As much as I like these designs, even with all the money MLP pumps out with their toys, it’d be torture to try and animate the mane 6 with all of these details.
actually I'd like to bring up the gems that they animate in the actual show. theres lots of gems. also theres lots of details on the clothes rarity makes and the forest and theres lots of details in the cutie marks. but I would understand them not changing the style of art and or the character design so they could be more reconisable to the long time G5 fans (I think the current show is G5.)
in fact, they use puppets on their animation program so that they only need to animate and color a movement once per character for the whole series ! They could totally make ponies as detailed ! But yeah, the toys would be pretty underwhelming to buy :')

You mean the green in her mane? You could have just omitted that. I’ve seen rainbow drawings that lack purple, and one that lacked yellow of all colors.
Kay Nickie ikr? I would probably get flutter shy and rainbow dash wrong though. But even rainbow dash’s thighs are thicker than flutter shy’s and rainbow dash has a more confident posture, flutter shy doesn’t. That’s a good test to do to see how similar (your) characters are/look
As someone who doesn't even watch the show, I can appreciate the detail and character that is emulated in these re designs. They have unique silhouettes and color palettes from each other. I hope you continue to make great art.
Although Im not a fan of certain of those designs because I dig the original ones, they came out AMAZING on their own. Rarity, Pinkie and AJ were my favs. Keep up the amazing work ^^
But I think aj looks like a stallion. Not the fact that she's a Clydesdale, but she has a larger muzzle, and I honestly like the original colors because it's brighter, and it IS a kids show.

i like most of these but the rainbow dash coloration would work if the pony DIDN'T use the word rainbow in the name pinkie pie's coloration doesn't really mesh well with her personality, the colors do look nice but, i'd put more saturation in them
I personally like this take on Pinkie. I mean, considering her family, and how bright she is compared to them already, the more pastel like take on her is interesting. I do see what you're saying though.
TriggerHappyHoopa What are you talking about? Pink, yellow and baby blue are colors of joy. In the show she has all those colors, her eyes and cutie mark are blue and she also has yellow in her cutie mark.
The reason why the Mane 6 look that way is so they look animator friendly. These designs would be good for comics and etc, but no a fully animated TV series.
I have several issues with these designs, as good as they are. 1. rainbow dash isn’t rainbow, which is like, her whole thing. 2. This is debatable, but twilight doesn’t have wings 3. This would be a nightmare to animate.
I agree with the thing about Rainbow Dash, I like the pallette of the redesign but I feel as if it's missing the key aspect that makes her Rainbow Dash. However, there are some people who preferred when Twilight wasn't an alicorn. This artist may be one of those people, so it really shouldn't matter. And yes, it would be harder to animate for sure, but these are simply redesigns in the artist's personal taste. I'm kind of tired of seeing that argument in this comment section because it has no relevance to what the artist made here.

Sapphire ! Yesss, the rainbow about rainbow dash, like you said, rainbow is her whole thing, she’s famous for being a fast flyer but she’s also famous for her sonic rainboom. And I feel like they maybe should’ve put the wings on twilight, like this is a redesign, not change the whole character up how you’d like (well, that’s kinda what a redesign /is/ but it’s like how flutter shy and rainbow dash have wings- twilight should have them too). On another comment thread, the youtuber said they didn’t add green because they did like it
As far as design and art itself go, I really love these. However, I don't like them as redesigns, they just feel so off their originals. Don't get me wrong, the personality and style is amazing here and the originals are kinds carbon copies, but you got rid of some of the most important identifiers. All in all, impressive work on your end (better than I could have done) but it feels more like a different gen of ponies rather than our mane 6.
They look like figurines are illustration designs that they would use in the show to kind of exaggerate a little bit on what they actually look like but how they do in the book or the murals on the window which I think is really cool
