FSD Beta 11.4.1 - Map based parking lots

  • FSD 11.4.1 appears to be using maps to render parking lots on the FSD visualizations. This is likely a hint that we are close to actually spart summon, reverse summon, and parking lot navigation where it will be able to navigate to a storefront.

    Very interesting. You're the first person I've seen to point this out and I think you might be onto something. But are you sure this didn't exist with 11.3?

      I'm not positive it wasn't in 11.3, but I don't think it was.

    I've watched hundreds of FSD videos over he ;last couple of years and this feature is certainly new-ish, probably last couple of versions at least. Using a combination of map data and AI filling in the gaps, which was spoken about at AI day. Good work though, as I've not seen anyone specifically pointing this out,

    Last we know from AI day, FSD predicts lane connectivity conditioned on map data, but not the birds-eye view. I guess we'll see in the release notes if they've changed that but I think what we're seeing here could just be Tesla adding way more training data for parking lots. We already know it's extremely good at predicting unseen structure (super human even) from context, e.g. the curve around the drive through. For example it regularly "sees" the back of roundabouts with obstructions in the middle even if they are unmapped. If you could find a newly constructed parking lot that's not on any map, what's actually going on should be made pretty obvious.

    Really cool! Probably a combination of camera/mapping data from the Tesla fleet, navigation/satellite maps and the current car vision. In any case, this is a big step to get to 100% FSD for an entire trip.
