- Taiji fan (taijishan) makes its debut on the international competition stage! Here is China's Yang Jin performing her first place compulsory taijishan at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championships.
Taijishan will also be an official event at the upcoming 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

Beautiful performance. Why does everyone feel the need to have commentary though? It's literally the most annoying thing about any sport.
If the fan does not open it’s a deduction: are they testing the martial artist or the quality of the fan 🤨
It's considered basic usage/movement of the fan, just like other weapon basics movements (ie stabbing or chopping with swords).
In fan you often transition between it being open and it being closed, and it's important to have proper control there like with any weapon.
