Packing Filler for Operation Christmas Child - 2022

- Today I am sharing a filler pack idea for you to consider making filler for the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center. When a box is processed and items are removed that are not allowed, we must fill the empty space up in the the box with filler items. Also when a box is not full, we add items to make it a full box for each child. Although OCC has many donated filler items in the bins for us to choose from, there is never enough school supplies or items for boys, in my opinion based on my many years working at the PC. You can donate any type of filler by bringing it to your drop-off location at collection time in a box marked "filler" or take it directly to the processing center closest to you. Love it! We should have coordinated and posted together. lol In a way we did. So that's awesome. Love your pencil packs! And wow, those 9 by 12 packs are amazing. I really like those smaller pencil packs you make - it has a little bit of everything. I like that you give a fun variety of erasers. So generous of you to give full size drawing and composition books for your pencil packs. The older boys will love it. My favorites are the bandana, and backpack. Love the drawing booklets you made. I hope to see these pencil packs during my OCC processing center shifts! This is seriously a shoebox within a pencil pack. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Thanks Sharon! Well hopefully we get to work together again! I remember getting one of your WOW pencil packs and it was amazing! We know how badly these are needed. How many boxes do we process with no wow or school supplies? Soooo many. It's all I can do to help and a small drop in the bucket but every little bit helps. I wanted to tell you that your video from last year about sending filler to the processing center, really inspired me and my family and gave us so much helpful info about what is really needed. We ended up packing WAY more as filler than we ever would have before. And this year, we've been packing pencil packs gradually all year long. I love that you shout at the PC. 😂 I also purchased those same drawstring bags. I thought they were super cute. I got some of the sliding puzzles but mine were a different design. I love how ideas are shared. ☺️
Thanks Carol. Oh I shout a lot at the PC! LOL. I can be heard "We NEED more filler!" amongst other things. I am sure you know the feeling! I have been asked by a local church to host an afternoon the first weekend in november for families to make filler items for the shoeboxes at the processing center! I needed this today! I went to Walmart today for Dr Fresh tooth brushes so I can add them to some of my pencil packs. I just love all of your idea's and inspiration. Did you add white card stock or computer paper for the drawing book? I'd like to make some of those. I loved those slide puzzles when I was little, great filler! What a great video to encourage folks to start thinking about filler. I'm going to have to come back and watch this a few more times. Thank you soooo much for sharing.

Love your pencil packs Denise! I usually send a giant box of stuff but I don’t make the packs, I suppose that’s just lazy of me😳. You included so many things in your packs, bless you for doing them. Oh btw, those corgi puzzles are my favorite!
Giant boxes full of stuff is great too! They have people at the PC to sort through them. Every little bit helps and is appreciated! I LOVE corgis! I'm working on a Corgi box for next year! LOL
@@drogers I know fillers are needed but your videos inspire lazy pencil pack makers like me want to do them! You and Sharon put the best ones together. I’m doing a corgi box next year too, in honor of my beautiful baby Xena who crossed the rainbow bridge last year. If you’re ever on the fence about getting a corgi, do it! She was my sweet furry friend for 13 years. We had some of the best conversations 🤣

I still gotta get in on doing these...I gotta find me some of those skinny bags for the pencils! I might just use the cello bags. I never see those erasers here 😒 I did get the smiley ones though. Awesome filler packs!

I don't use plastic bags, because of the possibility of moisture build up in the bag.
Good thought, but I don’t believe moisture build up is an issue in the boxes. When packing as many pencil packs as I do, the plastic bags are a very cost effective way to just provide a few school supplies to those boxes that need them. Thanks for watching and for packing pencil pack filler!
I"m just learning about this charity. So you can make a box yourself or online or do "fillers". How do you send fillers?
Hi Deb! Thanks for watching. Yes… you can pack a box yourself, pack a box on line and send fillers! Fillers can be dropped off directly at any processing center or any drop off location near you. Just put your items in a box marked FILLER. (Not a shoebox). There are many drop off locations listed on the website by zip code. I hope that helps!
where is the link for the pencil sharpeners
The pencil sharpener deal is over and I believe was a mistake on Walmart online...so I didn't include the link. Your best bet for sharpeners is Dollar Tree or Oriental Trading. There are other sources also but those would be my next choices. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
