    Tangling Shadows was commissioned by oboist Amy Anderson and percussionist Lisa Rogers, both professors in the School of Music at Texas Tech University. The piece was premiered on November 8, 2006 at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin, Texas. The 8-minute work is based upon the Pablo Neruda poem, "Thinking, Tangling Shadows." Fragments of the text may be found throughout the score for reference.

    Oboe (or Soprano Saxophone)
    Vibraphone (3-octave)

    This is such a beautiful piece! I feel like maybe having a narrator read those bits of the poem while the duetists play would give this piece just a bit more feeling and power. The duetists did such an incredible job that it really doesn't even take away from them that they didn't have it, it felt just as real and powerful
