I needed to soundproof my massage therapy studio so I contacted a company in Erie, PA to purchase their wall foam. But the sales person gave me a money saving tip that I've used for 20 years. He said to look at the opening around your door when it's closed; if you see light, then sound can come in also. Place weatherstripping and a door sweep and you're good to go. Really deadens the sound.
Thanks for the heads up! I was looking for a solution that was cheap and thought about hanging moving blankets, but those can be pricey too
GLENN IN LOUISIANA, AGAIN CHUCK: I literally cried when I saw this wonderful video of you long deserved studio. Weird seeing you rip out the things i watched you install over the years. From day one, you have been my teacher. I went from learning what a Princeton Dagger could do, to how to use Golden Open, to painting complex landscapes, all with two teachers: My mom when I was a kid, and you since I was 65. I’m 77 now, my last painting sold for 3K. I don’t make that regularly but it happened. I love painting and acrylics is what I staid with due to air quality in my stuffy studio. You have motivated me to renovate but I have to go slow, getting old. IT IS TRUE THAT YOU ALONE MOVED ME FROM AN INVALID UNABLE TO DO MUCH INTO A FULL FUNCTIONING PAINTER. I will have a website in this year and will show you. I praise you for such dedicated work, such craftsmanship and skill in building. I love the easel, the palette desk, and the long table. I see you working solitarily as always, my monk friend, my mentor, my friend, if I may call you a friend! God bless you! I have much more to say but enough for now. Hello Chuck. You went to great lengths to make your room cater to your needs and you did an amazing job. Clean, tidy, and structured. I hope it helps you to enjoy it more. I transformed my 2nd bedroom into a bedroom/study. I still have some shelving to put on the walls. So I know how important it is to feel content and inspired. It's amazing how changing your environment changes you. Great job. ❤

I’m in this exact stage of upgrading the studio. I felt extremely relatable to the first 2 minutes lol. Was hard to let go of all my diaper and Amazon cardboard box storage containers.

CHuck I have a suggestion for your little storage box. Instead of wire try 3/16" or 1/4" dowels. Im worried the wire might damage your painting. The studio looks amazing very Zen.

I'd never heard of using gray/green for a studio before (that could make an interesting video), but I love the idea! Also, the use of the crate for a paint rack is genius!

Well done! It's beautiful, dramatic and functional. I too have an entire room dedicated to my art studio, but no skills to re-build it on my own. But I'm not unhappy with what I have. I just need to work a bit more on cleaning out stuff I don't use anymore (I'm a crafter as well). Your new studio has inspired me to work in mine today!! What I need is a spot for photography - a light box, etc.
