 2 we will have a nice long relationship litchi app. P.S. im having so much fun with lil guy and the app just bring to a whole new level ty again GAVINHR.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the feedback, indeed the mini 2 with litchi is still a VERY powerful tool!
Thanks for that. When using Litchi can you change alt and pan the drone like you can with the fly App?
Hi could you do a video on waypoint setting please
as I now have litchi where is the option to save photos to phone
Thank you for your video in the past all been a great help for the mini 2 very much appreciated
Thank you very much for another great video! Just downloaded the Litchi app for my mini 1 and iPhone 11 and had a couple of questions. If you are using a created mission in waypoints what happens if you move the sticks? Are they just disconnected? Also, to regain manual control during the flight do you have to go back to FPV? Thanx Robert
I just started using Litchi on my Mini II and it works great. I experimented with Way Points and it was easy to setup a flight plan. I believe that once it is flying the sticks don't do anything...to go back to reglar FPV you push selector on the RC controller to sport mode and back to what ever mode you want and it will than be in FPV mode. It will go through the various Way Points and when it gets to the last one will hover in place at that elevation you choose for the Way Point so I use the method above to go to landing mode with left stick all the way down. I am not sure if you can also program it to auto land...still learning. But thus far it does a perfect job on Way Points and that was why I went with Litchi. By the way I am running it in the Android version on my Samsung S20 phone and also a Samsung Galaxy tab S7+.
@@RobertKarlBerta Thanx so much for getting back to me so promptly I really appreciate it as do I appreciate all the great videos you make. my best robert
I'd love to see a video of the waypoints feature, curious to see if once a mission is launched and en route, if it looses connection if it will complete the mission or return to home?! Love your content 👍
I don't know about the newer version of Litchi, but I used it several times for Waypoint missions with my Phantom 4 back in 2016 and 2017 and never once had an issue. The drone would complete the mission even after losing connection with the controller, which happened only occasionally on longer missions. I used Litchi with an Ipad back then, I don't think it makes a difference if using IOS or Android.
It returns to home. That might sound bad, but it's really just a reason to get the Mini 2 or similar for extended range. We are not even supposed to fly out of sight. If your Mini 2 loses connection, you are far out of sight. That only restricts activity that is way beyond the law.
It returns home with mavic mini 1,2 ari 2 s ...
Does Litchi unlock Geo zones or have any restrictions of that sort?
Is there any way to zoom the camera in Litchi? I’m new to it, thus the reason I watched your video and gave it a thumbs up! Very good and informative!
Sorry quick question, but has litchi updated? My menus look nothing like as shown here, and I don’t seem to have a compass shown in FPV mode, but maybe because I’ve only tried it inside my home.
In the apple App store under the Litchi app it says it is not yet supported for the Mini 2. It says that they will add support for it as soon as DJI adds support for it in the DJI SDK. Guess I'll have to wait. Looks like a very good app from your video!
Yes that information they have not updated yet, as per the release of this SDK they now support it in beta mode with the full one coming in the next few days so keep your eyes peeled!
Brilliant video 😎
Activtrak always fails after a few seconds on my mini 2
Litchi should add access to photos and videos
I used to have a Phamtom 3 pro years ago, now I’m having a Mavic Mini 2, i remember was recommended not to have both app DJI and Litchi in the same device. Can we do that now?
Man, that interface is sooo much cleaner than DJI's. DJI's developers have been distracted with fancy sliding/spinning settings and moving them to all different areas of the screen.
Just like the DJI go 4 app which a lot of people prefer! thanks Steve for your comment I have really enjoyed using Litchi and a very worthy option to the Fly app
How do you configure your Fn button in Litchi and do the other controller buttons still function as they would in the DJI app?
I have had my Mavic 2 zoom for over 3 years now. I have been using the DJI Go 4 app. My question with the Litchi app does it save the flight on the tablet and the drone as the Go 4 app?
Does it report flight data to DJI or anyone else as does DJI does?
Where can I find more about the Litchi app and what it can and cannot do.
How much is the Litchi app cost? Which is the latest version of the software?
Hi Great Video, have ever tried the rainbow app for the DJI Mini 2
Greetings once again! Great vid and info !
I am a beginner new to drones. I picked up the Mini and attempted to get its first flight out, but the app downloaded from DGI resulted in a "black screen" and I could not update firmware. I have a Samsung S21. In another video you made regarding start-up issues, I went to your site and downloaded a better app which helped me make its first flight last night.
Now I just saw this vid this AM and didn't realize that there's a 3rd party app that can release added features generally not available to the Mini SE users. Perhaps I'm still new to all this, but this is how we learn, no?
So, I'm considering getting the Litchi app to further push my SE drone and hope to utilize these "hidden" features.
Thanks again! I enjoy your vids.
BTW, if you or any other subs are reading this and can either attest OR warn me of any Litchi issues, please share! 🙏
What is dgi lol
What about coverage from DJI Care Refresh if an accident (crash or Flyaway) happened while using Litchi to fly my DJI mini 2 ?
If you would've slowed down a bit i wouldn't have had to repeat over and over to abdorb it al... which was very thorough indeed.
Thank you 😊
Nice one mate, I'm putting something similar together, any idea what the keys are about
No issue at all with litchi as long as you have the brains for it mate 👍
Hi, Nice video, my question : What happens, if I set Dynamic homepoint , I drive the car or bike the drone is followingme and the drone losts it´s signal ? Where will it return to home ? ( If I´m still driving car or bike and I move meters or hundred meters away from place, where was the signal lost until I notice it, or where I can safely stop. )
If you fly a mission and ot flys outside the safe fly circle/zone. It will it carry on or stop as it hits the red circle?
Hey mate, thank you for all that effort you put in here, just a question please ,i have an iphone and i got the Litchi app but no connection to the aircrft ,please help.Your Aussie fan Dimi.Thank you .
Hi there, so far the iOS version only supports the Mavic mini / Mavic air 2 with support for the others that share the fly app due around the end of March
Would have been good to have a clear breakdown of benefits of Litchi vs Dji Fly
This video made me question the point of this apps existence. The comments are far more informative lol.
Go watch all the other videos where I cover them in a series of videos. Or make your own
Does the Litchi app allow you to turn off or at least turn down the constant controller beeping if you use the RTH function! I would buy it just for that!
Hey buddy. Just got litchi. This the best video to learn from? Meaning have any features changed with this latest version of the app. Mini 2. Thanks man!
Hi David! No most of the features are pretty much the same as this video so yes it should give you a great idea what to expect! Bargain wasn’t it!
@@GAVINHR sure was 11.99 us dollars. I had 2. Thanks buddy gonna watch ur video now. Appreciate u making this video
Great video. In terms of installing Lichi and connecting to the Mini 2 - is it literally just a matter of downloading?
That is correct Eric!
@@GAVINHR Thanks much appreciated. Do you need to use the website to amend it to the Beta version? Or will the version downloaded from IoS or the App store work straigh off the bat? On Android it seems to state that Beta testing is full, although not on iOs as far as I can tell.....thanks in advance for any advice!
Hi there, yes both of them are out of beta now and the full versions are on the appropriate app / play store 🙂
I may have missed it, can you set the RTH battery percentage? I seen it's at 15%. Can you set it to whatever you feel safe at? 15% is dangerous.
Using Litchi with mini Se and Iphone. Finding status bar is upside down, unlike DJi app. Orientation setting on Iphone us unlocked. Any ideas? Due to lenght of Controller cable, it can only connect to Iphone on controller’s left side.
Hi Gavin , just bought the litchi app iOS for my iPhone 8 Plus . DJI fly app works fine but on the litchi app in follow mode it just flys off straight away away after I’ve pressed GO ?
Do you know if my phone is compatible or any reason for this ?
Thx Michael
Thanks for an informative piece. Litchi's home page states "Litchi is *not* yet compatible with: Mini 2, Mini SE, Air 2S, Mavic 3. We will add support for these drones as soon as DJI adds support for them in the DJI SDK." Is the Beta app available for general users and how do you get it? Thanks. (Mini 2 user on IOS)🤔
Hi Stephen, yes the website is not updated as the app is still in beta stage at the moment in time - sadly the beta whist it is available for anybody it is not yet available for iOS, I will be putting out a video on that today - DJI will release the iOS SDK at the end of march
@@GAVINHR Thanks Gavin will keep my eyes open for that update.
I think this is amazing can't wait to be able to learn how to use it. My question is and it's probably a stupid one but why didn't Dji just do this themselves🤷♂️ Awesome video thank's for all the info once again you nailed it👍👍👍👍
Dji didn't do it so you are more likely to buy a different more expensive drone that have these features lol, buy a new drone when it releases, wait a year and knacker up the reng/signal with firmware updates, release the api/sdk fir that drone a year later and then release the next drone lol..
That seems to be the process with the dji mini 2
@@evelbsstudio 🤣😂🤣😂
To be honest Jack, the previous answer is funny but it's absolutely true, if DJI added all these features there would be little reason for you to buy the next model which does have them! The only interesting thing is DJI are going to have to put most of these things on the mini 3 because the autel nano + is already killing it right now 👌
If it is about profits and getting you to buy the new model, why do they release the SDK for?.
Because 3rd party companies pay them for them :)
Fantastic video buddy thanks. Does the litchi app still record flight logs ? 😊 👍
Yes it sure does plus you can connect to airdata UAV and sync them there also!
@@GAVINHR brilliant. Thanks for the reply buddy 👍
Nice 1 Gav I've seen few vids about Litchie but still little apprehensive about using follow me jn the app with my Mini 2. Not sure if I'll download and have a go?
If you are careful and aware of your surroundings and diligent it works absolutely perfectly
Im going to think about getting this Gavin ,sounds good so far but does it have exactly the same function like for example the yaw, pitch speed smoothness for cinematic mode , im assuming that with this app it would bypass the no fly zone right ,that be good just getting Lichi.
The no fy zone software is in the drone. so no luck here.
@@12vibaba oh ok
Hi Rick thanks for watching, those are missing however whatever you set them at in the DJI fly app are stored on the drone itself so anything you have set already will be the same if you used litchi.
As for the second question B.bakker is correct the no fly zones are based on the drones GPS location and it's stored on the drone so this does not get round this sadly.
@@GAVINHR Good to no THX
So I have a Google pixel 6, which if Im understanding properly is incompatible with the dji fly app. If I were to purchase a dji mini se, would this app function with my phone?
Nice video. Like 👍& Subscribed.
