The Ubiquitin-Proteasome System (UPS)​

The ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) is entirely a protein degradation system. It is the cell’s primary pathway for controlling regulated protein turnover and consists of a series of enzymes which conjugate ubiquitin chains to a target protein in an event known as polyubiquitylation. ​
