💑 About Hercules Candy
Hercules Candy has been on Steve’s side of the family since 1910(ish). When he took over in the 70’s, he anticipated after 10 years of hard work, he could move the business out of the basement and into a real storefront. Unfortunately, it took until 2018 for that to happen, but hey at least it happened! Steve and Terry own the shop, Craig (the social media manager) is their son, Cara (wrapper and shipper extraordinaire who is poised to take over the shop one day) is their daughter and Leah (who doesn’t love being on camera and is very elusive) is their oldest daughter. Karen has been working for Hercules Candy since the twins (Craig and Cara) were about 6 months old and everybody else is a new recruit. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the 🔔 for more videos!

Watching this family business grow over the years has been amazing. An intimate view into an American business going from basement to enterprise. I haven’t purchased candy yet as I’m trying to watch my figure but I live vicariously through these videos.

I am Greek Orthodox (Eastern Orthodox) and my late husband was a priest. I have many Jewish friends and have attended many weddings. It is so wonderful to see all the similarities in different faiths. My father once shared with me when I was 10 or 11 that when he was at a Bar Mitzvah of his friends son … if he closed his eyes he could feel like he was in church as the plagal tones were so similar to many of those used in our church.
In our community here in Monmouth county NJ the clergy had a very close community that brought them together once a month at least for food and fellowship. They would hold Seders and other celebrations to share customs and practices with our neighbors of all faiths.
So many of our customs in the Greek Orthodox faith come directly from the practices of your faith. Our babies are given a blessing- naming on their 8th day and mother and child do not attend church until they come to receive their entry and blessing into the church 40 days after birth… much as Christ was taken by his Jewish parents to the temple.
I pray for a world where peace and understanding will prevail and we can all live with love and respect for all!!

You guys should look into something called shoulder dollys. It's a harness you wear with a strap between you that you put under the object you're trying to move that way you don't have to lift it all you have to do is steady it while your shoulders Bear all the weight
Yeah, those lifting straps that we didn't use 😂 are very similar to what you described

I kind of sit here on the sidelines thinking "Oh I wish I could meet them and see something be made" knowing that I'll probably visit but will shy away and won't ask to meet anyone lol.

Have you guys done pretzel brittle?? Maybe a peanut/pretzel combo. Call it "bar brittle" or "beer brittle"... Basically like bar snacks in brittle form, like beer nuts.
I have a thought about enrobing potato chips. Not sure if you’re already doing this but perhaps you can use a thick cut like Tim’s. They’re a bit more sturdy for dipping and things. They taste good too.

I feel like an enrober would work much better if the curtain could flow freely and the puddle came later. As it is, the stuff on the belt hits the puddle (or more like "pile") and gets pushed out of position.
Maybe that was the idea behind the double curtain on the old one?

Divert the air to not blow as much chocolate off the chips to see if the shaker works well enough to not need to fill in gaps on chips?

I just wonder, if one puts oreos at rows of 4-3-4-3-4 instead of constant 4-4-4-4 , that would there be so much more space, that one actually saves times , because coocies wount stick together

For now three, we're planning on selling the other one. It works just fine, but this one is more specific to our needs
I have to ask.. what in the heck is all the stuff stacked in every square inch of that place?!? I see stacks and stacks of used boxes and buckets. Just wondering what all that stuff is and if y’all actually use it or recycle or just hoard? Not judging at all!!’ I do the same thing. But your space is filling up fast!

I have a question not specifically related to this video, but can you explain why Steve always dips his hands in water and then gets the gloppy syrupy stuff by the handful instead of some other way like by weight or by volume?
Water stops the corm syrup sticking to hands.
So the cookie being used is an oreo cookie and your machine covers it with some sort of chocolate ? Can you please explain how that works with the oreo company and reselling, thanks.
They sell it to a customer and the customer eats it

I don't understand the dot which changes color when it wants you to inspect the contents. Maybe a moisture warning?
It's a shock meter. If it's red it means that the package took a hit hard enough to trip the sensor and potentially damaged the product.
