What was that going on with Kili and Tauriel? Gandalf has a good point, to what he says to Thranduil.
I hate that so much of the backstory on Thranduil’s wife, ultimately got cut. I think it would have clarified matters for a lot of the viewers. It wasn’t book canon, but it fit logically.
