Lima beans under attack from spider mites recruit predatory mites to come and rescue them! How cool is that?!

Pretty amazing to see how even plants have ways to handle stress even though they lack any neural and endocrinal system developed in animals for handling psychosomatic responses .Nice indeed :)

I've never used pesticides for botany but a foliar spray of humic acid, lots of water nd an introduction to a short stint in highly humid environment, and the the spider mites typically die off very quickly, but I'm absolutely growing Lima beans now too! Thank you so much! I'll let you know how it works someday!

Do you know of any good primary research papers for this topic that have been published in 2015 or after? My senior seminar presentation requires 4 papers from 2015 or later but all the good ones seem to be pre-2015 (like the ones you sited) :/

Hi Alex, Two yrs ago in Ca @ 1800’ I threw out randomly about 50 canabis seeds from plants that I grew previous season. The area is in a grove of scrub oak Manzanita removed and had not been touched since 1860’s +-. One of maybe 4 plants grew to about 1’ tall, had 4 short branches that had female buds and at end of same branch had male flowers that did produce pollen. I saved it. Want a pic or a plant ?

My poor office plant has had a life of nothing but stress. They turn down the heat in the office over the weekend, so it basically dies weekly ...and then there's long weekends. I really should put it out of its misery, but the only care I have to give it is to put water in the cup next to the pot (which keeps the soil damp via capillary feed through a paper towel), so I suppose I'll let it continue its struggle.

My favorit is those mimosa plants that actually can move and avoid stress in that way. I am not 100% sure but it is posible you could block their movement with medicine blocking ion channels.

Alex, I'm close to finishing the whole series of Orphan Black. What I find most interesting about that show is the science stuff, especially genetics. I'm wondering how much of that is true or false. For example, do scientists really use a software program to analyze a DNA sequence on a computer screen? And how realistic is human cloning? I don't know how much time and effort it would take to make a video about that but would you consider it? In short, what I always find interesting is movie science vs. real science.
