Great video and great story. Your insights have been valuable, and the quality of your videos, combined with your expertise, makes it an indispensable source of information and entertainment for us.
You are so kind! So happy to hear that you're enjoying this channel all the way from Argentina. Very cool. Thank you for these encouraging words!
first week owning a doberman: the separation anxeity is real, i was already prepaired for it. i am one of few lucky to only work average 3 hours/day and spend the rest of the day with my new dobeman. i go to work 1 hour and when i come home he had found a blanket and tore it to pieces
Love the yoga mat technique, I would use a small rug, treats are a great source of training 💯 good job Hank.
Rachel did a great job with that, didn't she? Her and Hank both rocked that Yoga mat; a small rug is a wonderful idea as well!!
Thanks Rachel and Hank! I find it really interesting to hear any tips or advice Dobie owners have👍
Thank you! Loved seeing this video come together; they did such a great job!
Excellent video! Thanks Rachel & Hank. “Calming Mat training” was invaluable in dealing with my reactive rescue Dobie. Lying on the Mat (a navy blue towel) was his “job,” which is very important for handling a reactive dog.
My Dobie will grab the rolled up towel on top of his crate and (attempt) to spread it out and lay on it when he needs something to calm himself. (e.g., it’s New Years Eve as a write this, and he grabbed his Mat and went into the walk-in closet to comfort himself.)
That's so great to hear that your Dobie self regulates in that way! Great job training him to know what to do when he needs that comfort/a "job"!
Fantastic and great job being in tune with your Dobie's needs! With more sensitive pups, just like people, anxiety can lead to ways of coping that are destructive or not helpful. It's up to the people around them to give reassurance and teach healthy self-soothing techniques. I get so angry when I see people get frustrated and angry with their dogs because they're being destructive or acting out in other ways, but don't want to commit the time and energy into proper training 😠
Did this with my service dog. She’s not a Doberman but this method is very affective!
Excellent video, and thank you for the yoga mat explanation.
You're welcome, Cathy! Rachel did a great job explaining how she uses that. Super great tool!
Wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your training techniques! Hank is a handsome and smart dobie!
Your look so beautiful rachel and Dobbie
Great job Rachel, the next level is to teach him skiing. To all - Happy New Year 2024.
Haha, yes! Wouldn't that be something?! Happy New Year!

Kudos to Rachel and Hank. Well done!
They both are such a great team! Thanks for your positivity and taking the time to leave this comment, Sheilah!
Enjoyed the video. Very cool. Love “how to “ videos.
Thank you! Noted! :)
Love the yoga puppy ❤
"Yoga puppy" - love that!
Love this!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed this video, Sandra!
Amazing! Love this! ❤❤❤
Thank you for your positive feedback!!
I love the mat idea!! I've usually used blankets for traveling, but I usually have to wash them after flying on a plane or driving long distance. The mat would be much easier to clean. Thank you for sharing!
Great idea!
Thank you for your positive feedback!
I have family in Italy and I go there every few years to visit. I am definitely going to try this with my Doberman so that I can bring her with me. I absolutely hate traveling and not being able to bring her because she’s so anxious and nervous. She was adopted as well and even though she has come along way, there is still a few things that bother her.
What a great video! Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed this video! Thanks for your feedback!
Great video! 👍🏻 A small note: dogs do not try to dominate humans. They know we're not dogs. The theory of dogs trying to dominate humans has long been debunked - but it's unfortunately a myth that's very popular in America. I hope that Doberman Planet will be a frontier on this matter in the near future.
Very good topic my friends, I absolutely appreciate you sharing this bless you too. I also wish you a happy new year.
Thank you for your feedback, Peter! We hope you have a Happy New Year as well!
Helpful! I probably don't have this problem because I had no choice but to take Flint to work with me almost immediately after I picked him up at 8 weeks. He travels in the car kennel like a champ. I might use this technique or some variant when he is too big for the car kennel, which will be soon.
That's a great idea! So glad you've had an easy transition so far...being young really helps them get adjusted to those things more smoothly!
I miss Arlo 😢
7:25 Are you driving a car in/on a train?
I lost my dober man moby 😭 last Saturday 06.01.2024...i couldn't believe this she's no more 😭🥺😭😔😔😔... she's such amazing pet 🐕....i couldn't bare the loss of pain😢😢😢
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for all the love!!
thank you , can you also show us all the procedure like the crate( the size and all the measures needed ) and the airport process and as I know in some countries dobermans are banned
Great question! Not 100% sure on the crate size she used, but each airline will likely have their own regulations on that.
I think the prerequisite would be that the dog move freely in the crate and can turn inside the crate but i would like to hear from people about the size and overall measure because i bought one before and was small , rabies is a prerequisite for all the countries but i would to see someone actually travels with his Doberman
I have been watching a lot of your Doberman videos. For anyone who has had experience owning both a Doberman and an Australian Shepherd, which one is typically easier to manage?
I have an Australian Shepherd, but probably the mellowest of the most hyper breed and probably a mix. But, hypothetically, if I could handle an Australian Shepherd, could I possibly handle a Doberman?
I know there might be different perspectives, like their personality to consider which are different and probably both difficult in two different ways. The Aussie is hyper, intelligent yet stubborn, but more omega role type in family setting. Dobie, I hear, isn't AS hyper, (still quite active) intelligent yet stubborn, but more alpha role type in family setting so. Maybe both difficult in different ways perhaps?
So, if anyone here had both, which did you find was better and/or easier to manage and why? I'm very curious.
My next dog might be another Aussie, but one day I want a Doberman.
Hey there - I was trying to get you info on this. I was looking at your consults - and just wanted to confirm (I am in Canada) that it is 500$ for the 45 - 50 min?
Hi my name is Aiko the Dobie! People think dobermans are scary and vicious and it’s true come look how scary I am.
my familey use to own a doverment but he was not trained well so he would not obay once he ate a sock and pooped it out ya i miss him
Oh no! Well, training is a lot of responsibility. It definitely takes deliberate time from the owner to have an obedient and great companion, but well worth it!
I wouldn't take my E.D. "Jed" to anywhere in the "developing" world or Asia at all. I knew a German expat when I lived in the Philippines and he imported a red dobey puppy. The poor thing had skin and gut problems his whole life there. Theres just so many diseases that thrive in the hot climate, then, the locals finally poisoned him. People in those countries are often petrified of any big type dogs and they don't share the same love for canines like us Westerners have. Just my two cents.
That's so sad! What a discouraging story of hearing the hard life that German and his dog went through. It's hard for some to overlook the stigma some of the breeds once had.
@@DobermanPlanet Even here in our new "home" of Klamath Falls Oregon, (the east side, NOT near Portland!) at our local leashless forest park where I can run him free alongside my p.o.s. E-bike, I find lots of people absolutely petrified of him because he's a E.D. and they assume he will eat their Yorkie as a snack. I've had people totally bitch me out for being off leash, as my Jed is bouncing around trying to play with said Yorkie or whoever, or cowering behind my legs if said Yorkie growled and snapped at him. Wimp, and thats OK. He just wants to run and play with everyone!
I thought "oh, it'll be great to learn how people learn to travel with their doberman!"
"We don't fly with our doberman, we just take him on the train."
Lol that's no help at all.
We'll add air travel to our list of topic ideas! Thank you for your feedback!
It's too bad Hank's ears and tail are wrong
Dude, stop plugging your unrelated biz.
