      Or you could save some money and spend all day watching videos about it instead!

    Would I effectively be able to sample from my smartphones headphone jack using an Aux to a 2 line 1/4 TS jack,
    In order to be able to bypass the need for a cdj?
    At the moment I am still unsure as to what I am able to use as a sampling source. And not being able to play audio files that are longer than 64 seconds has put a speed bump in creative processes.
    I don't want to pre chop ideas before putting them on a flash drive and was really hoping to get away from using the computer altogether while brainstorming.

    Its a shame this thing cant control external midi gear. I'd like this to be running my synths. An ideal live tool.

    • @djmattplay
      @djmattplay Před 7 lety +1

      Dzod it can sequence your synths via midi. You can also route the audio from the synth to the inputs and use the DS filter. Plus it can act as a hub for integrating your midi synth with a DJ setup. The SP-16 can sync via LAN to Pioneer DJ players. Then transmit the clock via midi to external midi gear. Essentially changing the pitch on a CDJ, will change the tempo of the external midi gear.

      It can now thanks to the latest update but its very basic. Its only a 4 note sequencer which is pretty weak for a premium product like this. I couldn't really care less about the dj features.

    • @djmattplay
      @djmattplay Před 7 lety

      Dzod how many notes at a time can other standalone sequencers send?

    • @dzod
      @dzod Před 7 lety +1

      Lots. In theory 127 notes per midi channel. But realistically there should be at least 16 note polyphonic sequencing per midi channel.

      Dzod interesting.. I'm curious what other sampler / sequencers have that type of capability

    Hey! Great talkthrough. Mine is on the way, and I just can't wait for it. Ordered mine with the new AS-1. Excited to see how that works out. Just a question, and this is by no means an attempt to be "anal", but at ~13:15 (ish), he says that the key is D Major. Doesn't Pioneer DJ usually depict major keys with "C, D, E, F ..", and minor keys with Cm, Dm, Em, Fm...?

  • @recurvmusic
    @recurvmusic Před 6 lety +3

    D minor...

    Tfw he thinks that the M in Dm means "major" instead of minor. Smh. Just goes to show you don't need even the most basic knowledge of music theory to use this stuff.

      Monsta Munch...I know mate. I’m a live musician. Drums, Guitar and keys with the best software around (Bitwig, Omnisphere and Soundtoys5 Fx). The tech is always dragging me into 4/4 and variants of 4. And I don’t think musicians who are often actually I.T experts and NOT musicians should talk music of they don’t know music. A basic understanding should be something the I.T crew should WANT to learn. You’re a guitarist aren’t you?
