    A little advice;
    I am a professional 3D character artist, the first tablet I bought was a very small tablet (Wacom Intuos Small). It has been a very sufficient tablet for me to improve myself. After I started making money over time, I bought myself a drawing monitor(Huion Kamvas), but it hurts my back so much that I still use that little tablet(just zooming in a little more is enough :)).
    Someone who has just started this profession / hobby (even professionally like me) does not need expensive toys. All you need to have is the courage to compete with yourself and to be disciplined.
    Over time, you will be able to expand your collection and have much more equipment, but none of them will bring you the success that will make you happy. Just work hard and don't delay your goals. It almost doesn't matter what kind of tablet you use. Even for your most detailed work, a small tablet will do the trick. As long as you want to do this job, you will definitely find a way.

      Same story for me, as a pro 3D artist (but on the environments side). I can’t agree more with your advice.
      Tablets are just tools, we only need the one that suit our goals and confortable every day of works. Whatever the size, tech or brand.
      If I may complete about the drawing monitors :
      They are too often presented as « the best tool of our dreams », like it’s normal to have one of them some day. Like the final achievement of the perfect pro setup. But its just a tool…. and it won’t do the job better for us. WE do the job as an artist.
      I really like you mention being hurt with these devices, not too much people are talking enough about this. I guess we have to test a drawing monitor for weeks to realize and feel how it impact the posture and gesture. And how our working space could be a mess in order to accomodate the device. Even with a standing arm.
      What I learned from my dream to get a wacom cintiq and sell it after a month - being hurt too : drawing monitor are suitable and confortable for drawing, because it’s like the natural gesture of drawing on papers or working on a tilt-desk. But in 3D, most of the gesture is concentrate in the center of the screen, meaning a lot of small micro-movements. Or often swinging the arms from corner to corner, to reach the small UI buttons (we love UI and lenu in 3D software ahah). Of course we are all different and some would be fine using a drawing monitor for 3D job without issues, but just to mention it’s far from perfect. Just a tool depending of our needs.
      Still love my good old intuos 3 wide :)

      @@migueleng7634 I absolutely agree with everything you said. It's really sad that it turned into a very expensive 60hz second monitor after you lost your whim for using the monitor. I am a person who works close to 10 hours a day, even though it has a monitor arm, it causes excruciating pain. Especially if you don't have a monitor arm, using a keyboard turns into a real torture. If there is no chance to take a break of 10-20 minutes at the beginning of every hour, I do not recommend it to anyone.
      In my opinion, it makes much more sense to put aside the money spent on buying a monitor and spend it on improving your computer.

    • @Rallba
      @Rallba Před rokem +5

      @@danieleccleston7928 Never delete the files of the first models you made. You will lose a lot of motivation and your savior will be to look back and see how much you have improved.
      Don't compare yourself to people who have done this job for years more than you. It always disappoints you...
      What I said above are things that will come in handy in the future. If you are very new, I think you can find multi-material concept designs and try to model them.
      What I mean by multi-material is: For example, a metal sword wrapped in fabric or an I-pad with a leather sheath. Having more than one material in the model you choose will play a huge role in the development of your skill. Having leather, metal, glass or fabric in the same model will greatly improve your perspective. You can make sure that there are at least 3 different ones.
      This may sound silly, but I highly recommend it;
      Try not to model by following a fixed tutorial video. For example, do you need to model a belt when making a character? Watch a few different tutorials on leather belt modeling. You will get different tips from each of them, this will speed up your work a lot.
      If you are going to sculpt; After learning the program you want to use, you can watch all the other programs, almost all of them are the same. For example, if you decide to use Blender, watching Zbrush courses will add a lot to you. Be careful not to make yourself a fan of a program. All of them have the same brushes, nearly only the difference between them is UI. Not make the UI a obstacle for you. So don't miss the opportunity to learn a lot because of this.
      Being good at one thing is much better than being average at many things. I recommend that you choose your focus within a maximum of 5-6 months. You may have to decide whether to design the character or the environment.

Its just so bad.I m much faster with a mouse, better results, movin inside blender feels with mouse so much faster even withou knowing shortcuts.Definitely answer : stay on mouse if you are used to mouse.Only one improovment its a real display tablet, because thats like real drawing on paper, here by tablets its so unnatural watch the monitor but draw somewhere else.Those tablets are so bad for me that i m just like starting to learn sculpting.With real display monitor tablets on other hand i have no proble.I using mouse for sculpting and the monitor tablet for adding details an painting.
