Get a 1981 grill, I had a Malibu since I was 15, had it for 29 years now, dig a big hole when I die and put me in the drivers seat, I pulled my power out and put a 300 horse engine back in, I'm not beating on it anymore

Olds Pwr You are correct it was designated A for intermediate size.
G "bodied" cars did start in 78.
In 82 the intermediate A designation went to the front drive cars.

Love the car your setup is very nice l have a 1984 Monte Carlo SS with a LS2 crate engine with CNC ported and milled LS3 heads that l bought in 2008 from SDPC parts center with a built 700r4 transmission with a 3000rpm lockup stall converter it has a GM single plane intake manifold and a holley HP 850 carberator with a 1 7/8 headers and 3 inch exhaust and l also have a Buick GN 8.5 rearend with 4.10 gears your setup is simular it will be fast reliable dependable and last a long time if you maintain it it revs to 7200rpm very fast to the rev limiter with good tires and a setup suspension it should run in between high 10.80s to 11.30s and 11.50s easy on premium pump gas it's enough to embarrass most new muscle and super cars my car has moroso drag springs all around with rear lift bars so stock type suspension it hooks hard with 275/60 15s Mickey Thompson ET street R drag radials and it goes straight it's best quarter mile time is 10.87 at 122mph all motor it runs low 11s all day and if you had the money and time it could go even faster with this setup it has made 15 passes with the slowest being 11.60 my engine makes really good power from 3000rpm to 7200rpm loves to be above 5000rpm it runs smooth as could be to 7200rpm no shaking or vibrations and has been doing so since 2008 love your car and setup good luck with it its got to be streetable and fun to drive enjoy G-bodies rule
