    I wished I found these series prior to starting my project. This is by far the most comprehensive and most practical tutorial I have seen. Thank you!

    This gets me really excited and helpful! What do you recommend when buying a revit 2018 program? Should I get a monthly fee or own the program?

    • @brianalbrecht7859
      @brianalbrecht7859  Před 5 lety +2

      I would say it depends on your situation. If you work with lots of consultants, engineers, and others who are importing their models into your base model then I would definitely go with the monthly subscription so you get the new version each time it comes out and you'll be up to date with your working partners. If it is just you working on the models and you aren't bringing in a bunch of outside stuff, then I would just buy it and get the new version every other year. They don't change a ton between one version and the next so buying it every other year would save you some money compared to the monthly subscription while also keeping you fairly current on the versions. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the tutorial, my dude. Quick question, should I put down the floor before throwing up walls, or throw up the walls then lay out the floor?

    • @brianalbrecht7859
      @brianalbrecht7859  Před 5 lety +2

      I would do the walls, then the floor. The only reason I say that is because you'll want your floor to extend into your walls to achieve the correct construction detail and that's going to be harder to do if you do it floor then walls.
      Glad they've been of some help!

    Hi Brian. Thank you for the tutorial, I'm getting a lot out of it. Can you please tell me exactly what you did at 47:36 - 47:41? Also, I was not able to bring up BOTH the stone wall and the stucco wall for alignment on the floor plan even with zooming in and a fine detail. However, I created sections and I was able to make it happen that way. I am using 2019. Could that be a difference between '18 and '19? If not, what am I doing wrong? Do I need to adjust a setting or something?

    • @brianalbrecht7859
      @brianalbrecht7859  Před 5 lety

      You can certainly do it in section rather than plan. If hitting tab when hovered over the edge where both walls should reside doesn’t bring up both, it may be a view range issue, or you’ll just need to do exactly what you did.
      As for the section you referenced. I basically did nothing there. What I was looking to do is to find a stone cap for my stone wall that I could bring in. However, Revit didn’t have anything that looked good to me in their library so I cancelled out of that and made my own. What you were watching is me going into the profiles library and looking at what Revit had to offer, which, as I mentioned, wasn’t much in terms of what I was looking for.
      Hopefully that all makes some sense!

    hard to follow cause of audio and i had to pause, rewind, then zoom in to find out what the dimensions were. also its kinda confusing how you kept moving stuff around. if these were improved on it would be easier for beginners but other than that pretty good layout and design

    • @brianalbrecht7859
      @brianalbrecht7859  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate it. I actually increased my screen resolution on all my 2019 videos for that very reason with the dimensions so hopefully those are easier to deal with in the future. I'll definitely keep the moving stuff around thing in mind as I keep going. I plan on doing another series like this sometime in the future and hopefully a lot better than this. This was kind of my first foray into doing something like this so obviously it has some pitfalls. Appreciate the feedback!

      @@brianalbrecht7859 I love this tutorial but it is hard to see the short cuts you use to modify. for instance, you highlight a line and match the length of the joining line to meet it but I can't see how. I've rewound and played it numerous times now and still can't see. I appreciate you taking the time to share and apart from that it's fantastic.

      Yeah, sorry about that. These were some of my first tutorials and I just had a cheap mic with a junk setup. I've gotten a better mic since but unfortunately the space I record in is a bit echo-y and to get rid of the echo is like a 30 minute setup so it definitely makes things a tad difficult. Sorry you weren't able to finish!

      He explains it very thoroughly and doesn't even move that fast. Just rewind real quick if you don't see something. I mean he's making hour long videos for us, are you really going to complain he needs to spend a bunch of time on every tool and navigation?
