  • I found that a pare of Dental Magnifier Glasses or Dentists Surgical Loupes was a fantastic way to get an up close look at the line i'm following when making cuts with my bandsaw. In this video I talk about why you need them and then show the difference they make in viewing the work on the bandsaw.

I asked my dentist a few years ago about binoculars for working on pinball machines she said I needed a license to buy them, thank you for your help.

I just started using cheaters for reading, but I haven't used them in the shop yet. I am definitely going to give these a try given the longer focal length. This seems like an excellent idea!

So I too have only just started needing cheaters for reading but I also love them in the shop when working on things. The dental glasses are better for running equipment where I am stationary and a consistent distance from what I'm working on, but cheaters are good for everything else.

Hi been a while since I tuned in and so glad I did. Great suggestion since I’m 78 hrs. Old with only one eye.

Great idea. I learned from a guy using a scroll saw that people, like me then, try to push the blade sideways to make a small correction in a curve. Instead, you steer the work so the blade is cutting straight towards you, not twisting as much or being force sideways.

there is for sure technique in using a strait blade to make a rounded cut

Oh, I need these! I have the same issue with my old General band saw. Nothing worse than an aluminum chip in the eye.

They are fantastic and can be used for way more than just the bandsaw.

I would think they would work well. To me a little bit to get them adjusted properly but after that I have been nothing but happy with them.

The blade guide on the left is 1/4" from touching the blade! You were complaining that the small blade will flex when cutting a curve, but you might want to tune up those blade guides. The blade also does not seem centered between the guides. You mast may be crooked. (never a good thing LOL). My DoAll saw cuts radii very easily. ---Doozer

Oh yes, esp. for old techie, that really helps a lot. But those China made Dental Glasses are using poor quality rubber temper, after one or two years, it get sticky and becoming a bit of annoying.

good to know. I have had mine a little over a year and so far have not had that issue but I also live in the frozen north and my shop stays fairly cool so maybe it's a temperature thing? Also could have been a bad batch on yours. I guess time will tell. Either way even more expensive ones are likely Chinese made so its more likely about price/quality and has little to do with where they are made.
