Black played a good game until that last reactive move that resulted in checkmate. I remember taking advantage of many players like this back in the day. I think the tactic was to always be aware of checkmating possibilities and carefully lure out the opponents defenders, they don't always realize how important their pieces are. --This also goes for defense. Sometimes defensive moves can turn into wicked surprising offensive opportunities.

Mato if black takes with the knight instead of the pawn after Bc4 black can play Qh4 after that.
    That won me some games.
Black can defend it with pawns but you can take with the knight.
In a blitz game that will create chaos and time loss from whites side.
Also you can recapture the bishop.

Urusov gambit seems to be the favorite of Mato 🙂

Urusov thought contrary to the commonly known principle of "Develop your knights before the bishops" and thus accidentally created a new opening which was named after him. 😁😁

Mato, are you familiar with the Nakhmanson gambit?
If not, maybe you should check out Jonathan Schrantz' videos.
I don't know how correct it is, but it can be a lot of fun.

I lost taste in this video after seeing the variation after black plays Qe7+ at 1:55. Are there better replies than one shown here? I'll have to check with Houdini when I get the chance but if white can only pull a draw from an aggressive 2 pawn gambit, it's not worth it. That's like making 2 sacrifices in life and coming up empty handed.
