Not being from the US we know and have a lot of the muscle cars like Mustangs, Camaros, hemis etc. But the Torino flys under the radar. But man I am a huge fan of this car.
Most Torino’s were built more as family car models so no surprise that you aren’t familiar with them.
Grand torino is underated
They fly under here in the US as well.
The Torino had several performance packages, there was the Torino Cobro, the Torino Cobra Jet, and the Torino Super Cobra Jet. Over the years Torino's were offered with 427, 428, and 429, and in 1970 you could get 429 hemi, most people don't know Ford had it's own hemi.
Your first name is my last name Greco 😂😂
Growing up in 70's I was 15 my friend was 17 his dad bought him a new 73 Mach 1 w351. A guy came up beside us in Torino GT w those glow side stripes. We w raced from 25 mph. That Torino lite up the tires fishtailing as we saw nothing but tail lights. We stopped he showed us his 428 Super Cobra Jet w after market internals. Looked A lot like this car. Great memories. But the story about riding to school in that same car with the same interior! What an awesome beautiful car w a great story.
Such a sick ride! The Torino never got the props it deserves in the American Muscle Car community.
Even with the propeller’s you mention the Torino would still be a 🐷 !!!
definitely vomit
That pig sure won it's share in Nascar. Would have won alot more if gm didn't whine. Oh we have to do something. You have to slow them Fords down, we can't keep up. gm cries and Nascar replies we will we will we're on your side. Facts
@@SeamusMcGillicuddy0 only ugly ass pig here is you.
@@groydstein7007 did you just see yourself in a mirror 😂
Ford's Candy Apple Red was always a beautiful shade. Love how he went with the stroker tall deck Windsor and I'm an FE fan.
Appreciate that very much! Seemed right for this car. Torque to weight and not really looking to over power this Family heirloom. Lol
@@bmremmel the 351W is finally getting out from the shadow cast by its Cleveland brother. a stroker can concievably be built with OEM parts (reground 400M crank, GT40P Explorer heads and Lightning EFI intake, etc) or one can go aftermarket with heads and intake. Or grab a Dart 363 block and knock themselves out. I grew up on big blocks and even I have to admit the benefits of a stroker small block.
And it's exactly what you said--folks love to brag how much power their engine made on a dyno, but that's with race gas and a perfect tune. Then they fit it into a car, and even if it loses some power, we see the results on plenty of videos here--they can't control all that power. They short-shift their way down a public street. all that money put into a dyno-queen engine and they use maybe half of it. That's their perogative, but eventually it makes more sense to make something beautiful and to power it with a "streetable" engine that doesn't require a $100 fill up before going out.
job well done, friend.
@@albertgaspar627 Spot on my friend, spot on!!
Im a mopar guy, but not gonna lie.. these Torinos done up right are sweet rides. A gorgeous'68 Fastback. Mondernized it but retained the original designs on everything right down to the dash gauges. Very pretty car.
Thanks, very much appreciated!
Always loved the Torino this hands down one of the nicest ones i have seen ,mixed old with a little new tech 👍👍
Great job, I think Walt Kowalski would approve. (Gran Torino 2008)
In my opinion this was the most stylish Ford body style ever produced. AND this one is a work of a art. One of a kind. Be proud.
Probably top 5 best Torino resto-mods on earth. Just top shelf stuff.
That’s a great compliment. Thank you!
@@bmremmel he’s right, and the history element is very cool
This is the Torino style I owned back in the early 70s. It had a 427 blueprint engine and dude would haul azzz. It's referred to as a cobra GT and was very similar in size and power as the 427 Nova. Mine was bronze metallic with black deck stripes. White high back bucket seats and I'll always remember the cool greenish dashboard lights at night. While Mopar and GM were turning out different muscle cars one after another, this Ford would stand up against any of them. I ran the heck out of it and eventually moved on to something else. Sure would be nice to drive it once again. Thanks for this video and thanks for the memories of this car I wish I still had. 👍
That clean engine bay is a thing of beauty along with the whole car.
Definitely a jewelry box!
Thank you!
@@bmremmel Thank you for sharing!👍🏻☝🏻
Ive seen this car in person, its immaculate. Such a nice guy, and such an amazing, unique build!
Thanks man, very much appreciated!
Wrong.
Dude, just going at low speeds, both people are bouncing around on those chairs.
@@Gma7788 nature of the Beast
Thank you for not overlaying that generic rock music over all of the amazing sounds coming out of that car! Awesome car!
Thanks!
Chevy guy here...best sounding Ford I've ever heard...ever...like, ever. Great ride, man.
HUGE compliment, thank you!
Gawd I love this car! Beastly big cam at idle and awesome going through the gears…wow! Brings back lots of great late 60’s memories for this old guy!
near perfection, dont know what one would do to improve on it without taking away the yesteryear feel he truly struck a balance
Beautiful build!! So extremely tactful, yet perfectly balanced resto mod, that is so easily streetable, and shows such class!!! Alot of thought and heart went into this sweet ride...well done sir, well done. Thank you for sharing this gem.
And Grandma would be happy about the airbags. 👍
Love this guys passion. Most people get on here and act like they really aren't too fired up about talking about their ride. Mostly because they paid someone to do it without any interaction with the builder. This guy?? He knows every square millimeter of this car. He loves muscle car stuff. LOVES IT. Just a beautiful and impressive build. Sounds great as well. So glad it's not an LS or Coyote powerplant. They don't beat the ground like they should.
Thanks! Best compliment ever. I'm glad the passion came through. It's been a labor of love as she's Family ;)
I can remember as an 11 year old seeing a 68 (Fastback) with a 427 side oiler chirp 'em in all 5 gears !
That sound immediately takes me back there :)
4 gears if it was original. And this big cube windsor small block will sound nothing like a big block FE 427.
@@kskip4242 Tru dat! There's nothing like the music from a well tuned big block Ford. However, my Dad had a 69 gt with a 351 and you can be assured that with the suspension and brake upgrades and the small block upfront this gorgeous Torino has to be a drivers car. Sean, you are so blessed. You have the best job ever.
@@kskip4242 why would he go with a Windsor when so much more horsepower and torque could e gotten from the Cleveland !
@@thomasblankinship98 because you can build a windsor a whole lot cheaper, they inherently have a better oiling system and there is tons of part for them to make big gigantic power and torque numbers. You're living in the past friend. But if that's what you like go for it. I never was a fan of the Cleveland.
@@kskip4242 I agree, I mean if you had unlimited funds and talent wouldn't you just go with an aftermarket aluminum block sohc punched to say 500 cubes with a blower. Talk about a fantasy. It's not always about who can throw the most money at a project. I for one can find no fault with this Torino.
Have said before I'm a Ford guy and this Torino is stellar. The story is really cool. Love the plate too. Love the old school look and overall feel of the car. That exhaust sounds great. And it's stick to boot. Looks like a great driver too. Be safe and stay well.
Thanks Brian (great name!), appreciate the kind feedback. Will do. Stay well too!
God bless your grandma....nothing beats the love of parents and grand parents
Had a buddy who passed away in 2018 with the GT version of this in factory burgundy 427/4 speed that had been sitting on jack stands for 20 years or so with the drivetrain out waiting to go back in when his number got called . was a real shame the sister took over his estate and declined the offer given to her for the car (which was fair given the work still needed to get it road worthy ) and then ended up auctioning it off in her home town selling for a 10th of what we offered. Some dude got it for $1100.00. Oh well thats how she goes.
Its amazing how he built this car. Its been with him his whole life which makes it even more special to him.
Exactly. Probably why you don’t see a lot of these. Unless you have an emotional attachment, most people wouldn’t put this much investment in. For me it’s a Family member and not just a car. You nailed it.
Granny would be proud...
@@bmremmel Nice job! Went to grade school in the 70s with a guy whose dad bought one new saw it every day.
Tried to buy it in the late 80s he wouldnt part with it cant blame him
I'm in love with this car. My grandfather who I never met bought a 1968 Torino GT fastback off the showroom floor. 302, automatic. It was I believe the Sea Foam Green color code. After he passed in 1977, my dad acquired it in '78 and wrecked it the following year in '79. It was fixed by someone and he continued driving it another 8 years. It's been parked since about 1988. We've talked for years ever since I was about 5 years old in the mid 90s about someday restoring it, and if I were ever to get around to it, I want it to be EVERYTHING this car is. The sound is amazing, it fits the car perfectly. The stance, the color, I wouldn't change a thing, and you have definitely inspired me with this creation. I wish I could see this car in person.
Thanks Rick, very much appreciated. What part of the Country are you in?
@Brian Remmel Northern/Central Cali
I never get tired of listening to a high powered V-8 like that make angry sounds. It sounds awesome!!!!
Never liked the body lines of this year Torino but I was wrong. This gentleman did everything first class. Beautiful car....
I've never seen a Torino look this good.
Thank you!!
It's amazing that the grandson still keep his grandmother car and its still in great condition.
Thank you
@@bmremmel Your welcome 👍.
As a tribute to her also. A man I could be friends with.
My wifes grandfather had one of these put away in a barn. One summer we visited and I got it running for him. Oh, the joy in his eyes when he came out to see that car in front of his house and road ready. He was so happy driving it around town again that I never got a chance to get behind the wheel. A year later one of the wifes cousins wrecked it. I helped fight the insurance company who were gonna just total it and pay less than $1000. He eventually got enough for the old wreck in a straight sale to pay for a new truck for himself. I miss that old man. He was good people.
The 68, and 69 Torino's, Fairlane's, Mercury Cyclones, and Montego's are forgotten. I like these cars. You don't see many. Great build.
There is nothing I'd change on this car. It's perfect 😍
Agreed. Beautiful build
Thank you!
I'm not a ford guy. But this thing is just a perfect oldschool muscle car. Great job man!
Best compliment to get. Ty!
This car is such a hit in so many ways..........I don't know where to start..... great job!
Thank you!
Beautiful car and a great back story. Home run on this one Shawn.
Best looking Torino I’ve ever seen!
Really appreciate that, thanks!
Sean I love this F. B. Torino the 68' and 69' Torinos are my Favs. Great video , FORD MUSCLE 💪
BRO…I’m a49 year old California born Chicago native , raised in Cali east LA/Thousand Oaks , yes random, growing up seeing these cars still gives me goose bumps
I’m a ford guy so I’m love with the Torino, keep up the good episodes. Stay safe.
🤙🏼😊🤙🏼
$1.00 ? You sir made the deal of the century!!! Bravo to you and Grandma.
Excellent build! You don't see Torinos everyday! Kudos to the owner!
Thanks!
Have two. 69 gt 351 car. And a 75 sport 460 full pull package
I’m 30. I’ve always loved older cars but as I get older myself, I start to see and appreciate the models that were not the “popular” ones more. These older, larger, Fords are growing on my favorite classic(historical now) is gotta be the ‘67 GTO with tach on hood. Followed by the ‘66 Chevelle and ‘66 Charger. I find these years had the right amount of round and sharp edges. With classy trim, gauges, and little ism’s that make them stand out.
One of my next cars. Been wanting one for a while. Had one years ago.
His grandma will be proud, great back story and a beautiful car 😎😎
Thank you. Soooooo bummed that she didn't live to see it redone. She was a total bad ass, trust me. She would have driven it.
WOW. looks and sounds beautiful. When he said the int. was original my jaw dropped. The wide body (tub) wraps this all up. WOW
Crazy on that interior. Even the small tear in the passenger seat that he did when he was a kid!
This could be one of the best examples of the Torino. Ford had some interesting styles. Their full size cars looked fast. The owner really did set this car up perfectly.
Thank you sir, greatly appreciate it!
I saw this car at the 2019 Newport car show. Absolutely fell in love with this car. My favorite out of the entire show.
Thank you, very kind!
Growing up my brother had I believe 68 with original 428 cobra .... Sky blue .... It was a beast
Back when Ford made really cool cars. Love the big cube windsor👍
Brings back memories of my 500 hp, 440 Gold Duster. Engine noise galore!
So this FORD makes YOU think of a PLYMOUTH??🙄
Yep
The passion is what makes this build so great. If you look at it it's not some sema car or pretty race car....it's a car that what needed changed, changed and everything else left as is.
Agreed. And I love that he drives it all the time
@@AutotopiaLA that's even more awesome. I have respect for the ones that do their own work and even more for those that use their machine. I could and have gone on rants but I love the positive from this. The guy is too cool and his ride reflects it.
Thank you very much!
Friggin love the Torino. And he let ya drive it! Cool dude.
Thanks ! Shawn’s a pro so felt comfortable. He was very gentle, borderline loving to my car. 😂
Always liked the shape of every Torino, that long fastback roofline is so nice ! I remember the turn signals in the scoop, too ....
Awesome change of pace with the Ford. Theres Chevy guys and Ford guys, i always tell ppl im just a car guy. This is a beautiful hotrod. Hope your feeling better these days bud!
Beautiful mod. I had a 69 Torino in high school. 390 high performance stock engine. Lady backed out of a driveway and hit me and totaled it. Loved that car.
What a color. The best red I have seen ever. I was thinking if only, and low and behold, Roadster Shop do a full chassis for the 68-69. Sub 20k. There is a God!
Yessir!
I’m a Chevy guy at heart! My first car was a 72’ Nova an my current car is a 70’ Nova….but seeing videos like this with this kind of history makes me wish I had held onto and restored my Dads 73’ Ranchero! I basically grew up in that truck/car!
I went with my dad in 68 to buy the Mercury version of this, the Cyclone. It had the 302 2V motor Highland Green but I still thought it was pretty cool. In over 50 years I’ve haven’t seen another like it . Really love this body style.
The dollar story is great. My grandfather sold me my moms old high school car for the same price. It was a 69 Mach 1
My God....that Torino is my dream
Love the Ford Racing 427 Crate Engines, Warranty and all.
WOW ALWAYS WANTED ONE OF THESE AND ITS BEAUTIFUL IN RED
Tremendous! Love how the guys are always looking over their shoulder for the cops!
I was never a "Ford guy", but this is genuine BAD-ASS! LOVE IT! GREAT BUILD!!!
Thanks Scott!
Ah the music of my youth......Grandpa had a Gran Torino he used to chase cows in the pasture. The good old days!
Damn, watching this makes me wanna get my '68 Fairlane out! Come on summer!!!!!! Bad ass Torino! I've always loved the '68-'69 Fairlane, Torino's!
I’m a Chevy guy through and through but man this car is totally awesome love the body lines the wheels bad ass motor love how it sounds
Thanks!!
19 seconds in and I just gotta pause this , and give it the thumbs up , cause I know I"m gonna love it
Love that! Ty!
Grandma knows best! She's smiling from heaven at your awesome accomplishment. Beautiful car!💖
Awesome ride! One of the finest I’ve seen on CZcams and the music the 427 makes! ❤️❤️❤️
Me too. Such a cool build with a great story
I like what he did with grandma's car!!! Neat story, and a very nice car!
This is one of the most beautiful car on this channel so far 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for the great compliment Chris!
This one looks like a national treasure!
One of the coolest compliments I’ve got on the car. Thank you!
Beautiful build the engine sounds amazing 👏🏾
awesome build, glad the full size cars are getting recognized, amazing original interior, hands down coolest grandma ever
Thanks! Seriously, she was a badass. Loved hot rods. Grew up on a farm and ran away with my Grandpa who was a traveling musician (who was 32) and she was 16. They were married for 54 years until she died.
You are so right man, everything about the car is so nice. The music it makes
Dude, this is a rolling work of art. Stunning body and paint, wicked powerplant, and then there's all the subtle modernities....the guages are the icing on the cake. Just. Wow!
One of my favorites. Not too much power and very manageable, it looks damn good, right color and set up.. Always Looking forward to your next video.....But Ill watch this one again. Reminds me of my 69 green w gold stripes 427 Torino...loved that car. later traded it for a 1970 buick GS Skylark 455.
My aunt had a Skylark. Not sure what year, but it was a very cool car. She used to take us on rides and smoke the tires. Lol
Thank you! Balance was absolutely the goal.
Slick build. Lotsa tech goodies.
Pretty BadAss. Now he can go chase the bad guys. 🤫
Lol!! I’m NOT a cop, seriously 😂
@@bmremmel Lol. All good, brother. Great car.
Luv how well thought out it is.
It shows.
The top end note on that exhaust is heavenly. Oh yes.
I had a 68 fastback. Always loved these cars. You have built one badass Torino.
He did such a great job with this
No disrespect to the Chevelle guys, but your takin the back seat to this monster.
I love that! And that is my goal every time I get in. 😉
Favorite car you've had on so far !
BAD A$$ 100%
Thank you for the compliment, very much appreciated!
"I really like your car man"... L😁VED that line!... Couldn't have said it better 👍💪
It’s the truth. I really like this one!
Original seats and door panels! 😱😱😱
Great job taking care of your beautiful car!
Nice car, classic looks and intelligent upgrades - the perfect combination, better than new or original!
Torino my favorite
GREAT CLEAN CAR . my best friend had one in HS i had a 70 . we had a great time together . this made a wonderful NASCAR CAR .. the red color is wonderful
In 1974 a guy had a '69 with a FE 427 in it for sale. I can't remember how much he wanted for it. The car was beautiful & it looked like it came from the factory!
What a BAD ASS RIDE MAN!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you!
Awesome car Brian, and I love the story regarding your Grandma! Very cool!!
Thank you!
That's one tight ride. Well done.
Beautiful job, I think your grandmother would be very proud
Another example of how I tell ppl I would do it if I had the funds,I love the style and character of old cars, and,I'd add just the necessary upgrades for performance and drivability.
This is very well done, Sexy beast 👍🏿
Btw,that interior is in awesome shape for all those years
Very much appreciated!
Beautiful car with a great color combination. Very tasteful upgrade!
This era of Torino is one of the best looking cars ever.
Man!What a beautiful sound!Go Ford!
Beautiful car, and it sounds so sick!🤤🤟🏻
Love those sounds at shift points !
One of my favorite parts of driving her!
Most Excellent Torino. My 68' Torino GT fastabck search starts now. Great story too. I have a great story that starts with a blue 68 GT that was totalled and then continues with 69 GT torino.
Thats a great family story ! The car is cool too ! Not grandma's type car now ! I think she would love it !!😍👍👍
One of the dopest yet!!!! Love torino's, so under appreciated
