The BUSTER SCRUGGS Behind The Back Shooting With A Colt Single Action Army

- We’ve all tried to hip shoot at some point in our shooting career, but how about in this video I do you one better? In the movie “The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs” the man of the namesake has a particular scene where he places his six-gun in an unorthodox position to fire a shot. And if the title of the video is any sort of hint, you place your pistol behind your back and fire the ugly slug at your target. And let me be the first to tell you, it’s a bit more daunting than meets the eye. Let’s see what happens!

YAY! My first thought was catching your jacket on fire...then you removed it. Whew! Good job.
Appreciate it, Santee! And that was my first thought! Putting a hole in the jacket or the jacket and gun conspiring to put a hole in me!
Once again I had the blues and St Andrew came to the rescue. Thank you for all your hard work.
Thank you for watching! This work is nothing without the fine people that support it!
Nice job! I love the old man digging for his gold in that movie - reminds me of a valley I know.... and a river....
That was my favorite chapter in the movie! The prospector!
I always love popping in every so often to see what new tricks you have. Wish your channel got the recognition it deserves. Never stop making this amazing content.
Thank you very much, friend! That truly means a lot! I appreciate the kind words and support!
Pretty neat trick shot. I suppose the thought of burning a hole in your frock coat would be a natural concern 😲
Judging from your video, establishing elevation was the most difficult. Not being able to see your weapon, combined with the constraints upon your body, this was indeed well done. 👍
I believe that I'll just have to try that. But I'm going use my new "Training Pistol", a Umarex Colt Peacemaker CO2 .177cal BB SAA. Exact in every detail of the real pistol, but costs $0.002 a shot.😊 Even though I cast and load my own, a 45 Colt costs me $0.12 a round. Plus I don't have to worry about setting my coat on fire!😂
Andrew, you're always pushing the envelope with trick shots and gravity defying spinning methods. You never cease to amaze me. 👍
Absolutely! Elevation was the terror of this one! Again, luck was with me! Could’ve been there far longer!
And I usually try to think a hair before attempting these shots! The coat was the first to go mainly because I didn’t want to get the old colt tangled in it especially when it was loaded!
Good luck when you try it, Wade! It’s kind of like shooting from the hip, but not really! Haha! Fun nonetheless! Always appreciate you stopping by and paying forward all the compliments! It’s sure does mean a lot!
First, Pretty cool haha I wish buster scruggs had more screen time lol
I appreciate it!
The ricochet hit was most impressive, could you do it again?
I will try that shot but using wax bullets powered by shotgun primers…..safer and cheaper.
My favorite cowboy
I think this was a super cool video, amazing shooting that was really impressive. I think maybe a video of his gun spinning from that movie would be a cool idea if you where looking for suggestions
I will look into it! Thank you, friend!
Safety first, my friend always . I applaud 👏🏼 you ! That was a difficult shot trying to match the trajectory ... Well executed !!
Always! Safety first, shooting second. No matter the situation! Thank you!
@@SaintAndrewTV Have you experimented with the famous coin roll /over the fingers , by Val Kilmer in Tombstone ?
@@docholliday1970 I have! Nowhere near as good for camera time, and certainly not even in the same ball park as Mr. Kilmer! But something I’d try to implement!
@@SaintAndrewTV I'm needing to practice more .. Hopefully, I can master it 😉
@@docholliday1970 I will practice with you my friend!
Oh to own multiple guns and have the skill to use them like this 💀
Also i dont know if its something you would normally cover because its not quite western ish BUT it would be cool to see you do some of the tricks or trickshots by Jesper Fahey from Shadow and bone. Either way love your stuff and keep doing it lad
I appreciate it friend! I will have to get brushed up on Shadow and Bone, but if I can put a twist on it, you best believe I will! A trick shot is a trick shot in my book, no matter the timeframe! All the best!
Fairly expected outcome; its much easier to hit a human-sized target than a balloon. Frankly, I would say I'm surprised you hit it at all, but at this point i don't doubt your skill.
Well that’s very flattering! Thank you very much my friend!
Not quite as accurate a representation because you didn't wave the gun in the other direction to simulate shooting 3 Bandidos first. Though if you look at the film you'll see the bartender was actually a little closer than 5 yards, so your shot is a little more impressive for that. Also, good job deliberately mis pronouncing "Scruggs" to trigger the movie fans and drive engagement.
I figured the gun spins into the shot was a little too risky means the gun was loaded lol! But I appreciate the compliment! And my Midwest accent strikes again!
Some intense parts of that movie. I was so mad at Liam Nelson.
@@jeepgirljody he does play a good villain!
@@jeepgirljody He has a very specialized set of skills.
I had to try this with my co2 Colt Peacemaker copy, pellet not bb,
5 yards or 15 feet is a fair old distance for Co2 gun behind the back, getting lined up with the balloon by eye judgement, then trying to feel the level of the gun without being able to see it, l got it second shot and again and another 6 shots l got 4 out of 6, but to be honest l think l was just lucky that my gun level behind my back was just the right spot more by luck than judgement, as when l heightened the balloon and took off my boots and tried it, it took me 17 shots to get it, then another 8 then 5 until l got lucky got 3 in a row and decided to quit while my luck was still in lol going to try again tomorrow and again the day after that with different levels and my right hand as I'm left handed, tho nearly as good with my right hand as l started using it more for other stuff about 5 years back as an experiment.
Its a lot less dangerous for me obviously, co2 not powder, but as l do it in my enclosed brick walled back yard l have to make sure l have my ballistic glasses on, and ive got a fair few pings off of ricochets lol, but bbs are worse for ricochet, so l leave them out lol.
Yours and Tuccos are my favorite real steel sites, and my favorite airsoft site is AlphaDogs.
It must be great having one of the most iconic guns in the world in a western rig and firing live ammo, l have fired real guns when l was both an army cadet, then an infantryman in the Green Howerds British Army now absorbed into the Yorkshire Regiment.
But we never got many pistols to shoot, only the captains collection of a Browning 9 mm an old heirloom of his a Webley VI his father had used ( I'm talking about the early to late 1970s when l joined up ) didnt get very long though as there were a platoon of us us all waiting for a go, l loved the Webley so ugly its beautiful, l now have a co2 copy of it.). Yep feeling the recoil of a real gun is something l miss, and never having a real peacemaker is like an itch you cant scratch enough lol.
Your vids are excellent Saint, l await each one eagerly.
Hey, I’m glad you gave it a try! You made due with the cards you were dealt! And I still find it wildly impressive that you were able to hit your mark and hit that mark consistently at that! CO2 or not, it’s still a chore to really not aim and feel your shot.
And I don’t feel bad that you don’t get to enjoy of the old western firearms. They really are something special to fire and just admire!
I appreciate you stopping by and letting me in on your own question of behind the back shooting! And I thank you for the compliments and the constant support!
Oh Saint what have you done.!!! 😮
This makes you a bad guy.
Why ?
Because now you're famous for back shooting. 😂😂😂
lol! I knew someone would catch it! hahahaha!
