I noticed you seem like you might have some somewhat outdated information! I'm not sure if you know, but white spotting and dominant white are actually alleles on the same gene! I'm a new viewer so I'm not sure how much that would change for you, if you were to have to merge them together to fit, but I know many sites still have the more outdated split version so perhaps this would be new/useful for other folks!
Additionally, I'm not really sure where the 'dominant white cats only have amber or blue eyes' comes from, but it's demonstrably false! Granting that with moggies there's no way to tell whether they're dominant white or just 100% white spotting, Russian Blue cats also come in the form of Russian White, which has the same green eyes, and is most definitely dominant white rather than extreme piebald
Generally, asides from blue, eye colours are only connected to coat colour in the singular sense of 'the cat fancy likes to breed x coat colour to have y eye colour'

@@abrady0 A lot of stuff I get off messybeast, but I'm also in Sparrowminder's discord and people, whether Sparrow themselves or someone else, often tends to post new studies they find, so it's a pretty good place to get more up to date information!
The epistatic white/white spotting thing in particular I believe was a study published like early 2010s, but took a while to get updated on say Messybeast

The silver gene doesn't make a cat more golden, it eliminates any golden coloration agouti adds. So a black silver tabby would be grey with black stripes and a chocolate silver tabby would be whitish-brown (not cream) with brown stripes.
Golden cats also aren't orange. They are black tabbies with a trait that widens the bands of gold added by agouti. It's thought to be three sets of recessive alleles, but it's not widely understood.
It's totally possible for Lionheart to be golden or at least have a golden basecolor, but giving him the silver gene does the opposite of that and would make him more muted.
ahhh thank you!! i knew about the silver gene (or at least that it gave cat's white underhair like with my cat Sheldon) but the "golden" gene confused me a lot so i just assumed silver gene = whiter/shinier and gold is shinier so it evens out lol
@@LollingCatto I’m not sure about cat genetics at all, but I’m pretty sure silver is the diluted version of a black tabby.
@@atlaskanik a normal black tabby is typically brown with black stripes actually! There are some black tabbies out there that get a little weird though

Oh! As a further note on albino-
Albino is not a separate gene at all, making the AA a bit... Redundant too. It's on the same gene as colourpoint and sepia! Which makes it a bit...crowded between C (normal), cb (sepia), cs (colourpoint) and c (albino)
Though while on the topic of sepia, I do believe a cat like Spiderleg could be something like a seal sepia! Though rusting would be your best friend there (I've seen pictures of a black rusted cat that looked like a spot-on Spiderleg)

the blueish gray color im just classifying as gray so... yes? XD i've already mapped out Blue's family in my doc for this, and let's just say while Blue remains MOSTLY untouched, a lot of her family around her changes ;)
All things considered idk where thistleclaw ends up, as long as he keeps his white, whitestorm will be fine. but shellheart won’t be gray, but by these rules rainflower still will be so oakheart and crooked star should end up as gray cats thus leaving all of bluestars close kin accurate.

@@LollingCatto Rainflower no lineage so stays, shellheart has no dad to go off, but mom (willownose) parents (reedshine + apple dusk) had no lineage as both red tabbies, so would have to also be red tabby.

I feel bad for you when you do Appledusk's family line, as you'd have to do it for Graystripe's family (due to Appledusk being Crookedstar's grandfather), especially if you decide to include Mapleshade and her kits in it as well

yep! her genes are messed up in the video because i never fixed them on her picture, but in my document, she has Cc, getting the colorpoint from Jake who was carrying it and who got it from his father

I haven’t read all of the warrior cats books so it was a pleasant shock to see a cat named Livy (my nickname) with blue and and brown fur (I have blueish eyes and brown hair). Love that the author wrote me in as a cat

Fun fact: it doesn't matter if the parents dont have white on their pelt. So raven paw chould still have the white spots. Althought the other cats cant be fully white.
At best that would be very very much an edge case where one of the parents has the white spotting gene, but it's only expressed in a few white hairs or so. If we're not counting edge cases like cryptic torties, I don't see why edge cases like invisible white spotting would count.

My apologies! Someone else pointed out to me that that can be viewed as insensitive on my part. I was trying to reference the events in the book and poke fun of how the books handled a deaf character (that he died because he was deaf rather than because a hawk nabbed him, as it could any kit), but I'm still pretty nervous with recording myself so my tone/intention was off. I'll make sure to be less insensitive in the future
