This guys is a genie first he helps me with buying a bike now he helps me get rid of a creaking sound in my headset .this channel is under rated asf
My town has nobody riding bmx. Guess ill be the only one at 30.
Nothing wrong with that and just another reason to travel and meet more people!
Same here bud
I'm from a city with 200k and the crowd is pretty small. I'm 35 just getting back into it.
Facts 🎯🎯🎯🎯
Keep riding.
I took my fork off to spray paint it and ended up wondering where the “spacer” goes. Clicked on the first video (yours) and boom, it was explained and I learned about the other parts and the difference between them (was confusing a bit) but thanks man. Keep up gods work!
Always happy to help! Glad to hear that you got it back together as well!
Funny thing is I know how to I just need to check
Sick vids man! Best tutorials on CZcams because of your ability to show only what matters. Learned a lot about bikes through you!
I had to take my bike apart to travel at one point, and this video would have been lovely to have when trying to put it all back together. Great, very helpful content!
It’s one of those things that you don’t think about or realize you need to know until it’s time to put it back together
Assembling and bmx I have restored for my nephew for his birthday and been stumped because I stripped it months ago. This vi saved me. Thanks dude
I know how to do this.. just watched cuz i like listening to you talk.. helps me with my talking skills..
I appreciate you for that, thank you!
Back in the mid school & old school days the forks just came threaded lol. Doing a first new school build and out of the loop so doing some info research. That went together pretty much exactly as I expected.
Thx for the walk through, I’ve been off of a BMX bike for 25 years. This is “new” technology to me, I was curious how it works. Thank you!
48 and same, since the early 90s.
Very nice video my man, I’ve had 15+ years on a bike but I had brain cancer in 2016. My memory’s not great and I was putting my Bmx back together after paint. And for the life of me I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. This video saved me. Cheers dude!
Dope video! It's my third time unpacking my BMX from travel and I always have trouble reassembling lol, and it's definitely due to that missing piece. Hopefully this time I remember for good. Excellent content, helpful vids all around, subscribed :)
Hey thank you! I’m always happy to help! That little piece has gotten me a few times as well. So easy to forget.
Thanks for subscribing as well and hope to see you in the comments again soon!
Ty man, I'm an old cyclist my son has a new bmx, when I saw the brakes I went wtf, and the headset had way too much movement, the vid was simple and real easy to follow ty prob saved my son from a serious accident, you rock ty
Bro I’m 50 , just bought a quadangle cuz I couldn’t afford or find one when I was a kid or teen. That being said , I’ve been lucky enough to own and build repair a GT aRedline A diamondback and a Dyno. Back then I could i un assemble and reassemble any one of them in about hour and change . But on this new quadangle I realized things have definitely changed . It’s gonna take some work and learning about the new thread less stuff . And figure out how to build/gif a hollow bolt thread less setup for a gyro . Can’t go without a gyro man. Anyway I want to say thank you for taking the time to put your skills out here for us … you are much appreciated mate.
OMG, Thank You,Thank You as I'm building the Free Agent Telum F/F Kit and I've never done one of these headsets and you just made it so easy to make me want to do it now. Sure I know how to do most bike stuff, but on this headset, I was like oh-oh, and the way you explain, is to the T. Love the way you explain it,step by step and by word for word. Well here goes nothing 🤣😂🤣😂
Perfect! Happy to hear that this helped you man
I just installed the same odyssey headsets by watching this video thank you.
Thanks man, 36 and just got back to bmx but mostly for short errands and cruising around. Replaced a lot of parts on the used bike I bought that I should've assembled one myself instead. Still worth it though, just waiting for my stem to arrive via mail. :D
Hey always happy to help!! Glad to hear you're back in it even just for errands and cruising. That's the best part sometimes. Just cruising around riding from one place to another
its the same thing with my dirt jump. i couldnt put them back after i took off my fork. thank you so much dude. you r awesome.
Always happy to help!! Hope it was enough to earn your subscription!
Great video man. Very well explained 👍🏻
Thank you!! Hope it helped!
Thank you so much bro, imma subscribe, Straight to the point and amazing explanations
Hey thank you!! I do my best to make these videos as easy to understand as possible!
You’re so good at explaining everything,
I love your videos man they have helped me fix so many things on my bike
So good to hear!! Im happy to help!
Thank you!! This video did help me understand bmx bearings a lot better! I had bmx as a kid and just bought a "new" one and wanted to see how to properly put the pieces together after these years, thank you keep it up!!
Thanks. I’m restoring a BMX and need this video for guidance.
Awesome video! I am a newby so I wanted to ask if you had a star nut in the steer tube of the fork since you used a compression cap? If you do not have a star nut, should you use a stem lock instead? I appreciate the help!
Bought the same headset for a 2924 Skyway Street beat, ive used you ring type thing at the base of my forks, assembled the headset the exact same way as demonstrated here, but my headset has a slight wiggle. It's driving me insane. Excellent walk-through/tutorial though👍👊
Helped so much! Thanks 🙏
As always amazing content dude
Thanks man
Can you gift me that i like that bmx bike pless
Thnks your video help me have a better understanding on how the forks get install. Although i wish u made a video discussing how the snafu headsets if any are different in setting up with forks. Im trying to visualize how it gets installed
Thanks for the video. I’m wanting to see where/ how the little small ball bearings are and go.
Hope it helps then!
Compression ring , I remember putting a new headset on my friends bike and didn’t even put that in lol soon learned, not sure what I was thinking.
Ahhhh that’s what it’s called! Thanks!!
haha
MY FAVE VIDS- INSTRUCTIONAL!! What up B! Great job....

Have a great one dude!!
TY VERY MUCH U CHANGED MY RIDING EXPERIENCE FOR THE BETTER
Really glad to hear it!!!
thanks man i was struggling for like 30 mins until i watched this
Thankyou SOOOOOOO much so so so helpful 👍👍👍
thanks mate! never got this wrong but took my bike the other day to grease everything and somehow did it wrong haha after yearrrrrssss with bikes! lol go figure. this finally solved my bit of play! legend!
Haha it can be soooo easy to second guess yourself then get mixed up and not know for sure. Happy to hear it helped!
@@Brant_Moore yeah man! It was one of those things where I took it apart a second time and messed it up yet was fine the first time I put it together haha! Yeah was a great help bro you're a hero!
Thanks for the video Señor, I really wanted to learn this, also I have a question, my fork is shaking a little bit, front & back, what do you reckon! The bearing is damaged?
Could be a loose headset. If it’s tighten but still doing that it’s probably a blown out bearing
@@Brant_Moore thanks bro, will check & tighten it, otherwise change it if it is still shaking.
Much appreciated for the quick response 🙂👍
I swapped some some forks for ODYR25's the other day. I put the headset back on the way it all came off (working fine) but then the steering was extremely tight.
It is more likely I need more grease? Missing something? 1st thoughts?
Either way, after watching this I'll be having another look tonight/this weekend and ensuring the layout is the same as yours.
Cheers!
Sounds like you may have tightened it too far
Helpful video, thank you!!!!!!
Glad to hear it helped!! Thanks for watching
Hey man, great vids. Question, the headset compression cap is threaded? What does that screw into? Is the top of the forks threaded? Thank you
It can be different depending upon what you have.
Aftermarket BMX forks are usually threaded on the inside of the steer tube and that's what the cap will thread into.
Complete bmx bikes will sometimes have a star nut which has a bolt that threads into it.
You went to Suday to No Wear.... You getting better....
U did a AWESOME JOB THANK U
Did it help???
So helpful!
Thanks bro needed this
Always happy to help!! Glad to hear it did!
@@Brant_Moore Much respect bro! 💯 I took apart my bike and didnt know how to put it back with this part haha
Thank you soo much know i now how to install headset and stem thankyou
Always happy to help!!! I hope it was enough to earn your subscription!
Can you mix and match diff brand intergraded bearing with dust caps as long as theyre all the same size?
Yep!! Integrated bearings of the same size should be exactly the same
How would you go about converting from a 1" threaded to a threadless headset?
Love you bro
Do you trim down your steerer tube at all?
I gotta take it to the bike shop now 😳
Thank you so much
Hope it helped!!
I have the same fork and head set as you and when I tighten my fork on it feels like it moves a little on landings or when I tighten it just a tad more it feels like the fork and bars don’t move smoothly is that just the bearings breaking in because they are a bit new
Thx
You may want to check your headset to see if it’s fully tight
Very helpful.
Really glad to help any time I can!!
Hi people, can i pick your expert bmx brains!? I have a GT Fly 2003 (without a headset), and was wondering what modern headset will fit this frame? Many thanks.
Will the bearings be as easy to put into a new frame?
They should be
Hello Brant
I have a question. If I have a normal old ball bearing in my headset can I put on an intergrated headset.
No unfortunately they aren’t compatible that way
I just got a old school redline at a gerage sale having that grinding feeling when turning and also seeing a lower seal looking as if its stretched out or not sticking in the lower should I replace the whole bearing system ?
Yea I would probably just replace it all. Don’t wanna replace just on and then have it go back because of something to do with the other one
@@Brant_Moore thank you so much for the reply ill stop in at my bike shop tomorrow here in town and get some bearings
thank you man
Happy to help!!
thanks!
my bike is making a high pitch noise somewhere between the fork and the frame. was wondering if it could be a problem with the headset?
dat was great !!!
Thank you! Hope it helped you!
Great music 👌
Love that tune for videos like this!
My fork/ head set had a lot of play in it and when I took it out, one of the bearings was snapped in half, also Pn my bike my top cap screw goes into a weird welded in star nut, is that normal?
I am not a beginner but I haven't rode in over 10yrs lol. I bought a 20" DK Cygnus for 80$. It needs the compression cap & bearings for the Handle bars/Forks. Will a bike shop sell me those pieces? Hoping to get back into bmx & get my little brother into it also!
A bike shop should normally have those parts. Whether or not they will right now I can’t say. Bmx bikes and parts have been selling out almost immediately after being stocked for a few months now. Worth going to the local shop and checking. Psyched to hear you’re getting back into it and maybe even getting someone new into it!!
And thanks for watching!
@@Brant_Moore fast response and very informative videos, I am forsure subscribing.
is it possible to find a pretty decent brand of Forks/Handle setup for 200$ or less? I am loving the frame of my DK but want different front setup
Always happy to try and help! Thank you man and welcome.
You may want to consider doing it a part at a time. When it comes to forks, you don’t want to go halfway, you wanna buy the best right away because if you don’t you’ll end up buying them anyway when the cheaper ones bend or break
@@Brant_Moore Oh okay makes sense. I really just want to replace my handle bars so I guess I will start there!
I m new to bmx, I got Eastern Piston bmx bike, I don't know how long it will last.
can this be done to replace a threaded fork?
Hey, I have Bmx I'm dusting off from a few years back and wanted to replace the headset bearings as feeling a little ruff, it has an integrated headset. Strange thing is, is it has sealed bearings up top, but down below there is a ring inside the frame that caged bearings sit on. Can I just remove the race and put a sealed bearing on the bottom. It's a fit bike co pledge. Thanks in advance
Honestly I’m not sure on that one. I believe they make cups that integrated bearings can sit in though
Hi I just changed the stem and after fixe it I notice a bit loose like wobbling.
Thanks
Glad to hear it helped!!!
I did everything you said man, but my headset is wobbly and my forks wobble and my bars turn a bit stiff any tips?
Sounds like something’s missing but it’s hard to say
Sir i ride a quil stem but my bolts keep loosing by the way im just begining to ride can you do a video about quil stem
Mountain bike integrated headset can fit in bmx?
How do you change 1 piece crank to a 3 piece crankset
sir whats the name of the tool that you are using there
I installed a headset and my cap is tall, so when I put my compression bolt on it only had like 4 rotations till it was tight. Is that fine or should I try to find a longer compression bolt?
As long as you feel like it has enough threads not to strip out you’re good. Mines the same way
Can you put a integrated headset on a standard frame that has cups or does the frame have to be integrated too ?
You can get cups made for integrated headsets but normal unsealed cups will not accept an integrated bearing
@@Brant_Moore thank you so much I wasted my money but now I know 😳🙁
Ahhhh sorry to hear!! I’m happy to help though
Is it the same size for all bikes? I have a 29” Big Ripper and don’t know what size I need
Stop in your local bike shop and they'll be happy to let you know and will also most likely have one.
Is it possible to accidentally over tighten the compression cap
I need help!!! I’ve looked all over CZcams and I can’t find how to do this
This helped even tho it looks simple
Exactly why I made it. Thanks for letting me know!
The funny thing is that is the same headset I'm getting so it makes it more easy
my headset spacers and like dust cap cant fit over my new forks, should i buy new forks or buy a matching headset?
Depends what forks they are
How do you install the front gyro brake if there's no hole in the headset?
You'll have to get a different cap for your forks that has one. Not really sure of another way to route the cable
So what will happen if I dont use the ring? im very curious now lol
The headset will be extremely loose and the whole front end will feel awful
hey man sorry to bother you. I've done this correctly however I still have wobble between my forks and bars? I didn't have a spacer whereas you had the one. would that be what's causing the wobble? I really can't work my head around it.
It’s possible you need a spacer. If the top of the fork is too close to the top of the hole in the stem, it will not have enough room to tighten. Which is why you could need a spacer. You also could be missing a piece from the headset.
Hope this helps
@Brant_Moore thank you mate I will have a look. I’m definitely sure all the pieces of the headset are there. Was a full new headset. The forks were bang on inline with the stem so I will add a spacer and see how that is. Thank you so much
Hopefully the spacer is all it was
@Brant_Moore you’re a hero. Just sorted that now man. Thank you so much
Always happy to help!
idk what this problem with my bike is i currently ride a wheelie bike throne goon and as soon as i got it brand new btw i started to realize this sound coming from my fork. it was like a doom bap click pop noise whatever everytime i did a jump or wheelies and went down. i checked everything not my front spokes not my headset not my front hubs nothing it comes from my fork and i hate it and i can’t diagnose the sound do you know anything of it?
Hmmm. Try greasing your stem bolts
I have the same silver thing and bearings on my bike but the silver part wont go into my forks what do I do
I would take a visit to your local bike shop!
Better than RJ The Bike Guy.
That sounds like a pretty big compliment, thank you!
U dount need a special tool 2 put on a race but it on then put ure stem on the fork with the pinch bolts lose and keep hiting the top of the stem on spin it around 2 pus on the race
Is it 44mm? Thanks
I’m not sure what you mean
can you run an integrated headset on a frame with non integrated cups
No, unfortunately you cant put an integrated bearing into an unsealed bearing cup
@@Brant_Moore oh ok
I have a shadow headset and on one side of the dust cap it is raised slightly more than on the other side do U know what I can do to fix this or is it normal?
Hmmm, so it’s not perfectly flat?
@Brant_Moore I think it’s better now but it used to have a little raise on one side
@Brant_Moore no it’s not better now one side is raised more than the orher
@Brant_Moore also when I turn the bars and push my bike back and forth I can feel a slight resistance which is very annoying
1000th like 👌
Dangggg thank you!!!!
because of the wide angle lens, i keep thinking your steer tube is bent lmao
What do I do when the forks don't drop out and beating on the top with a 2x4 and hammer still wont do it? I'm just crunching the 2x4 into toothpicks!
What Now??
Dude there is still the slightest movement in my headset / fork stem once tight down. Is this normal ?
Do you have enough spacers on the fork? You don’t want your fork to be at the very top of the hole in the stem
My bro have flick sound whenever I turn the handle 360. Why?
My integrated headset moves around when it’s all put together and I don’t know why
Do all headsets fit all frames ?
Integrated headsets are usually the same. There is a difference when it comes to headsets with cups
Your forks might not fit with all frames though. In my case my forks were too short for my new frame.
Hedset size and brand ??
What is that bike stand
