ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus

The Moari were a warlike people.
The Maori are a warlike people
That’s an extremely stereotypical and ignorant statement. All cultures have histories of conflict and peace. While the Māori did have a warrior tradition, they also have a rich history of art, spirituality, and community. Like many societies, they engaged in conflicts for various reasons, including defending their land and resources. It’s essential to consider the full scope of any culture’s history rather than reducing it to a single characteristic.
Well done Mr. Willie Jackson!
This comment section is very British
Cannot rewrite history.
Whose history...?
@@MattHerrettMusic Julius Caesars. Obviously.
Stop bashing us Brits we have given so much to humility over the years....
I think you mean humanity. The irony of your statement is quite something!
@@MattHerrettMusic thanks for the spell checking correction.....
You splutter all the time. You're not much good at sarcasm either.
If the British Museum is filled with items taken from other countries and cultures then I agree the museum is not very British.
Oh it's very British they pillage steal and plunder other cultures treasures . How much more British can you get .
Can we get some subtitles for the initial waffle, please?
Yeah. He said heycidskyja4668 is a fucking twat.
The "waffle" to which you refer is called Te Reo Maori. It means the Maori language and is an official language of New Zealand.
waffle?
I wonder if he flew over on British airways or did he sail his hand made indigenous boat complete clown
what’s even your point? just to be racist?
Ah yes. The aeroplane. That great British invention...
@@amberquigley2073 well the point is if Britain is this big bad country and if you wanna run it down to the core just leave why come here that’s the point would you stay in someone’s house if you hated them no you wouldn’t
@@user-yp3bw2be7p friend you’re missing the point of this kōrerō (discussion/debate). Willie Jackson doesn’t hate Britain, he’s critical of Britain. He’s identifying the wrongs they’ve committed in the past and how that has impacted on their culture. If we don’t have these discussions, whether we agree or disagree with one another, we won’t make progress in addressing historical and ongoing inequalities and injustices.
