  • We’d like to introduce you to the greatest chemists on Earth, but we can’t. They are invisible. Microbes are capable of harvesting energy from any chemical reaction and thrive. There are about a million microbes per milliliter of water throughout our Ocean, so if we really want to understand how our planet functions, we study microbes.
During the #OxygenMinimumMicrobes expedition, International scientists have been testing new underwater laboratories for studying microbes in situ in an oxygen minimum zone off the coast of Chile. Their work will transform our ability to study these naturally occurring regions in the Ocean and understand how OMZs might grow in response to climate change. Hand-waving. Not a single result in this video. Couldn't you at least give us some hint of what you have learned so far (probably at cost to the public of around $1M). Research cruises are not cheap.
