- We've come up with a fast and easy way to magnetize your blade table when you need assistance, and demagnetize it when you don't.

Great little design. Been using it for a while and have no complaints. Thanks, Cody
Now that's pretty slick right there!!
Love that design. I tried using the magnet for a while and found it hard to clean the metal debris from the top of the table. Looks like you have solved this. 👍
Jeff, good point. I forgot to mention that it's helpful to lower the magnet when cleaning the machine.
Nice design! I will be removing my magnets now.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about.
Awesome
I'm glad to see continual upgrades/accessories for the Apex.
My issues is becoming the carrying case that's included with the Apex. As I add more bits and accessories to compliment my Apex, the fabric case is just not cutting it anymore. I would like to see an upgrade case option for the Apex. Otherwise I see you can purchase the Pro model case. Do you think this would work with the Apex sharpener?
Travis, the Pro case will not work for the Apex. The foam cut outs just would not match up. But you are making a very good point. I'll have to start looking in to alternative options for a carrying case.
@@EdgePro Awesome to hear! Thank you for your response.
Is there any chance there will be a Clamp-Type attachment to firmly hold a knife blade in place to keep it from moving? Sometimes I get a really nice polished edge on my kitchen knives but they aren't as sharp as they should be. Sometimes they aren't as sharp as I can get them consistently with an electric knife sharpener. I think it is that itty bit bit of knife movement that will change the angle that does it. I recently purchased the Edge Pro Apex 4.
707SonomaComa,
There are no immediate plans for a clamp adaptor for either of our sharpening systems. Some of the earliest Edge Pro Prototypes in the 1980's were clamp based, and during that time Ben discovered that while clamps work great on some knives, they present a lot of problems on others. I think the problem you're experiencing can be solved by resting on a different surface of the knife, or the problem could be that you are not fully apexing the edge. I'm happy to trouble shoot your problems via a telephone call, or set up a telephone conference with you and Ben if you prefer to speak to the inventor himself.. 541-387-2222 Thanks for watching.

I had this same question. I'm a novice, the whole reason I want a system is for flawless; controllable (by stone selection), edge. I know I'm a wiggler, and I see people in videos still wiggling with magnets. Can the scissor attachment be positioned in a way that I could clamp a knife in it?

well made video, did you teach yourself to make video or did you seek active help?
Layarion, I had to teach myself - and thank you for the constructive criticism on your other comment as well. I certainly have a lot to learn when it comes to making videos. But since I don't have time to make them nearly as frequently as I'd like it's taking me some time. If you find my most recent videos I finally got some good lighting and built myself a little studio which stepped the production quality up a few notches. I hope you'll check them out.
Best Regards,
Cody
Will it be the same for the professional model and the apex or different size.
Pete, this retractable magnet only fits the Apex model.
Any plans on one made for the professional down the road?
Pete,
Yes, I'll be rolling something out here in the near future. If you want to give me a call I can tell you about it. 541-387-2222 - Cody
I don't know about magnets I think if you guys come up with some kind of locking mechanism to lock the knife
Did Ben approve this Cody ? Lol jk, Roy from Texas
The product - yes, the thumbnail - no. lol.
Does it magnetize the blade?
Yes. Some may not like it, but a lot of the swarf will hang off the bottom edge of the blade, keeping the stones from loading up as fast
Brandon, yes it can leave the blade with a light magnetism.
Focus please...
Peter, I'm trying! =) I'm going to be using a different camera on the next video .. . . no matter how hard I try with this camera I just can't seem to get all the shots in focus. Sorry bout that.
I don't think you made a very good case for not having a magnet at the base.
