Fingers crossed for the Hanasaki Line (Nemuro Main Line), Semmo Main Line and Soya Main Line! I’ve seen pictures and videos on these lines and I would love to travel them, especially when I heard JR could be closing them all. Hopefully with this new investment to make tourist trains, JR Hokkaido can make a comeback and these lines could be saved. For a viable option, I would also go for refurbishment, especially those older Kiha 40s and those stainless-steel bodied ones operating the Soya and Senmo Main Line. Both are being replaced by the H100 Decmoi believe, they are tough as nails for Hokkaido’s bitter cold and they’ve been going strong for more than 30 years, so I’m sure they can go another 10 years. So, absolutely looking forward to see if this can save them, a Hokkaido railway trip is first on my post-COVID travels. ありがとうございます Takeshi-san, can’t wait for the next JR Hokkaido update! Japan Rail fans out there, do subscribe to this channel, it’s my one-stop platform for all things Japanese trains!

Dam to bad they can not get them on the rails in time for the full 2022 Winter season. Would be great to ride them next February.
