I love watching these video's over again. I pick up things I missed the first time.
As you zoomed in on the ember from your drill, I caught the unmistakable smell of a wood fire. Neighbor is burning brush in his yard lol. Super cool coincidence though and perfect timing.
My own first solo campsite as a veteran Marine after honorable discharge was back in 1978 in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 8,500 feet at a mountain plateau with a natural spring for water and a wild quail that I had shot with my Colt Woodsman 22LR pistol earlier that day. I was about to start grad school after a 4 year your of duty with Uncle Sam"s M.C. It was an idyllic experience which I will always remember and cherish like you do as well.
My wife walked in on me replaying that breakfast sandwich on closeup for the 3rd time at @ 20:17, felt like I was 15 getting busted with a Hustler magazine. Great video as always. Colorado.

For me, a comfortable, well-executed, solo overnight in the woods is the holy grail of most of my fun in the woods; always has been, and I guess it always will be. Best is when it is at the end of a long bushwhack. I like all of your "solo overnights". 3/23... so, thank you.

Really enjoy your vids. I'm disabled and don't get out in the woods often, but watching you reminds me of the old days camping with my brothers. Your knowledge along with your mellow character on camera is a nice combination.

Every time I see you with a Corporal McMuffin, it makes me want one, hoorah! I gotta do me a video like that. Maybe the season. I'm looking into buying me a lot in the woods, so I can do overnighters too. To do that here in NH, you gotta go north to the White mountains national forest, a couple hours from me. But I got my eye on something only twenty minutes away. A 1.3 acre lot in the middle of basically nowhere. Great for camping/bush-crafting. It'll be like having my own sandbox, lol. Wish me luck.

Just a side note.....I bring the cone style coffee filters to run my boiled water thru.....because I've had to use some fairly nasty looking water before and it will filter out the cheweys if you make cowboy coffee....
There weight is next to nothing, they are paper so you can soak them in cooking grease to start your next fire...
The coyote, bear, wolf statement made me laugh. All three will stay away from the fire if it is kept going.....If your in a area with brown bears and wolverines....you better bring your printing tool!

Bacon, eggs, cheese, Canadian bacon and English muffins??!! That has to be the best meal ever!! After the video I'm heading to the kitchen!
Consider getting yourself some pruning sheers 2.5" I use the Fiskars PowerGear2 from Home depot. They're lightweight and awesome for cutting limbs to burn. I see so many people consume calories like crazy by using saws. You can cut dead branches to burn in seconds vs calorie consuming minutes. I take mine everywhere I need a fire! You won't regret it.
I totally agree: shears and loppers are great labor savers. And saws are often better than an axe.
