You are absolutely right about a reality check. thanks for sharing.
Thanks for showing the other side Barry,so much potential with those vacant buildings, enjoy your lunch!🙂
No potential with all that tax to grind any buisness into the ground
Yes, I was there in Torrevieja about 3 weeks ago. I had a walk around and to be honest, I felt depressed looking at those buildings.
Great video Barry.
You wouldn't believe how many people suggest I go do the squatting thing given my situation. But I just can't imagine breaking into property, causing damage or loss of value or utility to a property owner.
I'll stick with my tent on empty land, despite the Guardia Sizzle's recent behaviour.
Absolutely watched that, keeps safe fella.
Arrived back on Friday from a week in Torrevieja. I must admit does it look worse in the rain on your video. We had a week of sun. The graffiti is an issue in the town but there was very little in the way of litter and not as much dog poo as I was expecting. North and South of Torrevieja are places like La Mata and La Zenia which are much tidier.
Although a bit rough and graffiti I still feel safe walking the streets of Torrevieja
Always good to show these things Barry. I think the graffiti is pretty bad now in many parts of Torrevieja. I have raised it with the Council a few times and they just don’t seem to take the issues seriously enough. Torrevieja has always had some graffiti in the 22 years I have had a house there, but do think it has become worse. I was in Malaga recently and it is much the same there in parts and even on Historical buildings which is unbelievable.
Sadly it is a cultural thing that seems to be accepted and tolerated which is sad. It doesn’t help tourism and does not help the locals.
As far as squatters are concerned they seem to be everywhere now where there is an empty space, they fill it.
Always watch all your videos with a lot of interest. Keep up the good work
Great information love your videos,We have just purchased in Las Alcazares love if you could do a video in that area.
Spot on video that. Goes to show it’s the same the world over . I remember being in Las Vegas years ago and the strip is amazing and Fremont st also impressive but the bit in between both you wouldn’t go walking around especially not at night. There were bail bond shops everywhere so it did tell a story.
When it rains its just like Kirkcaldy. 😂
It is that 😂😂😂 why you think we moved! 😂😂🤮
Visit Los Montesinos and check out Montesol Villa, a complete building of House/Villa wreck 😮, it worth a visit and a video, if you could find out the reason as it a beautiful area but these buildings are a eyesore 😢
On that very run down street 18yrs ago was a small family B&B. The dowstairs was for the family & upstairs for guests. We had memorable times there & it's such a shame to see it as is is now. Also back then, the street after to the left & right was full of cheap shoe shops & lingerie shops.
Are they still there?
You need the rain! Thanks for the vlog.
Nice video, thanks
Very informative barry not sure about enjoying it could i make a suggestion please no one seems to make any videos on letting there must be 10s of thousands of us wondering who does lets for a month or 2 or 3 out of the main season sure there must be agents who would like to work with someone who has got a following just an idea👍
En españa,normalmente si llueve es un buen día.
Thanks BARRY i lived in torrevieja in 1985 when it was i fishing village and there was always area's no go but not as bad as it looks today think of all the money that's spent in on hospital in 1985 we had one small supermarket..😅 9:47 9:47
BAZ FEELS LIKE HOME LOL RAIN RAIN BUT ENJOYED UR VIDEO
Politics all over the word are going down that's if you know what's GOING ON
Good on you. Thanks but you are showing reality.
Interesting video Barry but as you say, every town has it's dark side. Even Benidorm has a very dark side and it's called Playmon Fiesta. One of the first high rise developments built in Benidorm in th early 70's. Bloques F and G are a definite no go area full of squaters, criminals, drug dealers and prostitutes.Even the Police don't go there. A frightening place.
So glad i stayed to the end,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,🤔
your right baz every town has problems 🙃
We lived in Torrevieja for 8 years. We moved to Orihuela because it was getting so bad.
Orihuela city? We’ve been there for the medieval fiesta.
@@ScottishCoupleInSpain No in the sticks x.
Sadly squatters are all over Spain which they try and keep quiet. You get no help from Guardia Civil from first hand experience . Had squatters in my wife's dad's fiat in Galicia. As we were in Torrevieja at the time, done an anunsia at police station but weren't getting anywhere. No language barrier as wife is Spanish.
Get a alarm and a bunker door 🤔
Is there nothing that can be done about the squatters?
Go through on the bus it goes through all the back streets not the nicest resort if truth be told.
God I hate graffiti , childish scribble just looks a mess anywhere I don’t understand it 🤷♂️
It will improve sooner than you think, Torrevieja is the fastest growing city in Spain, some places in costa del Sol are not far off, is comparable to Fuengirola alot of empty streets in the outer part loads of closed down shops run down buildings some whole building taken over by gypsies too
That's my point, but it's not with UK tourists, that ship has sailed for the town.
@@ScottishCoupleInSpainI think it’s going to improve and the prices being low attracts people for holidays, renting a holiday villa in torrevieja is pretty cheap compared to a lot of places in Spain
@@sunnybeachwalks4k2022 Doubt that . After living in Torrevieja for the last 17 years . We got Ukrainian draft dodgers arriving & Ukrainian drug cartels and Swedish crime gangs here now .
I.just.spent.a.month in.Fuengirola. Night.and day from.this place. It was busy.and delightful.
@@terrybogart589 yes, it is too busy in Fuengirola and costa del sol now !
so much graffiti and derelict buildings.
Some people like the edgyness to places gives them a bit character. Theres reasons TUI , Jet2 etc dont have hotels or offer holidays here no real demand or they would do sadly.
All the graffiti definitely put me off torrievija such a shame
Barry y Karen ..Has the Mayor got his way yet .. ie .. Park & Ride .. 🤷🏻♂️..
What a dump
walked through punta prima on the way to the beach couple of days ago, spotted someone scaling a fence into someone's property, i guess squatting there.
