    How much time did your computer take to render such work ? Because my Ryzen 5 5600X (6 cores, 12 threads) need 1h15 (or 45 min if I do nothing else during the rendering time) just to render stylized_male_face.blend from your gumroad tutorial. Is it normal ? Thanks :)

    • @robenriven
      @robenriven Před 2 lety +1

      not normal, you really need to learn how to render. Is not as simple as pressing the render button. Look the samples you use among other things.

    • @Kelenn35
      @Kelenn35 Před 2 lety

      @@robenriven thanks, but I didn't make the mentioned file. I just opened it and pressed F12. The scene has 626 218 triangles, 7 lamps and a lot of shading tuning. Render engine is Cycles with GPU compute selected (so it's my Radeon RX 6600 XT doing the job I guess). Sampling is on path tracing for integrator and 3000 samples for the render. I tried 20 instead of 3000 and it's very fast (less than a minute) but the result is very very very noisy.

    • @robenriven
      @robenriven Před 2 lety +1

      @@Kelenn35 well 3000 is a lot. and 20 is really low. If you are doing it in blender you could look for a tutorial about rendering. Blender guru for example has a tutorial for making renders, and tips to make it more "friendly", so you dont have to waste an entire day rendering

    • @robenriven
      @robenriven Před 2 lety

      @@3polygons this are the kind of questions that doesnt make sense. The answer is literally the program you use. I use zbrush a lot, and if I try to sculpt in blender i am pretty slow, not because zbrush is better, the reason is that i am used to zbrush workflow. So, there you go, thats your answer

    Have you every considered animating your models?

    • @Kelenn35
      @Kelenn35 Před 2 lety +1

      From my understanding, sculting is not compatible with animation, because of the structure of faces (3 vertices instead of 4) so it may crack the model on many places, and the very high number of polygons would give a very hard time to any computer.

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons Před 2 lety +3

      Even in animation you can do this workflow, then retopologize by tracing (actually "modeling over" the high res one) a low res model, which better be formed by quads that bend well in the direction of the bends (ie, for face expressions, shoulders, etc), but use the high res model to generate the normal map or displacement map, and make the low res model use these maps to create this sensation of detail in the render, despite using a model of a few thousands of triangles. I don't work in animation (worked in games), but I suppose this is a workflow that they might do (not sure, tho).
