- Welcome to Tool Review Tuesday! I would like to thank The Home Depot and DeWalt for sponsoring this video as part of the THDProSpective group.
Check out this amazing 60V circular saw by DeWalt, model #DCS577X1. This has a 9ah battery and a brushless motor, which delivers some awesome power. The shoe is made of durable, high-grade magnesium, so you know you'll get years of use from this tool. It's truly a work horse!
Question of the day: What's the next project you will use a circular saw for? I want to build a deck on my house this fall, so I'm sure this will really come in handy!

I was wondering when he was going to notice the blade on backwards. Maybe he just wanted to advertise for the Diablo Blade a bit. LOL
I was skepticle of a 20 volt circular saw. But I have several B&D 20 volt batteries and the drill Works great czcams.com/users/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . I saw the 4 stars and some glowing reviews so decided to purchase this saw. Well, leave your money in your pocket and run a cord because this little saw won't cut
The model you linked is a very old model DeWalt circular saw. I'm fairly certain that the design is brushed and almost 10 years old. It's not the same as the one in the video above, nor is it comparable to DeWalt's other newer brushless models.
Nice saw! My grandpa is a carpenter and he says DeWalt is one of the best brands for saws. Can't wait to see the tortoise habitat!
Thanks, the new habitat will probably be ready in 10 days or so.
WOW.... I'm glad he changed the blade around off camera. Safety first, no matter how it's done.
Thanks, I figure it's worth showing my mistakes when testing out a new saw. I can definitively say I'll always check the direction whenever putting a blade on again.
I just in love with dewalt power tools for power and durability confort also perfection
They're the most comfortable for me as well. I have another DeWalt review coming up in the next week or so. Please subscribe.
Can you show the video when you made your first cut with the blade backwards?
Haha, just imagine lots of smoke rolling off the cut... I'm used to putting the label facing out. Oops.
)))
😂 LOL I was just going to say the same thing
It’s a backwards ass left handed saw..
Que bueno que diste vuelta el disco por que si no el resultado de la prueba hubiera sido todo lo contrario, saludos desde Uruguay, Pablo
Thanks mark for the video
You bet, thanks!
Will this work on a kreg Accu cut?
Great video
Am a framer and am used to worm drive saws, but this one far exceeds the weight that am willing to carry, and i cut joist and roof all the time done it for 17 years am 35 years old so am still strong enough to use that battery saw, but i whould probably only use it for 40 mins before i go put it back on the trailer, and am not agaist dewalt as a matter of fact i have 5) dewalt flextvolt 60 volt max saws those are way lighter, and the guys on the crew seem to love them, ofcourse if you need to rip anything you need a corded saw, battery saws used for the right application are life savers!
Thanks, that's good information to consider. I'm planning on testing to see how many 2x6's it will cut on a single charge.
@@MarkThomasBuilder my only complain is the weight of if, but if they bring it down to something managable , i think they got a great product!
I know the Makita 36 volt worm style is lighter then the skil worm and just as powerful. And cutting rafter tails or joist, i charge all dayit weighs like 12 pounds with 2 batterys and no fucking cord to trip over.
@@benjytheframer2781 yeah its a real pig.....close to 15 pounds....buy the makita its a better saw
@@nodoubt46able no sorry
This and the 780 miter saw are my two favorite Dewalt tools that I own.
💯. The XPS light on that 780 miter saw is a great feature!
@@MarkThomasBuilder It really is. I don't know why all brands haven't started using something like this yet. Never needs adjustments, and it's always 100% accurate right down to the width of the blade. I wouldn't trade it for at other system out there.
I have one on my Milwaukee saw. It's a game changer.
I have this tool, I bought the Kreg Rip-Cut Circular saw guide to use with it but the Kreg does not fit the saw. Do you know of a guide that works with this particular saw?
I have a guide that I'm reviewing on my channel this week. Please subscribe and hit the bell icon to be notified when it's published.
Cut lvl like butter nice
Plenty of power!
My first time trying this saw was today, I went from a mag77 to this. I cut a rip cut from a 2x6 that was 30 inches quicker than you made all 3 regular cuts on that piece of lumber. Just goes to show you how powerful it is even in a handy mans video review lol. This guy brings that saw for a walk and the saw walks him. 🙇🏻♂️🤯😴
It's a great saw that I still use all the time. As a matter of fact, I was just using a few hours ago. I've always used my Dewalt sidewinder before this, so I was taking it slow as I got used to the blade on the other side.
Dewalt Products Are Sweet👍
I've been a DeWalt fan for a long time. It started with their 12" compound miter saw.
It is a great saw! Well made and fair price!
It's a beast of a saw!
Can you use the regular xr batteries?
Just got this awesome saw in the post yesterday, can’t wait to try it out….. planning to build a cabin at the farm soon… 🇵🇰❤️
I use this saw all the time. It's amazing to not drag a cord around.
Hey shahab did u try it out yet? I’m close to pulling the trigger on buying this saw but don’t know anyone with it to test it out so figure next best is asking random ppl online how they like it lol. One concern I have is it seems like the shoe on this saw is very narrow for the overall size of this saw. Is it difficult to keep the shoe flat on the material being cut to make sure cut is square? Looked like it was rocking when he did test cuts
Very good
It does an amazing job, especially for being cordless!
Would this be practical for commercial purposes like for someone who's a carpenter and works for 8-10 hours daily?
That's a great question. It's powerful enough to tackle construction projects, but it will get kinda heavy working a 10 hour day.
What I would do is buy a 20v dewalt circular saw and buy a flex bolt battery and boom you have well over a days work with 1 battery
Get the smaller 18v saw and use with flexvolt battery will last all day, alot lighter also
Can this use the smaller battery's like 5 ah or smaller?
You probably could use a smaller battery, but I don't you'll be happy with the lack of power. The 60v battery does an amazing job.
Can one use this left handed? Or would the angled handle be too awkward?
It could be done left handed for typical cuts if needed, but really not an option if you're doing bevel cuts.
Amazing review I'm looking to buy this saw
It's a great saw, I highly recommend it!
@@MarkThomasBuilder sweet have you used it with a 12 ah flexvolt batter
Just for your info the blade that Dewalt gives you is just as good if not better than the Diablo
I should make a comparison video to show how much each blade will cut on a single charge.
I was cringing when put the Diablo blade in opposite direction then decided to reverse before cutting
My other saws have the label facing out, so it just seemed natural to install it that way. This is my first circular saw with a left side blade. Lesson learned!👍😎
What project would you want to tackle with this 60v Saw?
markthomasbuilder Cut the bottom of a hardwood door.
markthomasbuilder Cut the bottom of a hardwood door.
markthomasbuilder Cut the bottom of a hardwood door.
Cutting downhill all day
Nice brother
Thanks man!
Ok but all cordless circular saws will cut 2 by 4s
like butter so what’s different?
The big Flexvolt battery and worm drive style. It's a great saw and cuts a lot of 2x4's on a single charge.
blade on backwards ? are you serious ??? lmao !
I've always used a righty/sidewinder circ saw up until the time of making this video. I normally put the blade on with the logo facing out. That's what distracted me from getting it put on correctly. I'll never do that again, lol.
Why not
it looks like he flipped it back around before the cuts at 6:45, he edits out his cuts and im betting its because they were as terrible as his final cut, so wavy. I am wondering if it is the orientation of the guide and blade having to look over your own arm all the way through a cut if you choose to use it two handed.
Dam left handed saw
Yeah i noticed it too, looks like it would be more comfortable with left hand on trigger, i just got the non worm drive 60v and love the bevel/guide and build quality, it feels great and had never yet bogged even slightly!
Why would you chang out the blade? It's a flex volt blade so it's a real good blade and I do believe it should be just as good as the other Diablo
Good question, they're both good blades in my opinion. I was sent the Diablo blade to demonstrate as well as the saw, so I made 1 video to show them both. I've often thought about making a video showing which one cuts the most treated 2x6's.
I was thinking the same thing
@@MarkThomasBuilder how about showing the same saw but seeing what the difference is in the blades? I bet that you won't be able to tell a difference!
Lol blade on backwards thanks for the great laughs
Am I the only one to ever make this mistake, lol? I've done in on a chainsaw a couple times in my life too.
@@MarkThomasBuilder definitely not the first to do it, I've had a couple rookie helpers do the same.
Ok so um something your video just taught me was that this is just a worm drive style saw and not an actual worm drive saw so does DeWalt make a worm drive n battery or just the corded one of not who do you recommend for worm drive
That's a good question. If you're looking for a battery powered worm drive saw, I believe Skilsaw is advertised as the first and only cordless one at the moment. I have a Milwaukee one that I haven't tested out yet. That review will be out in the next 1-2 weeks.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thank u for getting back to me how about this is that dewalt worth getting despite it not being a true worm drive what corded worm drive would you get if u cud
Blade backwards,,The best tool in the wrong hands
We’res the big foot ! Flex volt !!!
It's a beast of a saw! It's nice not having a cord to drag around.
We also need the 60 volt Bigfoot
Can this saw cut through 7gauge sheet metal?
I would think it would cut well using a Diablo Steel Demon Blade. The Flexvolt battery has lots of power
Where can I buy that? Seems like home depo didn't carry that anymore?
The link in my video description works, I just checked it. If I order to my house, I normally get it in 1 or 2 days.
see you switched the blade around any saw can make a crosscut how many rips can it make?
That will be tested in an upcoming video.
As a left handed person im used to both sides of saws. Ive been framing for decades. I wont comment on your mistake with the blade but you should be cutting with the stock on the wider part of the plate. Stand on the other side. You will get a more accurate cut. Cheers
Thanks for the advice, cheers!
I'm glad someone else noticed 😁
I have this saw and it works great but DeWalt is being really sneaky with how they name it. It is technically not a 'worm drive' but a direct drive, yet I feel they market it as "Worm Drive STYLE" to just charge more with a better FlexVolt battery.
Yes, it took me a bit to not call it a worm drive saw, but to clarify it a worm drive style. I use it all the time, it's a great saw.
Sold
It's a great saw. I just used it the other day.
Is this really comfortable for a right-handed person?
I'm fine with it. I've been using the Skateplate with it lately, so it works expecially well with the right hand and the left hand on the Skateplate handle. I recently made a video featuring it.
What was the song at the end of your video...?
Epidemic Rock- Royalty-free purchase from pond5 website.
Looking good man 👨 wrong hahahahah
Yeah, I messed up pretty good, but learned from it, lol
The same wrench you use to remove the blade you can you use to remove the diamond shape...thing that you just pop with the niddle nose plyers.
Good advice, thanks!
HA HA HA ALREADY TURNED THE DISC
Yep
You put the blade on backwards and you're a contractor?
Proper saw i love dewalt
Yes, its an amazing saw. I can't believe the power.
your blade is in backwards
Having the blade label on the inside never made sense to me. I have to tell myself to hide the label every time I swap a blade.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one that got tricked with the label needing to face in.
Does this saw have an LED? Most saws do these days and I like the blade being on the left...sweet 👍
I just checked and didn't see a light.
🔥💣👍
🙌
140 comments about a backwards blade. Not one about how many cuts for 1 charge, how long it takes to charge. Please let me know how its held up also.
It's holding up very well. I recently featured it in a video using the SkatePlate edge guide. DeWalt has a charger that will charge the battery in an hour. I haven't tried how many cuts I can get per charge. I may have to do that sometime in a comparison video. One thing I can say is that it lasts a very long time.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks
Like to see how good it can rip 🤔🤔
Good idea, I need to show this saw put through it's paces.
Do that saw have led lights?
No it doesn't. I'm reviewing a few other brands pretty soon. I'm curious if any of them have LED lights. For some reason, I doubt it.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I hear the DCS 578 (Blade Right) sidewinder has the LED light in it! Have you checked into that 578 newer model yet? Luv to compare the two to decide on which is best for me or others out there. Any good detailed videos out there on the 578 model?
You obviously realised your blade was backwards but you're cutting the wrong end of the wood. You'll get a much better cut if you put the wide side of the foot on the meat. You're cutting as though it was a right side blade.
Thanks for the advice. This video shows my first time using it and I've always used a right side circular saw up until this time. It took a little getting used to and I've now mastered the tips and tricks for a left side blade. It's a great saw, I must say!
Cutting from wrong side 😂👍👍
Yep, good observation.
rule #1 finger straight and off the trigger.

thanks for the video.
Thanks!
Lol wow bro it’s not a gun and it has a safety lol… and a guard
You forgot to tell us about how you put the blade on backwards.
Haha, yah, I didn't want to admit it, but figure if I mess it up, it will help someone double check the installation and remember to put the label in.
rapido me di cuenta que la hoja Diablo la abia puesto al revez de primero
Ah ha works better with the blade on backwards!! That's why your last saw only maid 4 cuts.
Haha, I never make that mistake again. I'm reviewing a couple new circ saws and you can believe I'll get it right. lol!
Nobody else noticed the Diablo blade on backwards??
Yeah, I put the label out and didn't look at the teeth, 🤷♂️. I never make this mistake anymore, lol.
At first I was like , I’m pretty sure the blade on wrong in the beginning
Yep, I haven't made that mistake again, lol. I'm just used to having the label facing out.
That blades gonna kick back on you hard core lol plus why they always make these left handed saw...
Haha, glad that didn't happen.
I can see the handling is like a regular worm drive but it looks like it's actually a side winder type motor configuration.
Yes, that's a good observation!
You are correct, It is a direct drive motor. Which isn't a bad thing as this outperforms all current saws at that size for power. corded or cordless, worm drive, hypoid or direct drive.
Instagram link needs to be updated
Thank you, I'll check on it.
@@MarkThomasBuilder no problem
We say hello from Colombia, my father wants to know if is possible to buy the support with which it holds the wood. Thanks
dude all your tool are new...lol what is your favorite golf club, just saying. Cheers
Haha, I haven't golfed in years but I like my Cleveland 52 degree wedge. My channel mostly features tools that are just released and the latest models. If you want to see worn out looking tools, I have a collection of pneumatic nailers that I've used on many job sites.
Blade on backwards too funny.
Yes, I felt reluctant to show my unobservant mistake. I hope it brings awareness to others upgrading to this left blade saw though.
10 kg weight?
I think it's closer to 7kg for the saw and 60v battery.
Tuff to bog down huh? I'll believe that when I see it cut treated 2x10-2x12's on max bevel.
I guess I'll have to try that and let you know how it works out.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Haha, I will be impressed!
I do Marie construction and I'm here to tell you that this saw will rip through a 2 by 12 like nothing pressure-treated Marine treated wood.
No more than a 15 amp corded. And really, how often you gonna do that? LOL
@@rubbersole79 I do it pretty often building decks.
as soon as i saw you holding the blade with the label out i knew you were gonna put it on backwards ahahahah you gotta think about it like shark teeth.. they always go towards your pray, not away from it.
Haha, the label on the Dewalt facing out made me think the Diablo blade was the same. I should know better than to do that.
Haha ...it was on backwards....it tickled me !
Yeah, pretty funny. I'm still waiting for someone else to admit that they've done that before.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I've done it with a chainsaw...it didn't cut very well !🤣😂👍
can i use the 20V battery on this?
Yes, but I recall trying it and it cutting some 2x4s. I just don't know how many it will cut in comparison.
blade is in backwards TEETH-UP 🤣
Thanks, I learned my lesson.
Dewalt cordless skill saw DCS577 doesn't have light an like competitors...
-big downside for me
I'm testing some other brand saws pretty soon. I'll keep myself aware of that benefit and see if I notice a need for it. Thanks!
Would I notice that he put the blade backwards
Put the blade on wrong
lol i wonder how you cut wood with blade backwards omg really dude
Haha, yeah pretty bad mistake.
This to me looks like a direct drive saw (sidewinder saw), not a worm drive saw. There is no way it is a worm drive saw with that placement of the battery and the motor being directly behind the blade.
Good observation. This is advertised as a "worm drive style" saw, because of the rear handle.
Is that Jeff bridges
+homero632 haha, I’ve actually heard that a few times.
Obviously the saw can cut a 2x4 I wanted to see it rip down 4 sheets of 5/8s plywood at once that’s the real test
That would be a great test. If I get a chance, I'll see what I can do.
You originally put the blade on backwards but switched to right position before your cuts but were to embarrassed to mention it! They are sending YOU free tools for your opinion? What a laugh
Woops, the blade is backwards lol😂
If there wasn't a label on the blade, I would've got it right the first time, ugh!
markthomasbuilder I know huh. It's not your fault. I was curious of that dewalt cordless skillsaw. I seen it at home depot. I think I might buy it. I hate long power cords. This is the new age of cordless saws
You put your blade on backwards 😂
Way to put the blade wrong way ! Proffessional I can tell hahaha
Blade is backwards lmao 🤣
I haven't made that mistake ever since making this video, lol!
He put the blade in backwards
The great thing is that I never made that mistake again after making this video.
your blade is backward
Yeah, it didn't take me long to find out, lol!
you need to make another video.... blade in correct position next time )
I agree. I'll do a 1 year update review.
ok buddy )
Omg he show how put the blade? Lol
I was used to putting the label out, I learned my lesson here, lol.
Well we know you must have changed the blade to the right direction but why is no one pointing out that you're cutting the wrong way around? You keep the 'foot' of the tool on the piece that remains so the cut piece falls away and not the saw!
Good point.
Jajajjaajjajaja blade on backwards....dont let him put nails...in a nailgun...lol.
Yeah, pretty hilarious. What's interesting is that I used to put a panel blade in backwards when cutting aluminum siding. Now there's a blade for that where I don't have to.

You place the blade wrong
I'm used to putting the label out. I learned to pay attention since then, lol.
From a carpenter with 30 yrs. experiences, this saw is a toy compared to good corded one. You'd be laughed at if you showed up with one to frame homes or do any production work.
Have you seen any corded ones you like?
@@MarkThomasBuilder Over the years, I have used the old 15 amp metal frame and Mag frame Skill's. I have also tried Milwaukee's and and Makita. Corded Mag Skill is my daily go-to saw. I would LOVE to buy a cordless but they just don't have the grunt or lightness of my corded.
