4:13 The reason Princess Celestia has her canon mane colors being Green, Pink, Purple, and Blue is because those are the colors of the Aurora Borealis, which is actually caused by radiation from the small explosions happening on the surface of the sun hitting Earth's atmosphere- when I realized that's what it was, I thought it was quite interesting, so I figured I would share that here!

with Celestia not looking like she's a creature of daylight, She's not. well not anymore, She became a creature of the Dawn and Dusk- the times between day and night.
she lowered and raised the moon for 1000 years, that would have effected her in some way.

I think that Celestia’s mane is coloured like that to show all of the times of day. I feel this gets overlooked often.
9:22 As much as it can be a redcon (and tbh it probably is), I think it could also be that Starlight swtiched the "Nightmare Night corruption" at the same time as the cutie marks somehow and that's why we got Daybreaker in Celestia's dream, headcanon thing idk 🤷♀️

I also Love Luna's design. Comic's aren't canon to the show, but in their canon she still has her pilot hair, until she has her character grow moment, and she transform into her new look.

Now that I look closer, for Celestia's cutie mark, it looks like they just stole the sun from Rapunzel's castle in Tangled and plastered it onto her flank. Like, I swear, its the exact same thing just yellow and orange instead of gold. xD
In the comics theres an arc where explains why her hair change when she felt confident and recover her entire power

so if ppl would say "this would be impossible to animate" lets think abt the fact of moden techonology and how u can add pre existing animations to animations and how u can RIG a 2d model :3
That’s why redesigns are so fun. You can make designs that couldn’t normally be animated
So idea what if the princesses are no longer connected to the elements because Celestia banished Luna to the moon? After all, Luna became nightmare moon so her being able to use them during that time is pretty much off limits because she was a “villain” and on the moon. Plus celestia didn’t represent a lot of the elements by banishing her to the moon. So maybe part of the reason celestia had twilight connect to the elements was so she could watch over them.
I really like the thought/headcannon that Luna speaks like that because that’s how they spoke 1000 years ago and she had no idea they started speaking differently. It sure explains why she talked like that for a few episodes, but then got used to talking in the new “normal” way.

the cyan reminds me of nightmare sans,,, (who, incidentally, i probably only love so much because of luna herself. luna's the reason i adore designs of nightmare after the corruption is removed and he is permanently stained and scarred from his time with it, just like luna and nightmare moon)

Princess Luna and princess Celestia look so cool crossing each other's ways. They're so cool when they're going. The opposite way from each other, yeah, oh yeah.
I'm absolutely loving the designs you did for them!! Especially Celestia's, I love the warm sunset colors you did for her, and I love the cyan touches you did to Luna too! though, theres only one thing I'd like to say, I like Luna's hair but I feel like it should have been a bit more lighter, to keep the hair from blending too much into the furcoat color, but honestly, other than that, I love your designs! They're absolutely stunning!
I would love to see you redesign Cadance and Flurry Heart! and possibly Twilight's official final form too.. I don't know, the whole recolor Celestia but it's Twilight- just doesn't do it for me, I wish they had made Twilight's final form more like Cadance's.
I love the tail idea, makes Alicorns a little different from unicorns!
I love this Celestia design more than the original one tbh, but I do have to say I think Celestia's look does represent light. I agree that her design doesn't represent the sun, but her design does represent rainbows and light. The sun is actually white first off, and the sun is like a mirror so it reflects light into colors. But tbh, why did they give her the name Celestia 😭 I feel like the name Dawn, Sol, or Aurora would have fit her better than Celestia.
Personally for me, I have two ideas for Celestia.
1: Her coat is the color of white(but more of an off-white, not a snowy white) and her main and tails is in a gradient of red, fire orange, and yellow at the ends. Her cutie mark would still be the sun. And I also think she would wear more gold jewelry too, Im surprised she never had any gold accessories on her. Her eyes would also be a pretty golden color too. And instead of her name being Celestia it would be Sol(Sol is a gender-neutral name and I think it fits this version of Celestia)
2: Shes based off an Aurora boralis and a rainbow. So her coat is a beautiful iridescent, gradient of a pastel rainbow(Pastel red, pastel orange, pastel yellow, pastel green, pastel blue, pastel purple, and pastel pink). I would like to think her mane and tail is white but in the sunlight you can see just the smallest amount of shifting colors in her mane and tail(sky blues, pastel green, light violet, and pastel pink). Her cutie mark is also a pastel rainbow surrounded by two clouds(one on the top and one on the bottom). Her eyes are also a bright pinkish-purple. And her adornments and accessories are all made out of opals or clear quartz. Her name will also be Aurora instead of Celestia. I also think both versions of Celestia would have that Clydesdale fluffy fur on her hooves and wings, I just think her coat would be super fluffy.
You're Celestia I would honestly name her Dawn, she looks like the Dawn :)
I also have some ideas for Luna too.
1: This Luna still has her night sky coat, but I would make it into a pretty gradient where almost all of her coat is a dark blue(like the night sky) and the furs at the end of her hooves and at the end of her wings are a light gray-blue. Her mane and tail is also the color of a moon white and it has silver twinkles(or shimmers) in it. She also has strands of black mixed in her mane and tail too. She is also more adorned with moonstone accessories. She still wears a black crown, but I think it would be super cute for her to have moonstone accessories on her hooves and a lot of moonstone moon jewelry on her too. Her eye colors would still be her regular blue color though. Her cutie mark is also silver stars with clear almost looking clouds around the stars.
2: This Luna looks more like the moon. Her coat is also a moon white and at the end of her fur above the hooves it has a tint of silver. Her mane and tail is a iridescent, ice blue(thats very light in color) and it has a twist of silver with white sparkles. Her eyes are also a much lighter silver-blue. Her cutie mark is still the moon. Shes adorned with a lot of silver jewelry.

9:21 my in cannon explanation for this is that she got the mark from becoming Nightmare Moon. It’s not her cutie mark, therefore it didn’t disappear when she gave up her power. But it’s more than just a mark, in a way, apart of who she is and what she’s been through. This why it went with her cutie mark when starlight switched it. She didn’t just switch their cutie marks, but their powers and essentially what makes them them.
Of course the real reason was because you couldn’t plop Luna’s white moon onto Celestia’s white butt, but I like this theory better.
I love these so much- I so wanna see princess twilight and princess cadence in your design- Not forcing btw, I just love your art :D

i think that the black part is transferred as well when starlight swapped the cutiemarks, is bc the moon won't show on celestia's white body.
the creators actually didn’t want princess celestia to be queen celestia because queen was often associated with evil (queen chrysalis, the evil queen, ect) so they made her princess because it sounded nicer

If you use puppet style for 2d animation these designs would be animation friendly since you just have to switch out the facial expressions, hooves, and move things around. I do puppet animation myself and it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, which is also easy to do. It is also easy to animate these in blender as 3d objects and use 2d for the faces.
i’m not as good at puppet animation, but i totally see where you’re coming from! i don’t really know how to use flash (i thiiink that’s what mlp was animated in??? correct me if i’m wrong)

The colors of Celestia’s main looks a lot like how people imagine her mother(which I actually love the colors)
pretty sure the fandom's theory for a while was that Celestia had those mane colors because she used the Elements of Harmony and she originally had a light pink mane like Luna had a light blue mane

Luna, well I known her existence through out songs, but never episodes 😋 luna’s characteristic is like the mother of the night, where she puts you to bed slowly, and joins you with your dreams, and also warning you about ur future in the dreams is a way more powerful(personally) than celestia honestly ☹️

I have a reason why celestia and luna look the same in the backstory oh how nightmare moon was banished it’s because the potion makes pony’s look how they do in present day but they did actually look like how they did in lullaby for a princess.
9:15 is exactly what I thought about and instead of trying to search much into it I came up with a theory:
they say a cutiemark is what represents you and not your purpose
the princesses are obviously special and so their cutie marks represents the power they hold
when Luna gave up her power her original cutie mark showing what power she held disappeared
when Starlight shimmer took Luna's cutiemark it took with what the entirity of what Luna is
Starlight shimmer didn't switch just switch talents between the sisters, she entirely switched around what they were suppose to represent
(So basically both are correct and it totally makes sense because headcannon /j)
Although on another note the moon is straight up white so you wouldn't be able to even see it on Celestia without the ink spot but SHHH

I did dislike that in the narratives. Why not have them move into like a more political roles? Like Celestia could be a major, Luna could be over the police station or a judge. Cadence could be an ambassador or something... now you've got me thinking!

Honestly I'm still loyal to mama chrysalis, but I really agree that Luna is the best princess!
All this time- i thought that Lunas hair had just changed because she had reclaimed her status of Ruler of the night so her hair changed to match that of a ruler, Like how Celestias hair used to be pink but when she became ruler of the day her mane just changed to showcase her power over other ponies. Or more likely they earn their upgraded appearance by making a noble sacrifice for the greater good of Equestria.
Although now that im older, it doesnt make much sense. But it was my own headcanon as to explain why her mane changed, rather then accepting that Hasbro most likely changed it as so it would have more of an appeal when it came to toys and merchandise. Like how they made Princess Cadence solely for the purpose for appealing to children because of her pretty pink and purple design.
I just miss the days where nothing needed explaining, or purpose for a show doing or changing something. The days where things could just be enjoyed and not questioned and criticised.
Although if they weren’t, we wouldnt have these beautiful reimagined designs in this video. So atleast theres that❤

i dont remember where I saw it. But the reason why Celestia is a princess is not a queen is because in kids movies and tv shows queens are usually shown as evil where as princesses are the good ones. Think of Disney movies. Queen of hearts, The evil queen, etc. Also why Queen Chrysalis is a queen and not a princess

A lot of times I see Celestia in the show being a little puss puss basically when she's apparently a god incarnate and same with Luna even with Luna being stronger magic-wise than Celestia according to MLP lore.
Also TWILIGHT IS WAY TOO UNPREPARED MENTALLY FOR BEING A RULER. THAT'S WHY EVERYONE HATES HER AS A RULER FOR SOME REASON.
So personally I would add that she is a princess, yes, but Celestia is still the ruler of the planet and Twilight is only a ruler of Celestia basically with Celestia and Luna as heavy supporters or advisors.
And I'm using Transformers political styles in this because yes I'm still salty about that collab. The only good frames were Thundercracker defending his favorite detective show and Arcee throwing hands in the middle of a town not giving a shit as usual.
