    You could fit a chest freezer in there, have room for a moose or a couple of elk and make ice in camp instead of dealing with big heavy ice chests. Or you could load up your offset pipe smoker and cook for a crowd at camp if you have some help loading and offloading it! Kinda cozy in that bed up front, but I do love my wife! I like it!

    Probably the biggest oversight I’ve noted on there is no 12v outlet. We dry camp a lot in my side of the country, and being able to plug in a small true sine inverter to run the TV is nice. Fortunately, easy to add.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 4 lety +1

      As you mentioned it's easy to add. The lack of 12v outlets is a simple reflection of the basic trim package found on this "SE" series. Freedom Express has 3 Trim levels
      "SE" -> Simple, smart, and streamlined
      "Ultralite" -> main market ultralite
      "Liberty Edition" -> Adds fancy stuff (also known as Maple Leaf Edition for canadian clients)
      Not all models are available in all trim levels.

    • @JeffinTD
      @JeffinTD Před 4 lety

      Yeah. Not as easy to add wiring with the bonded foam construction but the power wires to the awning motor are accessible by pulling the 110 outlet. They are heavy enough gauge and fused at 15a, so they can support reasonable loads on a 12v socket.
      Simple enough to wire another one by the head of the sofa/bed, as the furnace grille was and power distribution panel provide good access.
      Also wish they would have gone with low profile ac. Parkability in a shop, carport, or whatever I think is a big draw for this type.

    No pricing on your website. I like this unit, perfect for adding a sewing studio. Can some kind of legs be added to the rear door to make it level/patio like?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 5 lety +2

      Just arrived -- boss hasn't added it to the pricing file. I update our site by-the-hour. I'll have it published as soon as it's available.
      *REGARDING PATIO:* I had intended to discuss that in the video and obviously got distracted by all the other features of the RV. This little series cannot have a industry-common patio added from the factory or after market. The door is not structured for it and no supplier builds a ramp patio that size.
      Theoretically you could put some pedestals below the ramp, but will lack the patio gate system.

    Oh, I’m glad it has a double axel. I just watched someone else’s video on the wolf pup toyhauler, but it only had one axle & I wondered about carrying the weight of toy so far back from axel.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 4 lety

      The Short wheel base on that Pup means you're always pretty much loading everything above the axle. Not everybody is loading an ATV either. Plenty of kayakers and eBikers out there.

    The sink update in this year is nice. I’ll be curious to see if a future year finally gets a flush-mounted stove as well. I’d also prefer some more closed cabinet storage instead of just that long net over the sofa. Will definitely join the common chorus wishing that small THs like this and the Geo Pros still offered the option of a ramp patio system - manufacturers need to figure out how to make that happen. I prefer a forward position for the entry door that some others have (so you can get to the bed without crawling over whatever’s in the garage), but the dual axles are nice on this one.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 4 lety +3

      You can contact pretty much any Coachmen dealer's parts department to make the request. You'll need a VIN of an RV that has the exact part you want. When I make these videos we'll sell multiple copies of an RV, so I cannot guarantee this VIN will work but 5ZT2FEFB1LW011411 SHOULD get you what you're seeking unless I'm mistaken. @@JoshtheRVNerd There is a magnetic one but I liked the pull down style better, minor thing. Really trying to navigate the offerings in small toy hauler RVs and appreciate your detailed videos and information. The KZ 180TH, the Coachman17BLSE, Octane 161, Geo Pro 19.1 are all the sort of things I've looked at. Right now I think its the KZ 180 vs the Coachman 17BLSE. The Octane lacks storage, the KZ seems a little more basic bit one axle and two tires from a maintenance and care POV seems a little easier. Conversely the Coachman with tow nicer. Tow vehicle is a F150 3.5EB so no issues with either. No idea how the two companies compare from a quality perspective and the overall ease of use and ownership. Thoughts?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 4 lety +2

      @@thegan9143 Understand we represent most, but not all of those brands. We're inherently in a bias position. I tend not to offer comparisons for brands we don't carry as they can only feel negative and I don't like that type of salesmanship.
      I will say we've gone FAR out of our way to showcase the high points of the brands we carry. if someone else cannot do the same for a product they represent, then either the product lacks those redeeming qualities or the staff shouldn't earn your business.
      Each product represents a different market point. Sometimes a brand is lighter weight or less money. I encourage you to ask "Why?" to those things and often you'll discover which RV is the best for you.

    • @thegan9143
      @thegan9143 Před 4 lety +1

      @@JoshtheRVNerd That's a very fair answer and on reflection I should have asked my question differently and focused more on the practicality and benefits of one over the other. The Coachman for example offers storage, the Octane doesn't have much. The front bed models means I can keep toys inside and secure at night if I wish and the floor layout of say the grey pup limits the cargo area where I'd want to put 2 or 3 motorbikes. - Unrelated question but should you ever haul a trailer with full water tanks?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 4 lety +1

      @@thegan9143 We don't recommend hauling with full tanks. A small amount of water for service during a quick stop shouldn't pose an issue however. Try to fill up near your destination so you're doing as little towing with full tank(s) as possible.

      Generally you cannot. There needs to be something in the wall for screwed a bite into. As a laminated won’t like this if a manufacturer did not account for something being on the wall, then there’s nothing but Styrofoam basically in the walls for a screw which won’t hold well
