After Morphy, Dadian is my favorite player. Perhaps his opponents weren't worthy of his game. But I'm convinced it doesn't matter. His moves are so mysterious he impresses me like Morphy. Thank you for this series Mato... The greatest question of the universe is... why do knights move as an L... WHY? Who designed this game? We shall never know.

Most of the games of Dadian were staged. Only serious mistakes by his opponents allow for the "brilliant" sacrifices. On top he demanded that the Monte Carlo tournement organizers exclude Tschigorin. I have no respect for cheaters.
