This yacht was built for one man, and his exacting detail and vision of a yacht that he could live on 24/7. He outfitted this 42 metre yacht with his very particular personal preferences and then not long after the yacht was delivered - tragedy...

The spelling in the name is Audace, he was Italian so it is taken from the latin/Roman convention of using a 'V' to stand for 'U' because if you're carving in stone or on a tablet it is a heck of a lot easier to do straight lines! This also explains why we call W "double-you" and not "double-vee".
You are correct. U was introduced to Latin in a hand-written script in the 2nd century. At the time, U and V were the same letter in Latin. Whether you curved the bottom or used a sharp angle was a matter of style. The 2 forms coexisted for more than 1000 years. However, it doesn't make sense in this case because Audace is Italian, not Latin. In Latin, it would be Audacia.
@@blah163 it's apeing the 1920s - 1940s Italian architectural style where the U was always replaced with a V on buildings with carved letters. Nearly all of them had lettering and most survive to the present day.
While i agree V was used for U your reasoning seems lacking. There are lots of curved letters it doesn't seem reasonable to only change the U and none of the other letters. Here are some that come to mind.

At the time of his death, he was living his dreams. Bravo!
A positive thing to take from his sad passing: no regrets. To commission his own bespoke yacht and to live aboard was clearly what he most wanted, and he did it.
No doubt.
He was a man of straightforward tastes, his purposeful liveaboard values practicality and versatility.
You presented a very respectful appreciation of his yachting choice and the man himself.
wow, what a nice vessel. If I could afford it, I would love to spend a few years on sea exploring the world. How sad, the owner wasn't really able to enjoy the life he dreamt of..
But clearly those dreams, too, are real even if only mostly private and internal in the enjoyment.
Nice vessel. Sad the owner could not enjoy it longer. Me personally, I would do the same thing if I had a yacht like that- I’d live on it 24/7 as well
AVDACE was custom built by Cantiere delle Marche in Ancona, Italy. According to the 2022 Explorer Yacht Summit, CdM is the first Explorer Yachts builder in the world by total LOA produced with 800+ meters... Anyway, this is a very cool and unique vessel and very sad story. Thank you eSysman.
CdM will build me my yacht. Eventually.
So often I look at the sort of crass excess of the yachts you talk about and think gosh what bling - but this feels so much like someone’s search for their perfect - I bet the process bought huge satisfaction even if the dream could not be fulfilled
I agree.
Well said and VERY true. This ship appears to have a lot more personality and warmth than ANY of those “bling” yachts out there. Lol, this is easy to say when I’ll never have either kind, and while I’m sure I would appreciate either; this has that “home” feeling to it that I would prefer, and I’m sure anyone would love as well. The fact he doesn’t have the typical helipad on it, (to me) shows his priorities were right! That says “when I’m on it, nothing is ‘helicopter urgent’”. 😊 “Whatever the problem is, it and you, will HAVE to wait until we dock”! Man, I’d so love to live life like that. 👍☮️
What a sad story 😥 - but as always great presentation of the yacht and it's background. Thanks!
What a great Yacht!!! Thanks for showing it off to us!
Despite the tragic aspect of this yacht's story regarding the original owner, I couldn't help smiling at eSysman's comment that this boat "is the perfect size for me, ha ha". Can't find fault with that sentiment. Great content here, great production and great presentation by eSysman, as usual. I never miss a post. Top-shelf channel. Cheers.
Very thoughtful that you skipped the request for likes or subs at the end. Well done....as always.
Well done on the presentation, not an easy one to get right. Nice editing and production too. Great to see the channel coming along leaps and bounds.
Agree - poignant ending - nice 🙂
Yes this is a very sad story. He must have been looking forward to many years exploring the world, poor guy RIP. ANOTHER great episode Sysman, thank you 👍👍
As a man that loves fishing in Alaska this yacht looks like the perfect platform for that purpose. You could launch a large fishing boat and have incredible comfort went back on the yacht. And as expiration yacht it should be perfect for that environment.
So you need Wellington boots, a couple of rods, bait and oh yes, this 26 million dollar boat!!
He also has an appreciation for Aviation.
Best to you Scott Whitmire 🇺🇸
THANKS ESYSMAN , FOR SHARING THIS STORY SAD,BUT TRUE …no one is guaranteed tomorrow 😞💚💚💚
Excellent and thoughtful presentation.
RIP Mr Merloni.
Verry nice guy Andrea. RIP
Audace - Italian for brave, bold, daring, audacious. I assume the "U" was stylized as a "V" as the Roman alphabet did not have different characters for V and U.
Correct
I remember seeing this yacht for sale a couple years ago then it was off the market. Yes it’s a beautiful yacht with a bit of a sad story but he had a vision of what he wanted and he brought it to life it’s unfortunate he wasn’t able to enjoy it more. But who ever buys this yacht I’m sure they will enjoy it.
A sad touching story of someones’ dreams.... we should never stop dreaming. Very nice video. Thank you.
These video's are exactly why I started following eSysman when he only had a couple of 000's subscribers, I love these wandering commentaries. Great stuff.
I remember seeing a yacht that was offloading a Mercedes SLR and a Rolls Royce back in 2005 or 2006 in Monaco. I lived nearby in Beaulieu Sur Mer. I even saw one of Abramavich's yachts that had a very large sail boat on the yacht.'
What a shame. To have an ambition in life and then lose when it is completed. Thank you for another superb report
What a beautiful boat, and so tastefully decorated. The Edmiston listing shows the tender located next to the crane in the bow section, but I'll take your word for it that it transports a Land Rover.
Yes, they moved the tender there as the car has been removed from the yacht.
A beauty on it's own the yacht and what a sad story behind.
Wow..the owmer built his dream explorer and had some time to spend on it. We can only guess he worked his entire life and did not marry and have kids
Hi's yatching passion will be remembered and talked about for a long time
A heart stress test is a must starting at 50.. .just to make sure there arent any hidden blood clots waiting to activate
MY Carinthia VII has also a parking space for a bulletproof bentley on board.
Great video, really enjoying this type of harbor walk/talk videos.
Respectful intro/outro, well done!
Yes! Sad! That's why one should try to live as though each day is your last. Hard to do when you're a working stiff.
What a great design. Obviously this owner gave this a good deal of thought. At least he got to see his dream being built. Sounds like an interesting person. If I were going to own a yacht for any real length of time I think this is the type of yacht I would want
Magnificent Boat. This man knew what he wanted. Just didn’t have the time. So sad he passed.
Thanks for doing a video on this boat. I noticed it in your MYS videos and it was the one vessel that I was most curious about from that series!
Thanks, that was quite a special story. More like that will go down well I hope.
There is a lot of satisfaction in planning and watching the plan come to life.
That is a sad story. Its fairly unusual for someone that young to die from a heart attack. Having said that I had a minor heart attack at 50. The doctor who saw me said he had never seen anyone so young suffering from a heart attack. Now I'm 72 and quite healthy. I would encourage anyone over 50 to get regular cardio treadmill stress tests.
Nice video Sir. Like stories. We all do. Keep the story telling up. First class. PS I was a Nordhavn man and was eyeing up an N62 when I was selling my business. Well that never happened. Long story - and in any case, this would have been about $20M too much but perfect.
I think this vessel will take berth amongst my dream boats. It's an explorer ship with all the needed cranes and space for the items needed to see the world. I'll be sailing her while I daydream of seeing the world. Fantastic vessel.
The best 10 years of my life was living on my boat.... Had a 63' Hatteras.
Having just returned from a funeral myself, enjoy and be grateful for everyday 🙏🏻 Share life with family, good friends, and never forget to tell those who you care about, that you love them .. great tonality E-man !
I’m not into yachts etc but your professionalism, your journalistic excellence make every visit quite rewarding!
Perfect yacht, what else do you need? Got room a car to boot, I'd add an ADV bike for sure.
Made me sad, but this was a well-told story. Good job, thanks... and sniff sniff.
That yacht is perfect. So many are very bling. I like the all business look of an explorer yacht.
This is a sad story. Have to say that you produced this very respectfully for him, and showed an obvious somber tone while highlighting the beauty and quality of the ship, and being able to (tastefully) add some humour to it. That’s a tough set of things to mix into a story, but you most definitely nailed it! Well done.
Have to feel bad for him; that’s a REALLY young age to die, he was probably setting up his retirement to begin soon as he most likely knew he wasn’t handling stress of the business the way his younger self did. We truly DO get a “feeling” after 50 and our limitations tend to become more “in our face”. He was doing all the right things, but didn’t get the chance to put his plan into full action and begin enjoying the second half of his life. It’s a lesson EVERYONE should take from this…. how quickly and without warning your life can drastically change, or in this case…end. You need to really prioritize the truly important things, when you do, most would be amazed at how unimportant the things you thought were ultra important become. If this man could go back in time, I’d bet he would have been retired in his late 40’s and would have lived another 30+ years actually ENJOYING his life. In other words…. he would be actually living, not spending his time “working JUST to keep working”! If I had known then what I know now…. oh man, I would have done ALL OF IT differently, and no doubt I’d be much happier. Anyone under 50….. go talk to someone over 55….over 65…75 - ask them what they’d do differently; and then…. LISTEN to that advice. Who wants to die, alone, just as your dream yacht is launched?? Ugh. 🙁
Again… great job on this video, you handled it with grace & class. 😃👍☮️
Nice story, and very sad as well. I’ll bet he was one of the nice ones. 🇬🇧
Thank you for the story!
Sad that it was a tragic one, but very interesting to hear.
What a wonderful/sad story. I live full time aboard a 33ft pacemaker sport fisherman (built in 1979) and can only imagine how marvelous it would be to have such a place to live. I'm on the east coast of U.S. so 12 months aboard can be a challenge. Beautiful vessel. Someone will be delighted when they purchase this. (If they need a crewman, let me know!)
Very sad story. Great respectful presentation. Well done.
Thank you for honouring this man ,
This explorer yacht tells me a lot about the man .
I'm glad you injected some humanity into the usual CZcams Superyacht stories. I enjoyed the story, sad as it was. Thanks.
I hope that someone else, perhaps family, can enjoy and make wonderful memories. That would be a nice legacy for this wonderful yacht.
Ngl, that definitely sounds like living the dream. If I was going to custom build a live aboard yacht it would probably come out pretty similar, but with more car space cause I would be bereft leaving any of my babies behind! On the other hand, taking my vintage Lancia anywhere near saltwater would be a death sentence 😥
Not to sure about the extra deck on the vessel! I think that is why he had an extra 4 metres added?
A good story with this video, if not sad. Hopefully he has extended family that will benefit from the sale. Love the Port Authority building, just in front of the Yacht. When you pan away 8.40, the building must command a great view and very simple in design.
A full time live-aboard? As a full time live-aboard myself, I must admit that my 30 year old 51’ Kha Shing M/V with a 1 ton dinghy crane just shrank a few inches while watching this. 😂 Unfortunate ending to the story, sounds like he was an interesting chap of sorts. I wouldn’t trade the blessed joy of being a father for any super yacht myself. My young daughter thinks our old boat is a super-yacht, hopefully she doesn’t see one any time soon! To each their own. The man obviously had great ambition for what he found joy in. RIP
Respectful presentation. Just goes to show, life can be short and you can’t take it with you.
Great story, and such a sad end.
I hope he really enjoyed the ship before his passing and what a stunning ship it is would love to see an inside tour one day
Thanks for showing this ......😍 Such a beautiful yacht
As she's for sale, they *might* give you permission to go onboard and do a video tour.
I'd definitely watch that video!
I think this shows your program cares about people not just Yachts . I figured that out very early. Keep up the great work
Another super interesting video....I keep coming back to your channel for alot of reasons but I really appreciate you stick to the storyline and don't get caught up in sharing opinions about the ships or their owners or the design. So many people think today that opinions are important, they are not. But, I keep coming back for the storylines...Thanks E-Man!
THIS is the yacht I would have if I was in the market if I won the lottery. It is a perfect size for a live on board and quite beautiful in appearance.
Sad to hear he is no longer with us.
CDM build some very impressive expedition yachts and this yacht is no exception, it certainly lives up to it's name. In Latin AVDACE is pronounced AUDACE as Latin only had 23 letters, in English it means Boldly.
it is so nice tha you put the stories of yachts and their owners too
26, ooo, ooo ? Buy it! You deserve it...imagine how much fun that would be !
He went out at the top, doing what he loved. We should all be so lucky.
Very nice presentation of a sad story.
Still young too.
Looks to be a very strait forward functional vessel, not over the top in style that will be outdated by 2025. Nice presentation.
Wow 3 year older than me .what a beautiful thing to leave behind.
Tragic story. A beautiful yacht. Would like you to take a tour inside it if possible
What a sad outcome, but he clearly enjoyed the last years of his life living the dream. Still too young, but as they say, that's life, I guess. My uncle died at 53, he never got to live his dream, so I guess this guy at least did that.
Unusual looking. Like a hybrid of design.
Very interesting story and yacht!
I can only imagine his vision of waking up in the antarctic with an espresso watching icebergs drift past and planning the days activities . I would have enjoyed learning more about the features included in making this an explorer, I imagine it would be a little more uncomfortable doing long passages in unfavorable conditions having your berth that high up on a vessel of that size?
The very high front and low tail is an explorer and "working" style boat.
That is a good looking boat!
Sad to hear about the owner…
I like that it's a 'Super Trawler' look, which seems a more practical use of space that the super-sleek low-slung look of many yachts. To me, it's a more appealing design.
Apologies if this has already been said below but I think you will find Audace better translates as Daring and better sums up the man who did exactly what I would have done with similar means.
Never know when our end comes, some too soon. Great yacht, needs a transom drive on off fold down?
Definitely sad I'm almost 55 . It's the part of life you start paying attention your Freinds and others you think are woundful with more love . When one goes your sad and wonder if your next. His woundful Yacht could take up were the Calypso left off . I grew up watching Custo and his Sons and wonderful crew. His boat was a WWII mine sweeper he put to peicful use. 😁 science and Education. He Impressed lot's of us as children to be in aw of and learn about Nature that most had never seen 😁
I like this yacht a lot. Very industrial lines. 😊👍😘
So sad.incredible yacht/home !!
Nice looking, I am going to go and check my money tree, it may need a little more attention.
Nice to see Kingdom 5KR in the background there as well
There is another yacht that has a car on it, even an amphibious car. That is Picchiotti‘s Exuma.
Hopefully he didn't suffer.
He seemed to prepare to enjoy his life to the fullest. That in itself was probably joy for him.
No one knows what life holds; take advantage of it while you can. Two heart stents at 58 and this is my mindset.
it is very sad that he did not get to enjoy it more, but then! He did have a year on board it! So Well done to him and now R.I.P 😥
I can imagine that yacht nosing around far flung hideaways with a young and adventurous owner and crew doing more than posting selfies to Instagram
In roman times they used the v as an u... thats why it's written like that... great vids....love it
Really nice and I agree perfect size for living
It's sad to hear about a super yacht owner who actually intended to live aboard dying so soon after delivery.
My dad died of heart disease at 52. So, it does happen.
26 million for a boat - - no money for a cardiologist ??
@@peterdarr383 - well, I think they call heart disease a silent killer because you don't have symptoms that encourage you to seek any kind of testing. In my dad's case, he even did a lot of walking and apparently didn't have any symptoms. In your 50s, you probably don't think you're on deaths doorstep for something that isn't apparent. I can only imagine it's worse for super wealthy who probably think they're invincible because of the make believe world they live in.
Well done, love this informative type of vid, nix the death. Though it was handled well. A friend of mine works down in Miami doing custom paint work in Power Boat Alley for Apache. I've ridden in several and understand the desire for the looks on these types of power boats. But I'd rather have something like this, (explorer), then the standard fare. Either more room on the same size or the same on something smaller. Seriously, unless it's at a show how many people actually get to see them.
That's my style of yacht if I were ever to afford such a vessel.
That is so very very SAD.....l would to have this boat for my self....Thanks again my friend....Bye
Regarding cars on boats, does anyone remember 'Moonmaiden II' from about '98 - 2000 ?
She had a mini Moke + crane on the aft deck.
The car had a Monaco reg plate.
We had a blast on that boat !
What a very, very interesting boat. And inspiring too.
Without a doubt my favorite yacht you’ve ever featured. Should you get a chance to do a deep dive on this one, please do.
I’m sure many of your viewers would enjoy seeing the small details of a full-time floating residence: crew, power, food prep, how the car works, etc, etc.
Regards,
Marky
At least he did it his own way. Too many people just go with standard designs,, choose size by what their budget is, and do little more than a bit of floorplan modification, maybe toy selection, and a lot of interior decorating. It will find a buyer. Though if it were me buying it, I'd want to see how it handles in heavy seas, it looks pretty susceptible to trouble on the roll axis.
Thats tragic for a private modest guy whom has done well for himself to pass away at a young age.
Unlike the crassness of Putrid's thieving Orc's
Obviously agreed as to totally bandit system of 'wealth distribution' in Russia, but as for Mr Merloni - it's very hard not to 'do well for yourself' when you are born into a family which controls a business empire.
@@maciejguzek3442 Ahh I didn't look into him,, family or the wealth. Albeit born into wealth he didn't appear to flout it with his privacy wanting to live on his yacht unlike the orc's, i find this sad
Great presentation. Sad story.
