Great review, Mark! I never thought I'd see someone review the ZSX-R :) I have one of these at the moment and it's been a fantastic first bike. I've gotten 650 miles out of two and a bit tanks of fuel and still have over half a tank left which should get me up to 700 miles if not a touch more. You can definitely get 300 miles out of a tank without even trying. I've mostly been using it for country lane jaunts on NSL roads and city commuting and it's great at both because it's so nimble and torquey. It has been solidly reliable and very forgiving of beginner mistakes (of which I've made a few!) and it's comfortable enough that I can ride for a few hours before needing a break - or even realising it's been that long in the first place. I've not had a single issue with it mechanically or otherwise; even after a month of no use it started up first time without any hesitation. The stock tires have held up well on the slippery winter roads so far, too. After hearing horror stories about Chinese tires I wasn't expecting them to be as grippy as they are. I really don't want to part with my bike and if I can keep it I certainly will. I'd highly recommend the ZSX-R to anyone who wants a brand new but affordable 125, beginner or experienced rider alike. It's seriously fun for such a wee thing.

I have had the ZSX-R for 8 months now and love it. I am 48 and it’s my first bike since passing my test quite a few years ago. Fuel economy is excellent on it and as you have said it’s a really comfortable ride. Only thing I would say the dash is missing, is a clock, but that’s my own personal preference. Can’t wait for lockdown to finish so I can enjoy the North Essex countryside on it a lot more. Great review, thanks Mark.

i started off on a lexmoto scooter and have just moved upto the lexmoto isca, OMG these bikes are the best they sip petrol literally, they are so comfy you can easily do a couple of hours before a break, they are very forgiving of new riders as i have found out and best of all it cost me £1200 brand new its a shame i can't put pictures on here my bike has been de-badged and looks stunning all in black i have had so many people ask about it and non of them believe me its a 125cc and my next bike will be the lexmoto voge 500DS i cant wait to get 1

I bought last year a Mash Falcone 125 and I am surprised how good it's been. Driving bikes for more than 45 years, 35 of those on 1000cc fours all Yamaha. This little bike I bought just to have a different way of driving, little roads no highways, slower maybe. It uses 2,7 liter per 100km.

I brought mine about 14 months ago right after completing my CBT, 37YO / 6ft
It has been a great bike for me; solid, great mileage (filled it about 6 or 7 times now, about 2.4K Miles in, so easily 300M+ range), Very pokey in urban - it will keep up with regular traffic no problem.
It is also a very comfortable ride - even in winter, no problems with the cold on the seat, and I don't need to shift around. riding position is great for me, fits 6ft no problem.
    one or two notes:
Gearbox is sticky from a cold start - on the centre stand the back wheel WILL spin in 2nd with the clutch pulled in and enough to stall the bike when changing into 1st gear. this doesn't happen once warmed up.
Sounds AMAZING! alomst embarrassing to ride it knowing its a 125 when it sounds like a much bigger bike.
brakes do squeal a bit - i have never used brake cleaner on it, so it may just be my bike and a bit of grease.
Chain has definitely expanded - about a chain link by now in 1 year of use - and I have fully cleaned, lubed and adjusted several times now. it has settled in, but if buying new, keep an eye on it.
adjust the gear lever and clutch tension - biting point seems sensitive to me, but is great once you get used to it - assuming it is well adjusted.
    for the price, definitely recommended.
    Edit:
fuel tracker app reports 108mpg average.

I have this bike also, riding it for about 18 months now, I found the sprocket setup was a little weird and the speedo is out by about 8-10 mph, I switched to a +1 / -1 sprocket ratio and seems to run a little better and can actually use 1st gear now haha, although if I did it again I would have gone up down more in the rear and wouldn't need to change the chain length.
Doing this did put the speedo a little closer to correct but still out about 5mph.
As stated by Mark though, great bike for learning, was my first bike after doing the CBT at 34, never had it fail on me yet :)

A mix of GSX-R and Z125, and you get ZXS-R 125. I wonder if that's how they came up with those letters🤔. 💖💖👏🏼👏🏼

Yes, the service intervals are shorter but, as you said, its mainly just oil changes.

Good review Mark. You seem to be carving yourself a nice little niche reviewing bikes that no one else would consider reviewing. Great little bikes to cut your teeth on although the service intervals sound ridiculous especially if you're commuting.

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  Před 3 lety +1

Definitely agree on the service intervals ...I suppose it's only really essential for the initial warranty period ,most four stroke single 125s should easily go 2-3 k miles on a good quality semi synthetic oil .

Iv had mine for 3 years and it been a massive pain in the @#$# the engine light was on for the first 6 month for no apparent reason the center stand broke 1 year in and could not be removed with out cutting it off had chipped paint paint and rust from 6 months despite being cleaned weekly I do not rate the paint, it's comfortable and a good ride but I just seem to have no end of problems with mine.

Where I come from "going for a whizz" means taking a pi$$, lol!.... Upvote for comedy. 50mph is enough to be doing on any country road in case you meet someone coming the other way (as I once did, in my work van) who was taking the tree out of country passing a line of cars, ignoring 5ft SLOW lettering & emerged after overtaking a tractor on a blind bend fully on my side of the road. For that reason I'd love to see someone do Full "Brake-to-Halt" from 30 & 50mph. How many braking metres to Full Stop.
