    Nice channel, i've subscrived.
    How do you make money? Get food? Wash? Go to the toilet etc? Applogies if you've already covered this, this is the first of your videos ive stumbled upon. Cheers

    • @DeltaMikeTorrevieja
      @DeltaMikeTorrevieja  Před 24 dny +1

      I'm not legal in Spain so I can't work legally and I have enough legal trouble without bringing tax issues down on myself.
      For the longest time I walked around bins and found food, people leaving the country often bag food up and leave it next to bins or hanging from the sides of bins.
      Some people bring me bags of food when they are leaving the country.
      Sometimes people just bring me food. A lady just recently started doing so, and it turns out she has her own battles which I'm going to ask you guys to help her with shortly.
      Since I've been in CZcams (exactly 1 year a couple of days ago) people pushed me to get PayPal. I accept donations which I forward to one or two friends who convert them to cash for me.
      Water is an issue. My water source was turned off at the end of last summer. Again some of you guys have been kind enough to step in refilling water battles for me.
      Toilet is tricky and I haven't really discussed it. I live in a field and there are trees. I have a dog so have bags. Use your imagination for the rest. A damp cloth goes a long way.
      TrampCast 001 has most of my backstory covered.
      Thanks for stopping by.

      @DeltaMikeTorrevieja Thanks for answering my questions. What about electricity? How do you charge the device which I assume to be a phone that you record on? Do you live there out of choice or would you come back to the UK? What made you decide to go to Spain and not come back? If I was better financially myself, I would happily send some money via PayPal, but I'm not. Maybe one day!

      I started with a foldable solar panel which I owned before becoming homeless. That started to have issues and a couple of guys donated a small solar panel, charge controller and battery. That worked well last summer but in winter I was struggling to get enough power. They donated a second panel.
      Recently I upgraded to a large solar panel which powers an EcoFlow River 2 and an electric cooler.
      Moving to Spain initially was something of a gamble. My wife and I separated and I'd been to Torrevieja a few times in the 1990s. I had money in the bank and figured I'd have a few years of 'psuedo retirement' while I'm young enough and healthy enough to enjoy it.
      I know people my own age who, whilst still relatively young are not healthy enough to do so.n

    • @DeltaMikeTorrevieja
      @DeltaMikeTorrevieja  Před 27 dny

      I don't know if Spain has any kind of "adverse possession" legislation that would allow such a thing.
      I've stated previously that it is not my intention to lay claim to another person's land.
      Not sure how I would feel about laying claim to totally free land - if such a thing exists. Wouldn't it just default to the local authority and be 'public' in that case?
      I'm in a bind and just need a place to put up a tent. I'm trying not to annoy anyone, most of my 'neighbours' are friendly and even helpful towards me.
      I could just do with the authorities laying off for a while.

      I'll rely on 1 year ago my shelter was falling apart after being up since February when a local couple bought me a new tarp to replace one the went through in storms in mid February 2023.
      Beyond that I wouldn't need much more to go back to the two floods October 10th 2022 when I was ejected from local park and the night of November 10th/11th when the field again flooded. Perhaps a local witness/neighbour.
      At the moment they aren't pushing for proof though, thankfully.

      It is either:
      a) the left hand don't know what the right hand is doing, and each cop is going to 'discover' me independently; Or
      b) harassment!
      Each time, I tell them it's private land and the owner hasn't objected and after half an hour of hassle they go away unable to counter the argument other than "you shouldn't be here".
      Of course in the past if they demanded ID I'd hit a problem, but now I have paperwork from when they last arrested me. So I have ID.
      Still interesting that they were here about 1.5 hours after I uploaded my first video in weeks.

      Can you imagine an immigrant in the UK under such circumstances? If the guy has problems he can always contact the nearest British Consulate and/or get his papers in order. This is one of the unfortunate outcomes of Brexit. It's left a lot of people in similar situations. I'd be willing to help him myself, but I live in Madrid. The guy obviously needs help of some kind and there are lots of UK nationals living in the area......surely some of them could give him a hand.....

      @@panchopuskas1 You know that there are thousands of Central/Eastern Europeans in a similar situation in the Netherlands, and they are still in the EU! Many lost jobs during lockdowns. They are not eligible for any assistance. In the Netherlands an EU citizen of another country can only claim uitkering (benefits but not free housing) for 3 months after working a minimum of 6 months continuously. It's nothing to do with Brexit.

    Dude if you are on private property and have set up a shelter you need to clear your stay on the property with the land owners, it is not your right to take over someones land because you are homeless, police are trying to move you on, you need to get property permission, chances are the home land owner does not know you are there.

    • @DeltaMikeTorrevieja
      @DeltaMikeTorrevieja  Před 25 dny

      Nope. Not if it hasn't been fenced and posted as private property.
      Why do you think after 19 months I'm still here?
      I had five police on site just days ago ago, checked my papers, I told them private land, they weren't happy, but they left after 30 minutes of best effort to find something to arrest me on.
      It would be a private dispute between landowner and me, but minus a complaint / request to leave from the owner I'm good.
      But nice try.

  • @brendanoneil3489
    @brendanoneil3489 Před 28 dny +3

    Mike, you describe yourself as 'no fixed abode', then 'suddenly' 18 months later the authorities start leaning down on you hard, so you just insult their law enforcement and juduiary whilst entrenched in your legal position (which may be valid)
    Why not just move on somewhere within a couple of miles?
    For everything you lack, even basic shelter, toilet or running water - you have a freedom almost unknown to most of your viewers.
    I spent a large part of my formative years dodging eviction notices and even squatting. Some people perpetually NFA : some expats, boaters, van dwellers and even career pros do it for decades.
    Ideas about cooling your tent with some heat shielding improvements came for my background in fridge , heating engineering and solar energy . Not blagging you here.
    Many subscribers and supporters maybe were expecting some real-time epic battle with homelessness and some game plan in motion followed by some big changes, but instead just hours of fairly entertaining, but trivial, content and an apparent acceptance of your situation.
    You are picking the wrong battles here. Not what you wanted to hear, but got to be said.

    • @DeltaMikeTorrevieja
      @DeltaMikeTorrevieja  Před 28 dny +2

      Hey Brendan,
      I appreciate you sir.
      Here we go though. Why do you think that the same police car that comes here won't pass my site 'a couple of miles down the road'?
      Why do you think after all these visits I'm still here? Let me tell you. They CANNOT disprove my assertion that this is not public land and without a complaint from the owner they are powerless.
      Yes, demand ID, yes intimidate, yes take away plastic water bottles because 'fire risk'. But why am I still here?
      Riddle me that?
      If move I take pot luck, pick public land, or private land with an ACTIVE owner and move every second day.
      In many ways I'm sitting pretty. They hassle, as they would anywhere, but seems unable to press their point. Why move to somewhere where their point would penetrate my defence.
      I appreciate you my friend. I'm just not convinced by the veracity of your argument on this point. Plus, I've got about 300kg of shit to move, if I move.

    • @DeltaMikeTorrevieja
      @DeltaMikeTorrevieja  Před 28 dny +1

      Also, I appreciate your ideas on shading from sun etc. despite appearances my means are limited. Reflective screens aren't cheap, will take time and will probably increase awareness that I'm here.
      All suggestions are valuable, but equally have to be weighed against personal and practical factors you might not be aware of and which I might not choose to divulge in open Comms.

      Unfortunately not, no. It's complicated as to why not. I moved to Spain in 2016 about 4 months before the Brexit vote. Basically things you are supposed to do at the 3 month mark, I did a wait and see. The world seemed a bit topsy turvy, so I hesitated.
      Once I was behind with one process it became psychologically more difficult to initiate the next. Imagine trying to do something at the six month point that should have been done at the three months point.
      So once behind, I withdrew and just didn't do any paperwork.
