Doug Fryer is such an humble person and brilliant, innovative artist, he is one of the best painters out there. What he says here about learning to paint, being brave enough to fumble about so as to get an original idea down and discovering your own technique is absolutely true. Hours worked counts! This has been excellent. Very stimulating. I recently completed a painting and it was sold for a reasonable price in a reputable gallery that essentially promoted that style of work. I through caution to wind, wasn't worried about where it would go or who might buy it. This painting was organized according to what I was trying convey ( that idea in the back of your head that keeps haunting you). It was sold for a reasonably good price in a reputable gallery. I was a Jr.-Sr. High Art instructor and I have a Masters in painting. iI really enjoyed Douglas Fryer"s conversation.
Like the new visual aspect to the podcast! The other good thing about seeing a painting in real life is also the translucency of the layers or paint and how that affects the end result, something digital does not convey.
