TWIN girls Joy and Joyce Magsino are craniopagus conjoined twins from the Philippines - meaning they were born with their skulls fused together. At birth, the doctors gave the twins a 10-year life expectancy, but the now 13 year olds are thriving against the odds. Separating Joy and Joyce is a possibility, but an incredibly risky operation that would cost the family $75,000. Their mother Jhomarie has left the country to work abroad, in an attempt to be able to save enough money to afford the operation. She told Truly: "When they were younger they were so difficult to look after, unlike today, they can look after themselves - now they can shower, feed themselves and also use TikTok." The twins love to record videos for social media, and have been slowly seeing their followers increase. "We would like to be famous on social media someday so that we can save up some money for our operation," Joy said.

It is going to depend on a lot of things. About 15 years ago there were Iranian twins conjoined at the head. They got a lot of publicity. They were told by a German doctor there was a large vein that they shared. It was too risky to separate. They could bleed to death. They didn't listen. I believe their surgery was in the USA. The whole world was hoping and praying for them. The German doctor was right. They did not survive.
Many tests will have to be done on these twins to find out if it is safe.

A heart transplant you put in a new functioning heart. If you separate the girls, they may be missing parts of their brain or nervous system afterward depending on how they are conjoined.

The machines, the doctors and the bills of electricity and everything else need to be payed for. So surely the doctors could be so nice to operate without payment but this won't change much of the costs on total. So for your wishes there would need to be another solution like taking the money of rich people or anything like that

I agree with you! But the problem is not about the doctor's wages. Let's say all the surgeons and nurses needed for this operation decide to do it for free: the real cost would be all the material needed for the surgery. A surgery like this would take over 10h probably even 20h, so that means : energy cost , tools, oxygen machines, sterilization machines, heart rate machine, air sterilization machine, gloves and masks that need to be changed frequently and the list goes on and on...

*And for so many times we complain so much about life, we have everything, sometimes we complain about something small, sometimes we look "normal" (so to speak, no offense to anyone) and still complain. Then we see real stories of other people, going through worse situations, even with so little resources, but still being happy. May this family get the help they so desperately want.* 🙏💕
