- Aerosmith's live performance from the 71st Academy Awards.
The song "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" was nominater for best original song from the 1998 movie Armageddon.
This is the best quality clip of their performance i could find.
Copyright belongs to Columbia Records
I still don't know how they did not win the Oscar for Best Original Song that year.
But MHWGO won in 1998
@@AlexChannel7 Ups, right. My bad
@@AlexChannel7but that was the 1999 Oscar and not the 98
@tiram12 “You’ll Be In My Heart” (Phil Collins - Disney’s Tarzan Soundtrack)
Well, they wouldn't win anyway because the song is Diane Warren's, and the competition was strong with Stephen Schwartz's When You Believe, from Prince of Egypt. Both victories would be nice, it was a question of pure fortune.
theres a moment at 2:24 where you just realise how good tyler is, his own guitarist looks at him with such appreciation
Steven still owns the stage even in 2019 as good as here in '99. Aerosmith is legit one of.the best love acts of any decade of any genre and that's simply fact. Steven Do your thing brother, fucking mad respect to you and the boys!
Kinda mimicks Mick Jaggers moves and style don't you think
@@FreeThinkAlways no
this was my parents wedding song
beautiful wedding
John Neustadt vlogs Beautiful choice!!!
The audiences were like "this is not the Grammys." However the song stands the test of time.
eternal
This song came out in 1996 and so did the movie Armageddon. I don't know how they list Armageddon as a 1998 movie. The vcr tape says it is a 1996 movie and I thought it came out earlier than 1998. This song came out when the Olympics were in the U.S.A. in Atlanta, Hulk Hogan turned into a bad guy, and when the media was covering Jonbenet Ramsey's death nonstop on TV.
they are a bunch of snobs.
@@casey3685 The movie Armageddon came out in 1998
Armageddon was released on July 1st, 1998. I didn’t even need to look that up because I remember opening day when it came out. That summer was all about Armageddon and this song.
It was the year of the two asteroid movies: this and Deep Impact.
Thank you for uploading. They should've won that year - hands down.
Never get tired of watching Steven Tyler preforming singing in his video. Amazing Singer❤
Another Great song compossed by Diane Warren that should had won an Oscar but the Academy refused to give the prize to it
Agreed. A fucking classic.
This song was really good should have gotten an Oscar agreed hands down beautiful song
I agree
People that night were blessed with many legendary musical beings. Imagine witnessing performances by Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Steven Tyler & Andrea Bocelli in one same night. The Vocal Trinity, The Legendary Tenor & one of the America's Greatest R&R Band. The finest of various genre of their generation & till date.
and Peter Gabriel
Yeah. I've always thought that only a few in the audience realized the magnitude of what was going on. To have Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Steven and Andrea (or artists of that caliber together) is unimaginable today. It's a testament to the interpretive quality of that moment and the pinnacle that could be reached. Lucky all who were able to see them live
What a voice
How this didn't win the Oscar... smh
It lost to “When you Believe” song by Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston so
@@Dots8 LOL. Yes, I know what song won. That isn't news. My point was, obviously, that this song should have won. Even if "When You Believe" was good, this song should have won, and WYB was terrible.
@@slyjokerg I agree this song was robbed
@@slyjokergNo it's not. It's beautiful.
@@Disneyfan82 Yes, it was terrible.
la mejor banda sonora de una movie que eh escuchado lastima no gano el oscar
Eventhough I was born in 89, I remember very much from the 90s Grammy cus my mom watched it all the time. 2024 just doesn't feel the same. They're either lip syncing, or just garbage music. God I wish things would go back to great movies and great music. With a meaning with no politics, no race, no genre but just passion.
Raw singing talent. To pull those high notes outside of a studio and make it sound great takes talent.
And I don't wanna close my Eye's !!!🐉
I agree the are a amazing band they should win
Yes, When You Believe is breathtaking but come on this song got Aerosmith their first Number 1 hit...ever (no seriously)
Qué apretado el público. Parece que muy apenas les aplauden y la presentación es excelente. Cómo cambian los tiempos, este año (2020) EMINEM recibió una ovación de pie y el público se le entregó.
Maravilhosa melodia e interpretes
Love this song they did their thing on this song
2020 .stil my faveret song
Perfect❤️
For any wonder pets fans that watched wonders pets adventure in wonder land imagine you hear mad hatter wonder pets version singing this because Steven Tyler voiced him
Show de bola
Steven Tyler is a sweetheart ❤️ ♥️ 💕 💖 💗 💓 ❤️ ♥️ 💕 💖 💗 💓 ❤️ ♥️ 💕 💖 💗 prayers go out to him for a speedy recovery 😢😢😢
Okay so all three of em (Whitney, Celine, Mariah) performed on one event. Now this song was supposedly and I forgot where I read it but this was offered to Celine, after the original artist this was intended to declined to record it,before Aerosmith decided to just record it themselves. Apparently, it explains why the song is kinda more of having that ballad-ish arrangement to it plus the orchestra which they retained
Im glad Celine didn’t take it, it feels like it was made for Steven Tyler. The passion he brings to that song plus a bit of edge with rock makes like he wrote that song himself. He so owns that song.
Celine has a great voice this belongs totally to Aerosmith.
Meu hino❤
Lol, in a foreign country somewhere.. the song is titles "armageddon"
Imagine if Céline didn’t turned down this song. She’ll sing 2 songs that night
Yeah... she turned it down 'cause she didn't wanna do the soundtrack to two disaster movies.
@@TucBroder you mean she doesn’t want be called as the tearjerker movie soundtrack queen lol
@@JohnDeLeon28 Something in those lines, yes 😁
wait....she actually turned down this song? man imagine how it would have sounded if she did it. Am I going to find out that she turned down When You Believe as well?
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit Yes, she turned down
I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing - Armageddon
There You’ll Be - Pearl Harbor
She almost didn’t record My Heart Will Go On because of the way James Horner sang it in his piano. So, her manager and husband decided to do a demo and that’s what we have been hearing since.
Maybe if Pearl Harbor were released in 2002. She may have recorded it since it was her comeback year after having a break for 2 years to take care of her sick husband.
Rock and roll
I actually never knew this song was an Oscar nominee
Great song but it was competing against “The Prayer” and “When you believe” as well 😵
all the people over there seemed to be bored to death.
They probably were low key enjoying it.
does Steven know he messed up his own lyrics on a massive broadcast on national TV? It's "I could STAY awake" and "I miss you BABY" but he said "LIE awake" and "I miss you GIRL"
I think he changed the lyrics so people would know he wasn’t doing playback.
Steven’s voice sounds identical on albums as it sounds live so I’d say he changed the words so people would know for sure he was singing live.
Damn what a voice.
So pathetic...Aerosmith was such a great band from 1973 to 1985 (with a brief resurgence in 1989). Then they did this kind of sellout cheese pop ballad garbage because Tyler and Perry could no longer write good songs without soulless hired guns like Desmond Child and Dianne Warren. Sad!
Goes to show what you know about music.
Steven Tyler didn’t “sell out.” He did this for his daughter, who asked him personally to do it. He then committed, and it became their only number one hit, ever. Just because someone else wrote the song doesn’t mean anything: his delivery and dynamic range are what made this song great. You’re clearly in the minority.
@Maestro. This is not garbage. This is a beautiful song that deserves better. You know nothing.
