This dialogue seems to paint a picture of joy and harmony.
The greatest enemy is from within
Just in the last few days there has been horrendous atrocities and a pogrom by right wing settlers against the Palestinians
It’s bizarre that Netanyahu is praised whereas the reality is that he has convened a total right wing government that would disagree with everything that has been said here in this dialogue
The Arab countries should have entered these accords with an expression of more leverage to ensure that the rights and freedom of the Palestinians is genuinely forged. At this stage it’s only about their financial and geo political gains.
The Great honourable and sincere Nelson Mandela in his fight against apartheid in South Africa said “ We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians “
Thank you to the president of the Union who was highlighting the very true nature of the real situation with his fair and balanced questions

My point is that these Arab countries were attacked by Iran, the UAE was attacked with rockets by The Houthis and Bahrain Shia population revolted against the government in the Arab spring with Iran assistance. So saying the Arabs should push for the rights of Palestinians who are committing ter*or attacks and clearly don’t want peace is laughable because these countries want to look for their safety first then care about the safety of people who want to be martyrs.

Let’s assume the Palestinian/Israeli or Israeli/Palestinian situation is worse than deadlocked, it certainly has felt that way in my lifetime, so the question I have is: do these accords and the resultant business and cultural exchange do anything to improve the chances that people in the region will feel any differently about each other? From the talk, it feels as if the accords are about money and business connections, which perhaps is a way to break a deadlock, but unless this also leads to shifting mindsets among the average people what’s the point? It’s unfortunate that none of the questioners asked the critical question of ‘how will this make things better?’ I assume/hope the accords will improve the situation, but they could also be a massive distraction from addressing very deep problems. Criticism aside, I’m encouraged to see someone doing something, and I also respect those who speak up and ask if the Palestinians are not being forgotten.

they may help but u cannot solve a problem until the underlying cause is resolved.
the analogy would be this, u and your neighbour are having a dispute over a border. his trees are encroaching onto your drive damaging your car as u park. he comes around with a cake to give u (the accords) that's great short term u say think makes it more civil for a few days maybe a week..... ur still annoyed he needs to cut his trees back to his own border
the land and home stealing of the Palestinian must stop. the 1969 border is clear and had already been agreed upon once by the UN. Once the offending state pulls its settlement back to the correct borderline (or the agreed alternative by the UN decades ago) then bridge building between the two sides can work long term and be effect. but until Palestine get their recognised border and state uphold, there will always be an underlying and justifiable resentment that can not be simply brushed over by gestures. that's before u even additionally talk about illegal blockades and war crimes... just taking about the base underlying issue

I just say that Jerusalem mainly nor for muslim, christianity and jews only but for all people who want to join in... Those religions come from to the one source... God Allah who always we believe... We can't judge Israel is the worst here too or Palestine truely is bad not not... But waving people who provocate the terrorism is the main evil... I clue to the Hamas that Co-op to the Palestinian citizen especially in Gaza... They are the true terrorism 'Hamas' ... Why i said that because this group claims "they are the true wave who flaging the true Islam but the reality, they are absolutely error... Islam never told like that... They argue that after Islam came to this world, christianity and jews must follow this religion then declare Islam is the best religion then whole religions must follow.... that true mistake... "Islam is fullfil religion not the best", please note it these words... Then we argue jews christianity and Islam are brotherhood... love and equal... About why Israel Occupied many Palestinian teritory, i think it because they defende their people, to make their people save they claimed Palestinian teritory as their own to decrese terrorism like Hamas... I still remember back a day, how Hamas fought with president Yasser Arafat, you know, Palestinian vs Palestinian... Very sad indeed... Hamas is the true terrorism there nor the clean palestinian or Israel who defend their people... Let's fight to clean that radical wave Hamas to make this world better... I support the Palestine as well the clean Israel... Make coperation toward those countries... About jews zionism, i think that personal view... Jews is Moses, christianity is Christ and Islam is Muhammad, God Allah prophets...why we must fight each other ? I'm still watching. 20 minutes in. The first 20 minutes was not good interviewing, to say the least. Where did this Oxford club select the interviewer from? First 20 minutes on part of the interviewer were inhospitable, positively: disrespectful, and ungracious (not human or down-to-earth nor appropriate given the tone of the room and the weighty topic matter). Lets see if he recovers from his own uber-critical social maladaptation.
The Interrogator seemed to take a bad tone early on, unjustifiably. It's a COMMON TROPE (regardless of topic) in late 19th and early 20th century tone - that of the ascendent (and prideful!) detached neutrality as if we do not exist in a shared universe. That of the interviewer, detached to the n-th degree, taking a sharply negative, superior, almost devilish divide-and-conquer tone to everything and everyone (subtle yet present). How ignorant and posing the interviewer is, in my estimation.
A war of the worlds alien arrives from a distant place and looks at humans like they were ants. Well. This is Oxford and the Middle East - I don't think we're so ignorantly alien to the topics that one another hail from. So why the apparent standoffishness and hostility? The entire room does not seem to match the tone nor intent of the interviewer with his one-way questions (I say, include him in the convo and don't leave his context out - he's part of the universal biological human family tree as well, is he not? Maybe a more down-to-earth tone is required here among those interviewed who are more down-to-earth.) Perhaps the Negative (over Substantive) tone was adopted because the underlying topic was supposed to be Palestine and 'NOT' the Abraham Accords, in his estimation? To which I would respond: 'Which came first? Abraham or those opposed to him? And how and why?'
I am a bit new to the game of international discourses, yet it appears I'm not far behind the game.
To belabor my point, I find the interviewer (whatever his title) a tad too critical, too young (yes), too aloof, too detached, too "divide and conquer" in his questioning and tone - rather than simply impartial and human. As if arriving from some parallel negative universe to inspect these aliens, the underlying approach seems to be toward: "What Have You Done? Are You Indeed United? So You Think These Accords Are So Perfectly Foundational? I, The Inquisitor, Am A Better Judge Than All Of You! Now Justify Yourselves!" It seemed to me that this was the obvious undertone of the interviewer - hyperbole added, of course, to flesh it out with embellishment.
As if the interviewer could speak for himself. I wonder what he has to say for himself, to justify his tone. (For it is not truly impartial tone ...or it would not be so stern as if he was hailing from/with the presence of an enormous prideful standoffish negative without there being an obvious negative, at least not in the first 20 minutes. Rather, in the presence of an enormous positive - the interviewer pretends as if it is almost an enormous negative. I would answer: "Hello, There. We Are Human. We Live On Earth. Permanent, Decentralizing, Multilateral, Economic-Political Peace Is Good. The Abraham Accords Are Good. So How Should We Proceed? - Let That Be The Debate.")
I could use other, more succinct, cultural phraseology that the English and the Americans would be very familiar with. My first response was probably in keeping with what the interviewer's tone may sound like in the back room when not trying to appear formal. (I'll just be polite and call him a young novice and a prideful stuntman.)
Perhaps he adopted this tone of unjustified superiority (and divide and conquer questioning) because there was no 'other side' presented in debate form. So the inquisitor decided to adopt some of the tone of that mysteriously unaccountable 'other side'. As if the Abraham Accords are not a good thing to build with and upon, plain for all to see. As if it was not an historical solution to an historic problem. As if we do not occupy a shared universe and a shared human history with the same concerns of peace everywhere - and this being peace it is a manifestly good thing.
Nothing Is Not Superior To Something. So how shall we moderate between somethings? By recognizing a common Universe of meaning - that exists at the start that we are descended from. And to prevent utter rageful madness, this original Something must include the unified Spirit or Metaphysic that we are all descended from almost as if it were our Designer, Creator, and Father who first made us embodied awarenesses, whereby we even know enough logic to speak, or interview, cogently. (See: Intelligent Design critique and The God Hypothesis) Welcome to the Universe that positively exists while containing boundaries and restraints and justice that some call negative rights. We need to begin from the proposition that we are descended in one family tree, Mankind / Humankind and go from there. The Abraham Accords are aptly named: "In thee, all the families of the earth will be blessed." Take that, Satan.

      @Far Da,
I've now watched the entire thing. It was a disgrace on part of the hosts. It was false advertising bait and switch. Only the final 2.5 minutes out of 65 minutes, were on the professed topic used to lure people to this repetitive struggle session interrogation, that proceeded to filibuster its own topic. An enormous positive for world peace, and all that this Oxford prank could manage was an attempt to project pessimism in the cause of something that was already answered for, repeatedly. There were no discussion nor questions about Bahrain and UAE in particular or the welfare of those states - other than as follows:
Those present and allowed to speak (other than the 3 being interrogated) favor putting a terrorist organization, Hamas, in charge of determining ALL international deals that Israel makes in the middle east. The same crowd that contains radicals that (even at the debate) chant 'from the river to the sea' meaning: no Israel. So the only way The State of Israel is to make any Peace Deals is if it FIRST ceases to exist. That is the direct logic being DEPLOYED at this discourse about the Abraham Accords. What a farce.
This was not a debate or conversation about the details, hopes, strategies of the Abraham Accords. It was entirely about Palestine, a land that is divided and hostile and remained out of the Abraham Accords at this present time. So Oxford (having hosted & directed it) is responsible for false advertising. The entire thing was a bait and switch dance, precisely to avoid any honest discourse about the Accords themselves.
The entire event worked to invalidate itself. It did not invalidate itself from the standpoint or side of the 3 guests who were gracious and eloquent enough - but the shallow, unproductive, inhospitable invalidation came from the majority of those uttering their voice at the event who were fully distracted by the Palestinian Question, and seemed to not care at all about the Greater Middle East Question.
Interviewer side: (Only a fit of:) But Palestine, But Palestine, But Palestine, But Palestine... Therefore Abraham Accords are entirely in question. Palestine must come first.
Interviewee side: We are all in agreement, we all support the Abraham Accords, we look forward to working together across all the middle east including Palestine. "We want to create that space. We need to be better at dialogue and diplomacy." True. This was not a dialogue, nor was it a varied debate, nor was it diplomatic. It was 3 gracious and intelligent representative guests trying to discourse with a "But Palestine first!" bulldog.
(Over and over and over again. Now, this convo could have been something: if different questions were posed - and if the interviewees decided to postulate about the shared prosperity that was implied but not deeply explored.)
Representatives from 3 countries in the middle east championing a productive political-economic peace pact between 5 or 6 middle eastern countries, and all the representatives in this Oxford Ivory Tower can seem to muster is: "But Palestine first!" By which they mean TO REFUSE any peace will be achieved. This is a line I've heard for over 30 years championed by the same crowd that offers no lasting and positive solutions that are real-world and lasting. Those who take the approach to the Abraham Accords as I saw in the discourse above are not responsible actors or genuinely humanist thinkers. They are malicious fraudsters who probably believe themselves to be activists.
My verdict: Oxford looked ridiculous. Like it was acting against the interest of the regular people all over the world and the peace of their countries. They did not cover the topic they professed to cover, and they allowed their event to proceed (by not proceeding) the way that it did. I'd be surprised if there is another such "discussion". Because if I were those representatives, I wouldn't bother with Oxford again.
