- Pipeline pigging, also known simply as "pigging," is a crucial process used in the maintenance and operation of pipelines, particularly in the oil and gas industry. It involves the use of specialized devices called "pigs" to clean, inspect, and maintain pipelines, ensuring their efficiency, integrity, and safety.
The term "pig" stands for "Pipeline Inspection Gauge" or "Pipeline Intervention Gadget." Pipelines used for transporting crude oil, refined products, natural gas, and petrochemicals benefit from pigging. Pigging is used in water supply and wastewater pipelines to maintain flow and detect issues.
Thanks for these valuable info
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
"PIG" does not stand for either "Pipeline Inspection Gauge" or "Pipeline Intervention Gadget" or any other such nonsense - they just look a bit like pigs, and the original ones were made of straw bals wrapped with barbed wire which made a loud squealing noise.
