I love the villain vs villain trope. We always see the good guys trying to avoid conflicts or risking themselves to help others. But here, we see two ruthless leaders ready for blood and casually sending their pawns to their deaths.
Only a true villain could name their son Scrotus.
Yeah, really underused movie trope, wish we had more. It’s like seeing two sharks trying to size each other up before all hell breaks loose.
@@jjones9822 Exactly 😂
Its like Stalim Vs Hitler. One of them has to die.
Dementus didn't let Furiosa just die.

Yeah, but why are there no spiders anywhere? Weird. There should be at least 337 for one human.

most of the warboys are still very young. this is probably the early days after immortan joe came up with the cult of v8. very nice detail

They way they play Dementus here is great. Confidence vs competence. Also all the hooks being used as both weapons and looting... this movie was so great
Exactly my mindset watching this movie ...
Immortan Joe is actually a brilliant leader and organizer. The system and alliances he has going are actually impressive. To me Furiosa and Mad Max fall into the category of chaos. They are not heroes. The audience perceive them as heroes or anti-heroes but they aren't. People like Imortan Joe can bring mankind back not Mad max or Dementus. Dementus is just a mad dog marauder on the prowl on the search of abundance he didn't create.
@@TemplarX2 Joe's a fascist for sure - he sexually enslaves women as breeders and milkers, creates mindless drones to commit suicide on a whim, he's somehow both wasteful and stingy with how he doles out water to the people in deep poverty below. I think Furiosa's a hero - especially in Fury Road. That whole group from Max to Nux to the women from the green place and the runaway brides themselves work together to overthrow him. And those women who were being milked like cattle - the first thing they do is share water with the people below.
I feel as if this story led to a bigger one where people just needed a sign of hope to take action themselves. I likened Fury Road to the scene in GOT where Dany frees the slaves. It will be messy on the back end, but in that moment she was a total hero
@@TemplarX2 good comment mate.
@@TemplarX2 Good observation but it still doesn't justify him wasting crap ton of water in fury road. He could have built a proper water distribution system (which furiosa did) instead of spilling all the water on the ground which was enough for the wretched, wasting it.
george miller was just passing by the Australian parliament during coalition talks and simply worked it in
As an Australian I will concur. I was there. I was the war boy they almost picked
This really shows the level gap between dementus and immortan. Dementus confidently came in without a solid plan and thought he could take down the whole citadel. Boy oh boy he was wrong and many of his men died because of his mistake, immortan joe really stomped his armies like ants
he never met an organized force before
I still can't believe that's Chris Hemsworth. I love what they did to his character.
Agreed. Easy to say Chris had a LOT of fun playing Dementus.
Every Mad Max villain knows how to use microphone.
😂😂😂 I never thought of it like that but this is true
Lmao how did I not notice in theatres how flabby Rictus’ actor became. He was like yeah I’ll reprise the role but I am *not* doing another cycle.
He was 15 years younger so.. puppy fat?
@@TtotheCizzel Wow its been 15 years already????
@TtotheCizzel 10 years at most. Fury road was released in 2015, so probably filmed in 14....
@@alexpereira6528no, homie can't count
@alexpereira6528 I would say 12-14 years give or take depending on if you take into account when actors were cast or when filming began. Which was 2012 when filming for Fury Road took place

Mad max : dementus
@@avay8726 Mad Max: ME
Making secondary characters the main focus becomes a tradition in Mad Max movies
The character was featured in the Mad max game Warner brothers made and in there is a wasteland mission where this women called Hope sends you to find a vehicle of a old biker warlord she use to ride with called "Dr Dementus" and when you go to his tomb grave and look on the wall you find drawing of his biker gang raiding Gastown and the 40 day wasteland war its like a spoiler to furiosa-
This is what Election Debates Hall looks like in Australia
Strewth!
i'm confused, is Dementus saving Furiosa because he "cares" about her, or, does he really like blood sausages?
He raised her as a daughter, likely to take over his legacy. Plus the whole "pure child" thing is extra precious so he clearly sees her as an investment. Later on he's right because in trading he cashes her in as part of negotiations to get gas town.
@@tanadarko6991 dementus is opportunistic. i think, in his own twisted mind, he cares about her.
He's hoping that she'll still lead them to The Green Place eventually.
Dementus had a daughter who was killed. Throughout the whole film there are moments where Dementus is seriously struggling not only with the loss of his family but also the new status quo of this world.
I think Furiosa simply represents everything he lost.
I thought he kept her around as weird fucked up way to cope with the loss of his family, even if it was only subconsciously. Like he obviously didn’t treat her like a real daughter but it was clear that Furiosa reminded him of her somewhat.
He also seemed genuinely hurt by her “choice” to stay with Joe at the citadel when he snatched the teddy bear he gave Furiosa back as if he were an immature child.
Like he was using Furiosa to fill a void inside him that could never be replicated again by anyone other then his real daughter, but he kept Furiosa around just to even feel a fragment of that “stability” from his old life, when it was just him and his family.
The best scene in the movie. I like how they make us side with Immortan and the warboys.
Before this, it seemed as though Dementus was a big fish in a small pond.
Now though; He’s a small fish in a big pond, and there’s blood in the water.
And so comes the cold calculating shark of this ocean of sand:
IMMORTAN.
It really starts dementus just how small a fish he is after he manages to conqueror gas town only to completely run it into the ground from sheer mismanagement.
He's definitely the kind of leader that thrives in conflict when there's a war effort to lead and challenges to overcome. But when it's finally his turn to manage an organized fortress settlement like immortan joe and the citadel, the dude just really sucks at it.
I like how in the post apocalyptic world, everyone takes a moment to introduce themselves and their friends.
Idk why but the way the warboy spayed his mouth then walk like he’s about to brawl looks rlly badass
George Miller is credited with creating two of the greatest action movies of all time, and he's 79 years old! Crazy talent.
Scabrous Scrotus and his Apostles of Awful!
He isn’t like his gaming counterpart, but it was nice to see him in the movie.
I haven't played it but the character art for the game seemed a lot more generic wastelander. I'm glad they made him more unique in this
@@Sagittarian1202 In the Mad Max video game Scrotus is more like Ricktus, he's huge but has to wear an oxygen bottle all the time, but he's definitely smarter and crueler than Rictus. I get the feeling Immortan Joe keeps Rictus close at hand because he's not good for much else than being a bodyguard. In the game Scrotus is the general overlord of gastown, attacking all the factions not allied with Joe and wiping out all resistance.
Also the Mad max game is kinda like a spoiler for furiosa cuz it shows the biker warlord dementus already but it’s not canon
Blame WB/Avalanche for that. I love the game, but they just took Miller's notebooks and cobbled their own story up from it. So a lot of things are from like concept designs and what not.
@@meanmichael6348 Yes. It's canon. George Miller himself said so.
Dementus, who is a man, attacks the citadel
Albeit foolishly and lost a chunk of his men but I digress.
How exactly did they expect to get them from the walls? I mean, I guess he tried to get the people to rise up, but I’m pretty sure everybody up top is down for Immortan joe
They didn't know about the Citadel, Immortan Joe or his kamakrazee war boys. He probably thought he could intimidate and get some to turn like he had in past encounters, only to fail miserably.
@@CliffordBreeden oh yeah, that makes sense
@@CliffordBreeden Why didn't they know about the Citadel? No scouting party of reconnaissance? When they attacked the oil city they scouted it from a distance.
@@ceesmithIt’s probable that they scouted ahead precisely because of what happened at the Citadel. I think they probably got complacent after while and the Citadel was a wake up call.
@@carlosrrullanlind1067 ah ok I haven't seen the film and thought the oil city was before the citadel.
2:58 the guy holding the War Boy in the background keeps looking at him like 'are these pale dudes for serious???'
Scrotus & Rectus should have done a karoke duet on the mic
Chad Immortan vs Virgin Dementus
0:37 I like how Octoboss pops in like all rigth lets do this.
I get that it wouldn't have worked for the tone or pacing for the Way Boy to say, "my right or your right?" but I was still kinda hoping for it.
2024's best movie.
It gave me a good chuckle that the war boys wouldn't miss an opportunity to swoop in with the cranes like hungry gulls and loot their motorcycles even in the midst of battle. 😂
I am no composer but I can feel that something is very off with the sound and music design of this movie. It feels so empty and the music does not match with the dramatic situations they try to highlight. Not sure if others can feel the same.
You are mistaken about the sound, I find it pretty cool but about the score, you are right it kinda of disappointed me if we compared with Tom’s work on Fury Road.
It did feel pretty strange at times. I heard a lot of reused tracks from fury road which was weird. Honestly though I think more subtle, less bombastic was probably best for the slower, more methodical storytelling they were showing going for. Though something more memorable would have been better then what we got really.
I fuck with the didge hard though.
I think its just people are too into the metal of Fury road. Furiosa is suppose to be a story not a action movie
Too much CGI which is why Fury Road was a classic
I love that the Warboyz and the Citadel shows their true power in this movie, and that they didn't surrender to Dementus. That would damage the concept we have since Fury Road; even better, this shows how HARD was to Furiosa, Max, the wives and the Many Mothers to fight againts them.
It's so nice of George Miller to document what happens in Australia every time the electrical grid goes out.
1:25 it dosn't matter what type of movie Miller does. he will always put an adorkable maniac
The war boy who did his job is a G.
Imagine people complain about cgi in scenes like this. Seriously???
Fun fact Rizzdale Pell (0:39 guy just to the right of Dementus) also plays Immortan Joe in this one
I like how they had Harley and Davidson, as well as Norton. Both great motorcycle brands
Great movie

This is epic.
Ounce I seen the lost war boy, I knew
Never mess with the high ground.
The Smeg makes the same sound as when the Gyro Captain springs out of the ground in MM2
3:40 what the hell was that Cgi? It looks like it came out of spy kids
With three words Immortan can command a suicide charge. Dementus knew he was cooked.
*YOU, ARE AWAITED*
There is no that moment, when they reving up their bikes, that was awesome and stupid simultaneously
Rictus has let himself go a bit😂😂
"It's *OVER* do you not see... I have the *HIGH* ground..."
i can tell you this what set this movie apart from fury road. While in fury road is how would you survive in the wasteland, in Furiosa is how would you live.
While never really overtly suicidal, Dementus repeatedly throughout the movie demonstrates a suicidal level of overconfidence. You could argue hes just an impulsive gang leader trying to coast by on audacity, but with his conversation with Furioa at the climax i think on some level he wants to die.
Such a great scene and movie
Bro. That was hard
With all these extended clips, eventually I'll have seen the whole movie 😂😎
am i the only one see immortan joe was more like anti villain than dementus who was pure evil. despite immortan brainwash doctrine his warboys into fanatics worshiping him as god, or disppaoint with their "mediocracy" sometimes and his own three sons, at least he still gave them some food, water, and shelter. despite joe treat his wives as property but he want them to brith a perfect child that someday maybe they could restore and preserve nature and civilation back into wasteland.
meanwhile dementus was just greedy biker who only need was more conquers, and more loot, he even backstabbing his own men, get them killed (human shield against furiosa sniping, swapping the clothes so can only he was able to escaped while the rest die)
I have never noticed that the War Boy Dementus finds on the desert is the one that hooks the cage with Furiosa inside.

Were the tunnel people trying to save Furiosa, or eat her? There were all those bones hanging in their cave. And why did they focus on that old woman in the tunnel for a couple of seconds? Was she, maybe, one of the Many Mothers from the Green Place? So many questions. I love that every character has a back story.
The cape looks so stupid.
Nah
You realize it represents his evilness? At the beginning it's purely white as he's not seen as a villain but as the movie continues it gets darker and redder, by the time he catches furiosa and jack his cape is black and evil showing he is nothing but evil, a grim reaper hunting down those who oppose him. At the end furiosa wears the cape, as she's death incarnate for dementus
@@jackmccoy296 No, I did not know that because I did not see the movie. It just looks stupid to me, and I will not be watching the movie unless it comes too one of the streaming services I use.
@americansupervillain4595 if you haven't seen the mad max series, it's pretty much like this all throughout the series bar, the first one being more grounded in reality, a good thing to keep in mind when it comes to the other 4 movies. It is narrated by someone generations into the future when the earth has slowly recovered from the situation, and these stories are passed down generation to generation. It's an odd series, but amazing nonetheless
Edit: George Miller himself said this
2:00 is the guy on the right suppose to be Nux or at least a nod to him? Same boil on his neck and kinda looks similar. Maybe before he was really sick.
