It's a masterpiece and it's worth the wait
@@Solomon_Amoasi972Absolutely
I imagine the courses work with updated versions of Blender?
@@InTheRedShirt The head course does not teach blender sculpting tools basics, it teaching sculpting heads. You can even use it with a different program if you prefer. You should however have some knowledge of the sculpting tools you are using, atleast at a basic level. This is explained more in depth in the FAQ section of the course, in the gumroad page ;)
It’s worthy sir and you are awesome as always
Yan: "Not every piece needs to be a masterpiece"
Also Yan: *proceeds to create a masterpiece*
I wish but thank you!
Everyone define of master piece is different, I suppose this is barely a sketch for yan sculpt
haha! Nah tbh it turned out pretty cool it was one of my good sculpts rest assured I do bad ones too, just come see me live on twitch xD
This actually inspired me to start sculpting and stop procrastinating. This video got right into what I needed and wasn’t too long for me to watch. Thank you so much, man!
Glad to hear that, now if you ever lose. motivation come back here and read your comment again! Good luck ;)
what an incredibly polished video, really makes 3d sculpting more fun to watch
Thanks!
I can tell the effort that was put into this video. It inspired me to get out of bed today and do some sculpting during a depressive state :)
First of all thanks for the kind words, I’m glad my video helped in any way! Take care of yourself and keep the positive mood going 🫡💪
@maximumdinosaur I hope you're doing better.
Awe inspiring!
Slight addition:
I think this type of sculpting style is what I would like to aim for in my own stuff (3D + grease pencil accents) so I really enjoyed the showcase and tips!
Thanks Harrison!
This is so amazing and super inspiring. I love the character you created so much!!! I'm going to practice more sculpting now :) Thank you for an amazing video.

🫡 thanks haha
Thanks for sharing! it`s a great job what you have done, it seems blender have many secret to be explored! I`m using huion too , but a smaller one 16 inch
Always something new to learn, glad you liked it!
Really nice. I like the new video look
Thanks!
yansculpt i love how you make the hair. instead of smoothing the hair you keep the voxels to have that stylized look the one thing that reminds me is some valorant concept art, and added grease pencil elements of the sculpts. I think this is the artstyle i want to make in my sculpts and i hope you have more future sculpts using this process
Will do thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@yansculpts also in grease pencil you can enable use lights to make your grease pencil line react to the lights
i turned it off, it is on by default, not a fan
@@yansculpts oh ok and one more question, im curious why u use material preview instead of render preview?
no crazy reason, preview has the hdri there, render you have to set it up (usually when you want to render, for my purpose here it wasn't needed
Just gotta love that grease pencil😁
Me too, thanks!
This video was awesome. Better than your other videos.
thank you, glad it is it took much longer !
Me encanta, gracias por compartirlo.
My pleasure 🙏
🎉 congratulations 😮 it your best vidéo for me
Thanks!
beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Being watching 2016, but Editing on this video is wild🔥
Oh you are from the start of the channel! nice to still have you here :)!
Awesome work bro, its cool to see a master in their field. How long did it take for you to get to this level?
ah man hard to say, progress isn't linear. watch my art progress video i guess!
3d aside I love the editing in this video
Ty you Fooy!
This video may have more than 70% of retention. I think you will reach the million subs following this kind of video edition, even if takes 200hrs to make it, it worth it.
Far from it, we have a very niche audience, especially a video focused on teaching sculpting. Also youtube isn't having an easy time finding the right audience atm xD. Thanks for the encouraging words though! More to come, in one way or another!
Thank You :D
thank you! and welcome!
This way of sculpting is an additive type, where you add stuff to the sculpture.
But have you try subtractive type? like stone and wood sculpture
Hmm generally you have to do it that way with these materials, would it really make sense to do that here? Interesting thought!
Very nice 🤟♥️
Thanks!
Proficiency 👌👌
thank you!
🔥🔥🔥
Amazing bro. Your art really inspiring me to create mine. Im just 15 old dude))
That's awesome! Keep at it 💪
Thanks for the cool tutorial, I really liked it. Can I please find out how you rendered the scene? Do I need to apply any rendering settings?
this is material preview, i didn't render the scene.
I showed the material used in the video, other than that there is the model and lighting.
If the colors are not contrasty enough you can check out color management in blender, that can help.
Awesome going with the video, feels like you're going for it.
It would also be awesome to have longer sculpting-chapters, or if maybe even it'd be something that was streamed. For me I'd love chapter 1 to be real-time, like I can't slow-mo enough to get an idea of your approach to do the nose 😅
Now I saw the course! 😊
haha I was gonna mention it, also if you can come on streams you can see me do some stuff live. I will do more content here too covering many stuff!
@@yansculpts I'll absolutely try to catch a stream, often gets lost in time-zones
makes sense!
Wow!
yay thanks :)!
please make a halo mega bloks action figure 3d would love to see your amazing talent on it have not seen any how to make action figure videos and really
hmm I know there are some good youtubers on that. Check out groundeffected for example
Great presentation. What are you using to add the graphics over the video? Great Stuff.
premiere and thanks
ok totally understand thanks
🫡
I need this video in a course format please!
Haha it might not be 100% same but the closest would be the course mentioned here on sculpting heads, then it is all about leveling up to create more appealing heads, aside from that main diff is the gp which is explained in this video
Ofcourse that course isn’t an introduction to blender tools either if that is what ur looking for check the patreon crash course instead
I love your content Yan, I use ZBrush to sculpt characters and your videos help me a lot to learn and improve! Soon I would like to learn how to use Blender, and I wanted to ask you about how in minute 3:00 you can work the facial features symmetrically even though the model's face is not symmetrically oriented. Usually I first make the face from the front with symetry and once finished I rotate it. I would like to be able to sculpt directly in 3/4 while keeping the symmetry on so I can have a better view of the model and it's general pose. So how do you do it? its a blender feature? or there is something more that I'm missing?
P.S: I love how this chaarcter ended up looking
Thanks!
The symmetry takes into account the origin point. If you move the object and or rotate it in object mode (not edit mode), the origin point follows, so symmetry does as well.
Great video, absolutely love the end result! However as I was following along to learn more about sculpting and just getting a starting base for my own thing, I noticed the Symmetrize tool in the sculpt space wouldn't work for me, no matter what I tried. It wasn't too big of a deal for me as I did want the arms to have separate poses/detailing, but I'm concerned that it'll happen again when I actually need/want it to work. Do you have any idea as to what happened to break it and how I could potentially fix it?
yes! Look up object origin point, that should be in the center, if you still can't figure it out come to one of my lives and ask the question, ill show
Gawx Art style, i like it
he is from another species, crazy dude! thanks!
What tablet are you using to create these amazing 3d renders
Huoin Check my channel for a video on it. ✌️
Hello, I really like your video and I would like to know what tablet you use to design?
huoin 24 pro and thanks!
I love your content, and I'm a huge fan of your work! I'm totally interested in your course, but I use zbrush instead of blender, do I think I would still be able to follow along?
Yup, these courses are focused on the sculpting aspect not the tool, feel free to email me if you have other questions. Also if you go to the gumroad page of the course down there is a faq part!
@@yansculpts this is amazing!!! Thank you so much!
welcome!
I usually texturing on substance painter on my laggy pc, Painting texture in blender looks interesting but kinda hard to use.. Hardest part is node editor
Node editor becomes much easier as you learn it rest assured!
I was shocked just now that I wasn't subscribed 😢😢
haha never too late! Thanks!
With your sculpting course your offering do I have to use blender or can I use another digital sculpture program.
you can use another, it is focused primarily on teaching how to sculpt in general. You should ofcourse feel comftrable with your program of choice!
@@yansculpts ok thank you so much this really helps.
my pleasure!
Just came across ur channel and wanna get into 3d sculpting for a min just got my pc rig to do so. I know you have ur own classes and stuff and obviously you would reccomend it, however do you think someone with absolutely 0 skillset should get rn to learn things (it does look really in depth especially with anatomy) or do you reccomend some other stuff to get familiar and have some skillset before I jump into your courses. Really want to make some characters of my own.
courses is not a must, it is helpful. Having a subject or a bunch of subjects properly covered in a good format can work wonders, but everything can be learnt in different ways if you prefer.
Here is what I would focus on if you want to sculpt:
Learn a tool to sculpt (for example find a youtube tutorial on sculpting tools of blender to try it out) I also have a patreon crash course for any patreon who joins if you prefer it in a course format, you can quite after the first month if that is all you want from there.
Once you have a tool, to get good at characters you need a very good understanding and a lot of practice on art fundementals (look it up for more details). This is a long journey so how you want to proceed is up to you.
My head and anatomy course are great for peeps who already know how to use the tool, which ever it is (you can even follow with zbrush since these courses are focused on sculpting and excercises rather than how to use a tool).
They are not enough though, again art is a journey. You have to keep practicing and learning the art fundementals, but the good news is the journey is the best part of this all, focus on improving everyday and enjoy the process. Best of luck!
How long does it take you to make a piece like this, typically? Great stuff, man!
this one was rather fast, i think less than 5 hours. There is no rule really, could take this much or much longer depending on many factors
the whole video took over 200 hours though haha
@@yansculpts so cool that you can make this in an afternoon
hours are deceiving though, it is usually hard to stay focused for that long so it usually spreads out instead of being one day
I just randomly searched the channel and to my suprise a video was uploaded 2 hours ago.
it has been a while sorry about that, this one took a while to do!
@@yansculpts 10 months is quite a while. But we are happy that we got our good old Yan upload a new video.
@@kumarisudha1197 Ahh i actually had 11 videos in between, removed all of them due to quality and performance reasons, I also did 3 months of daily streaming in that time. So i didn't really stop!
This one took a little over a month total to do, it was intense though!
Love your work! Would you share a list for your computer configuration? i'm planning to upgrade my computer to learn digial scuplt in blender.
Mine is overkill but if you want to see it go to my twitch chat and type !specs there!

hey a free course ???!!! why not thanks yan
Haha! Thanks for watching 💪
Can you use that model for animation after sculpting ?
You need to retopologize your sculpts for efficient rigging and animation
i am making a mega bloks halo video game and hope maybe you could do a video on making model in blender like that 😁
To be honest that is too specific I don’t want to keep ur hopes up!
Stand Proud. You have cooked 🙌
I shall cook again in the future, thank you!
Reminder: adjust your sitting position 😉
Yes posture is important! Kona random but true haha
What is the font you use in video transitions?
sorry no clue, i just scroll and put what works!
I'm curious what is your navigation scheme? I don't see ya using the wacom buttons.
look up my sculpting in blender for beginners video, one of the first steps is navigation, same settings till today!
@@yansculpts Thank you
welcome!
What tablet do you use?
Huoin 24 pro, review on my channel!
This is really cool but maybe u could tone back on the editing a bit? Its a lot and suoer fast paced compared to ur other stuff and all the sound effects... super short title slides.. i have no time to process. Its not rly a tutorial.
Thanks for the input! I will still modify my new method if the future, i really appreciate the feedback.
Btw, Some edits like tips in blender i purposely made fast not sure if you meant those (these tips are not really part of a workflow video, they are sort of extra). You could pause to see these little parts.
If however the video was about blender tips and shortcuts, I would have slowed down on these parts if that makes sense?
The purpose of this video is showing the workflow, I hope atleast these parts where easy to understand? If you have questions feel free to ask, glad to help :)!
Hello Yan. I have a question. How do you sell your work or your incomes come from youtube only?
Check out this timestamp, through courses, patreon, etc. Online income is a hussle, you gotta balance doing what you love and find ways to make content that can pay the bills as well ;)
07:40 Chapter 2.5 - Learn how to Sculpt
You have to be good at digital painting ❤😅
haha funny enough, i taught myself sculpting, some drawing, but not digital painting. I learned how to paint through painting my 3d models for the most part (i did study from a color and light book in the past, and tried some digital painting as well, just not much)
Just curious, Is there a reason you never show the final view of the sculpt in actual rendered view. With either eevee or cycles?
At the end the reveal was in eevee, maybe i misunderstood, what do you mean?
@@yansculpts Ohhhh I see that now. It looked like you werent for a sec.
ahh ok!
