    I have to say this is one of the most bizarre episodes I've watched! Is that Jodi chick for real? She's either high all the time or a few cards short of a deck! Shes on another planet! She's playing with other people's money like it's a game! I literally had to fast forward when she came on! Those poor, poor dogs and anyone who has him as a fireman! 😳

      This film was made in 2007. Since then electrical laws have been tightened and they would need a certificate for the electrics and gas before the house can be sold. It is very dangerous what they did, I agree.

      @karent-s7639 Před 2 lety +3

      Well reality did hit in the shape of the property market crash that shortly followed. Matt talked about staying in the house for a couple of years and then selling for the same profit they'd have received in 2007. In fact they would have had to stick around to at least 2013, by which time the house would have needed sprucing up again big-time before being put on the market.

And they actually paid this couple for this so called 'care'? Can't have empathy about this couple no matter the outcome of the show. First episode I have actively disliked.

    Matt and Jody -- how completely annoying and frustrating! First Sarah has to cajole, threaten and babysit them into getting up and growing up enough to do the work, then they "decide" not to sell. Jody knew all along they were going to stay -- note the way she said "we use" the middle room at 24:58. And man are they wrong that "the money will always be in the house"! In less than a year the market would crash.

A bit like when an actor on stage gives a muttered remark to the audience that we're supposed to hear but the other characters on stage aren't. The suspension of disbelief required for the technique is a bit strange in video, though.

Anyway, Gertrude Stein’s house !!!!!! Midnight In Paris! That’s the movie! (does this mean I just time traveled myself?!? Ooooooohoohooooo) Ya, so... where was I..... ya, she had nooks all through her place where probably 30 2-person conversations could have taken place all without clutter. I have questions. How is it possible that these people have no clue - like 30.000 pounds off - how much money they spent?
    38:45 Why have a wonking great radiator against the only wall in the room where you can put a sofa and see the fireplace and not block the glass doors (in a country where people seem to be bound by law to shove furniture against walls)? Why put a LEATHER sofa smack in front of a huge radiator, blocking the heat and guaranteeing that the leather will be dried out?
    OK, OK, it's only for show. But really - that chrome hairdryer light fixture on the wall next to the glass doors to the garden: Why?
    And then there's that long black counter in the kitchen backed by a vast expanse of flat white wall. No upper units, no open shelves... I guess the idea is that people will come in and add some personality to it.

      @@happydays1336 ... everything increases the chance of divorce.
      I ABSOLUTELY believe in marriage, in commitment ... but people who just stay together because it's too much hassle to jump through all the legal hoops of undoing things (when they don't like each other but stay together out of laziness), I don't believe that is the answer either. I don't believe there is a recipe/formula for staying together... it's as complex as our society has become. I wish people would be more conscious about having children when they are not going to stay together. Actually, I wish people would simply become more conscious.
